Poor Cenk Uygur! Every time you turn around, he is hyperventilating over some alleged "scandal" in the Bush administration that he is convinced will finally bring down the hated President Bush. This time, it's the news that the Office of Special Counsel is beginning an investigation that grows out of the dismissal of several U.S. Attorneys:
The new investigation, which will examine the firing of at least one U.S. attorney, missing White House e-mails, and White House efforts to keep presidential appointees attuned to Republican political priorities, could create a substantial new problem for the Bush White House.
Cenk is convinced that this is the long-awaited "big one." I'm afraid, though, that he is destined to be disappointed once more. Despite the Democrats' best efforts, there is no evidence whatever that there was anything improper about the administration's decision to replace eight U.S. Attorneys, who serve at the pleasure of the President. The missing emails are from the Republican National Committee, if they really are missing--it's been reported that Patrick Fitzgerald obtained them all in connection with the Valerie Plame investigation, so whether there is actually anything missing remains to be seen. And the suggestion that there is something wrong with "keep[ing] presidential appointees attuned to Republican political priorities" is simply incorrect. Following the administration's policy directives, which in a democracy generally are, and should be, based in part on political considerations, is part of the job description of any political appointee, such as a U.S. Attorney.
The fact is that the Bush administration has been the most scandal-free of any administration in memory. To my recollection, Scooter Libby is the only significant member of the administration who has been indicted. Sadly for the Democrats, opposing their policy preferences is not a crime; nor is defeating them in elections. Not yet, at any rate.

16. 6. What a shame these new Liberal Socialists in congress do not concentrate on the work they are being overpaid for, all they spend their days with is the continuous tirade of libel, lies and distortion directed against our decent President. Not content with their shameless waste of time regarding the legitimate work of the Attorney General, they have now joined forces with the terrorists by raising the Yellow and White Flag of Surrender. I never thought that I would live to see the day, that a Speaker of the House, would sit down with a great supporter of International Terrorism, namely Bashar al-Assad, and then prance through the streets of Damascus wearing a Burka! Nancy Bin Pelosi should feel proud of herself, her traitorism has earned her the support of Hammas along with many other murderous outfits that seek the destruction of our great country.
This one had my rolling on the floor laughing. I hope you don't actually believe this bullshit. This is great. I have to send it along to all my friends. They will get a good laugh. The same parrot lines that roll off half you morons lips. Do you have to practice this or do you have it copied somewhere?

Tell me something sir, don't you want your representatives to look into things that where done, based on lies?? Aren't you the least bit concern with a goverment that outed a CIA agent, that took us to war based on lies, send our troops with bad equiptment?? And when anyone has the nerve to question their tactics, the are labled with not supporting the troops, enabeling the enemy. What the Heck is that??? I for one Am very happy that the change in our representatives will look into all this garbage we have had to put up with since Mr. Bush was appointed to the White House.

19. Gonzales' memory loss is kind of reminiscent of Mrs. Clinton's missing billing records from the Rose Law firm. (Which just happened to reappear mysteriously in the White House.)
Why is it okay for the Dem's to lose their recollection, while it's a crime for Republicans?

20. Alas, it's been said that every democracy gets the leader(s) they deserve at the time. Bummer!

22. There was no law broken in regards to the termination of US attorneys. No scandal. However saying the war in Iraq is lost before the outcome is outrageous. Harry Reid should resign. Nancy Pelosi needs to be prosecuted under the Logan Act.

23. Mr. Hinderaker, your loyalty to the Bush Administration and his neo-con agenda will ultimately get you exactly what you deserve....

24. Scooter Libby should be pardoned since no crime was committed, while the prosecutor knew beforehand who outed the nobody, Valerie Plame. No scandal.
No crime was committed in the firing of US attorneys. No scandal.
Democrats will be playing politics right up until Nov. 2008 throwing a bunch of crap against the wall just to see what sticks.

25. Greg: Buy a dictionary, if you can read. "Liberal" means, those who love liberty and freedom. In the distorted minds of those who fear (and therefore, hate liberals) it has taken on a distorted meaning somehow. Most of the guys who drew up the Declaration of Independence were liberals. Somehow they reasoned that unless we got rid of the controls of England, we would have trouble as a nation

26. America has taken note of this corrupt administration and it will be the will of the American people to take down this corrupt administration. It's only a matter of time and when they are gone the final judgement for this President and his corrupt administration will be the history books and his corrupt legacy.

27. I tend to feel a little empathy for those under the Bush Administration and any Administration for that matter that allows our children to be killed for no reason. My heart aches each and every time I see or hear about there deaths. Someone will have to give an account for this injustice. Many times, those we love suffer. They may not be repaid in-kind in my life time, but it will come. It is true both naturally and biblically what one sows one reaps.

28. This investigation is being done by the office of special counsels. The Dems are not conducting this investigation, BUT.... A federal investigation into the political activities of Karl Rove, was announced late Tuesday, is being headed by a Bush appointee who is currently the target of an internal White House probe - calling into question the integrity of the administration's efforts to conduct an independent review of Rove's work as White House political adviser. The fox in the hen house sydrome. The obvious outcome: "no problem here."

29.
Why were the emails deleted in the first place? That is a crime in and of itself, saying "we screwed up" isn't good enough when someone knowingly hit the delete button. Why were the people in question using RNC email accounts which were not candidly accessible as the law requires? That is where the question of the Hatch Act comes into play. I would hardly call that "no evidence of wrongdoing".
And Nancy Pelosi is authorized to talk to foreign governments Elaine, she's an elected representative.

30. The march to discredit all Republicans continues. One must wonder if the goal of political control is worth the savaging of all Republican public servants. The Democrats must assume we Independents will accept them as a ruling party. What if we don't? They will be left in a more precarious position than the Republicans are now with Waxman and friends running wild.
In the name of politics we seem to be heading towards a new civil war and perhaps the end of our political system. I have seen better things fail in my sixty years.
If we no longer have a common goal as a country, the time to divide things and move on may be on the horizon. I do not wish to be part of a giant socialist experiment exercising muscles that have failed over and over again to produce anything close to the life style we now enjoy. Yet that is what the Democrats pursue.
They ignore a fundamental principle that what we have experienced we "own" and going back from there will never be successful. It's the "how you gonna keep em down on the farm once they've been to the city" deal. The Democrats supporters largely don't know what they have.....but they will when it is gone. A Tom Waits song says it best..."I never knew the morning till I stayed up all night".
