Poor Cenk Uygur! Every time you turn around, he is hyperventilating over some alleged "scandal" in the Bush administration that he is convinced will finally bring down the hated President Bush. This time, it's the news that the Office of Special Counsel is beginning an investigation that grows out of the dismissal of several U.S. Attorneys:
The new investigation, which will examine the firing of at least one U.S. attorney, missing White House e-mails, and White House efforts to keep presidential appointees attuned to Republican political priorities, could create a substantial new problem for the Bush White House.
Cenk is convinced that this is the long-awaited "big one." I'm afraid, though, that he is destined to be disappointed once more. Despite the Democrats' best efforts, there is no evidence whatever that there was anything improper about the administration's decision to replace eight U.S. Attorneys, who serve at the pleasure of the President. The missing emails are from the Republican National Committee, if they really are missing--it's been reported that Patrick Fitzgerald obtained them all in connection with the Valerie Plame investigation, so whether there is actually anything missing remains to be seen. And the suggestion that there is something wrong with "keep[ing] presidential appointees attuned to Republican political priorities" is simply incorrect. Following the administration's policy directives, which in a democracy generally are, and should be, based in part on political considerations, is part of the job description of any political appointee, such as a U.S. Attorney.
The fact is that the Bush administration has been the most scandal-free of any administration in memory. To my recollection, Scooter Libby is the only significant member of the administration who has been indicted. Sadly for the Democrats, opposing their policy preferences is not a crime; nor is defeating them in elections. Not yet, at any rate.

46. Did I read a Democrat called someone a traitor? That's very interesting. The Dems are selling our country out in the name of politics. Dems are weak and have been for many years now. Your average Dem is no better then a Frenchman. Cowardly, lacking in honor or any loyalty to this country. Ask any Dem if he would surrender or fight if we were invaded. I'm sure he'd say "Talk" which is Dem speak for surrender. Dems should be glad they're living in the greatest country in the world and stop trying to turn it into a socialist toilet. Down with the Dems.

47. People want to talk scandal. How about we start with Slick Willie defiling the oval office. Hillary and the magic reappearing Rose Law Firm papers or the $1000 investment that became $100,000. Can any of you tell me why we went into Bosnia when it did not have any thing to do with our national security? How many UN Resolutions were there against Bosnia? Does the number zero meaning anything. How about Slick Willies helping to release classified electronics to the Chinese. Did he not also help the North Koreans with their nuke ambitions. We will also need to investigate why Bill fired all 93 US Attorneys. Lets not forget all of the pardons at the end of his presidency. And you want to talk about scandal.

48. Greg,
What does this quote of Cheney's from '03 mean to you?:
"If we're successful in Iraq, if we can stand up a good representative government in Iraq that secures the region so that it never again becomes a threat to its neighbors or to the United States, so it's not pursuing weapons of mass destruction, so that it's not a safe haven for terrorists, then we will have struck a major blow right at the heart of the base, if you will, the geographic base of the terrorists who had us under assault now for many years, but most especially on 9/11."
And you have obviously not even looked at the question from the Zogby poll of 9-5-07 I won't shut up about, because it's unambiguous:
Q.: Do you agree or disagree that there was a connection between Saddam Hussein and the 9/11 terror attacks?
Dem Agree: 32% GOP Agree: 65%
And stop associating me with liberals. I think we'd be better off with: more rifle ownership by citizens, unrestricted international trade, the FAIR Tax, less government in health care, and fewer P.C. constraints on language. It's possible to vote sometimes for Democrats when the Republican options are horrible and it's possible to admit you've been fooled by the Bush administration and turn on it!
Cheers,

49. Investigate Pelosi, Reid, Clinton & Clinton, Sandy Berger. For that, matter, investigate the Democrats funneling money to the Palestinians (Hamas and Hezbollah), the collaboration with former KGB operatives.
Also, is there linkage to the Democratic party's anger over losing the 2000 election and the attack on 9/11 just one year later? And the D's decry "conspiracy." No one can conspire better than the elitist socio-coms, after all they are so buddy buddy with the socio-coms of the world.
Bill Clinton, the roaming gnome, ambassador to the world, learned that from the order at Oxford. Someday, Global Governor? Is this something we can vote on?

50. As a Bush criticizer, I just want all Republicans to know that I don't in any way associate you all with Brian #49.

52. So happy to see all these positive good Americans. But where are you in the press? Why is the news so down on Bush and other people who love our country and our freedoms? I do not get it? i do not care about your political intentions. I care about doing great things in and for the world. Why doesn't the press reflect this positive america spirit? what happened? and when?
a fellow great American

53. This blog and the supportive comments would be almost funny if the underlying issues weren't so serious. Comparing Karl Rove to James Carville is like comparing the mother from Aliens to Bugs Bunny. The damage this administration has done to the country and the world will line the history books. Name calling of liberals, or those who disagree with the president et al and that would now include a majority of the country, is tired and passe. The republicans wasted 8 years of Clinton's presidency chasing nothing. They impeached the man for having an affair! As we watch the carnage in Iraq and the ineptitude in the US, can Bush supporters really compare?
