Fox got caught this week with their hand in the cookie jar, or should I say the ham sandwich. They went on-air with a flat out made up story. The story involved a ham steak being placed in front of Muslim students as a prank in a middle school in Maine. Fox News Channel believed a parody site that said that an Anti-Ham Response Plan had been implemented at the school to fight against ham sandwiches – and ran with the story on-air.
You know they wanted to believe the story. They ran it because it's the kind of thing Fox eats up. They love to ham up these fake stories of political correctness. And this involved making fun of sensitive Muslims, even better. Fox was in hog heaven.
This is their silly "War on Christmas" type of story on crack. Instead of embellishing and making up stories on their own, this time they made the mistake of using an actual parody that could be proven to be fake. That was their real error. They're usually savvier than that.
I have called Fox, "Fake News Channel" before because of their penchant for putting so much bias in stories that they aren't representative of reality. That's actually a much worse transgression than this because there they convince the mainstream media to cover real stories with their false slant -- and the press usually falls for it. In this case, it's good to see that they lived up to the title of literally being the Fake News Channel.
I remember when Fox News demanded that all of the CBS producers and anchors be fired when they went with an uncorroborated story on-air. I am sure they will apply the same standard to their staff, right?
151. Re: Checkmoot I have seen some delusional rantings on line but this takes the cake!! Bush a hero? Check the definition. He "volunteered" to keep out of war. Now he is a big sword swinging Christian crusader. He is so brave with our young volunteers. I liked him better when he was all coked up. It was safer for the rest of us.

The Pew Research Center recently completed a study wherein Americans were quizzed on 23 questions regarding political knowledge.Knowledge levels were broken down into 3 groups, high ( 15 - 23 correct answers ),med.(10 - 14),low (0-9).Regular audiences of major newspaper web sites scored highest with 54,26,&20% respectively, followed in order by The Daily Show / Colbert Report ,( admittedly fake news),with 54,25,&21% ,news magazines,48,27,&25% ,Daily newspapers,43,31,&26% ,CNN tied with Google,Yahoo,etc.@41,35,&24%. Care to guess who's regular viewers are the least informed? That would be Fox News viewers @35,30,&35% My guess is that the 35% on the high end is padded by people who watch just to keep an eye on what the Repugnants are up to.
156. Wow, Fox got fed a fake story and in fun went with it on the air. The thing is this story was not made up to try to influence an election like CBS,NBC,ABC and CNN have done in the past. Admit it you libs hate Fox News because they dare report the other side.
You're reaching way too far in your critique. Fox has mud in their eye however it's not the whopper that Mapes and Rather pulled off. All jounalists should be held to account to a high standard of professionalism. I think it's easy to see most will read this as retribution but I don't agree. I believe you just couldn't help yourself.
159. Someone asked "Why do all Liberals hate Fox News Channel?". Well, this story IS WHY! When I watch the News, I want some assurance that what I am getting is a true account of what is going on in the world today. I don't want to hear just "half of the story", bias, distortion, lies, or political slant. I personally feel that no news at all would be better than the "tripe" I see on television. I have never seen so many lies being told by so many "well respected" people, in the name of "News Reporting". Before television was so common in American homes, I watched my dad buy two newspapers every day of his life. He told me it was because each Editor had his own "version" of the truth, and he wanted to read both before he figured out the real truth for himself. He was a Democrat, as I am, but he was hesitant to take everything from either Political Party at face value. He always did his own "investigating" on all the "issues". I still do that, and it has served me well. There is always a reliable source for the "REAL TRUTH", and it isn't going to come from a "Fake News" channel or a Rush Limbaugh. My dad said, "The day we take our NEWS right off the lines of a Politically motivated source, is the day we will be lied to". Fox just proved him to be correct, once again. Why do the major networks not have regulations which prevent all this from happening, instead of supporting it, and even "relying" on it to get ratings? Where is the honor in that?
160. Fake or not, thank God for Fox. They got enough of the true stories right that the left would not touch or only slant. Funny story. Doesn't change FOX's ratings which kick CNNs butt. Thanks, by the way the other story you mentioned was about CBS and fake news concerning the President and throwing an election. That's another league.
161. It's hard to believe that people are so naive by Fox News with their Bush loving agenda. They love to critize other news channels and those who oppose the Bush administration. If this ham issued seem to be so important to them why critize people who don't eat ham because of thier believes or religion. It's sad to see that Fox have thier nose up the Bush administration, it surprises me that thier nose is not brown when they are on live tv. Their fair and balance agenda it's only suited to the Bush administration. Ask Hannity, he is so in love with Bush he may even ask him to marry him.
162. Concerning your item on Fox, this is not the first time a major news channel has ran a item and then step in it. Dan Rather comes to mind, or CNN during "Desert Storm". This is just two examples. "Dirty Laundy" airs every day 24/7, so many in the media just love to lap it up. You can call it "Fake", but most people will see it for it truely is..."Trash" J0, from New Hampshire
163. FAUX NEWS IS GARBAGE!!! Shut the fk up you neo-Konservatives, your filthy station is as credible as the national enquirer. The only people who watch that channel are the backwash scum of this nation.
Also, it is NOT the number 1 station in this nation, CNN is. The reason Faux gets all of its ratings is because all of the neo-Kons flock to that station, while the rest of the nation needs to choose from many of the other moderate stations which are all the same. Even if Faux was #1, which it isn't, all of the other stations combined blow Faux out of the water in terms of viewers.
Oh and one more thing, the "media" is NOT Liberal! You have absolutely NO IDEA what Liberalism is if you think that a station like CNN is to be considered "Liberal". There is absoulutely NO equivalent to Faux News on the liberal side, NONE whatsoever. What has this country come to that you pigs are so accustomed to Faux News that you think a station like CNN is Liberal?? You Konservative pigs are out of your god damned minds. You're nothing but mindless mouthpieces for Rush, Anne and the rest of those facist pigs.
164. Why are all you Bill-o heads so comfortable with fascism? "When fascism comes to America,it will carry the American Flag in one hand and the bible in the other" - Sinclair Lewis
165. OK, what's new? Fox is foxy to the core. But since they constantly repeat how unfake, truthful, non-spinny they are, people believe them. Sad but true, if you say sugar 1000 times, somehow you get that sweet taste in your mouth. Unrelated, neocons are good for the country because they say so, McDonald's is healthy, etc.
Still the ham story was just silly. Here's a better example of Foxy reporting about 6 months ago during some congressman's AIM-ing a boy scandal. I was jogging on a treadmill and almost fell off when I have read the Fox news caption that the guy was a Rep. from Florida (D). As the rest of us, who do not watch Fox too often, know, the dude was very much Republican, well, before he got caught, of course.
