Fox got caught this week with their hand in the cookie jar, or should I say the ham sandwich. They went on-air with a flat out made up story. The story involved a ham steak being placed in front of Muslim students as a prank in a middle school in Maine. Fox News Channel believed a parody site that said that an Anti-Ham Response Plan had been implemented at the school to fight against ham sandwiches – and ran with the story on-air.
You know they wanted to believe the story. They ran it because it's the kind of thing Fox eats up. They love to ham up these fake stories of political correctness. And this involved making fun of sensitive Muslims, even better. Fox was in hog heaven.
This is their silly "War on Christmas" type of story on crack. Instead of embellishing and making up stories on their own, this time they made the mistake of using an actual parody that could be proven to be fake. That was their real error. They're usually savvier than that.
I have called Fox, "Fake News Channel" before because of their penchant for putting so much bias in stories that they aren't representative of reality. That's actually a much worse transgression than this because there they convince the mainstream media to cover real stories with their false slant -- and the press usually falls for it. In this case, it's good to see that they lived up to the title of literally being the Fake News Channel.
I remember when Fox News demanded that all of the CBS producers and anchors be fired when they went with an uncorroborated story on-air. I am sure they will apply the same standard to their staff, right?
18. Checkmoot: GWB war hero? Vietnam? It's too early in the morning to be laughing this hard. But then I realized you weren't trying to be funny. You're really serious. Please, reach out to your nearest mental health professionals for help.
19. I consider myself independent. I have noticed that die hard conservatives tend to go directly past the content of an event that does not show them in a good light and go directly to name calling. Sickos, commi liberals, weirdos and don't forget the all important term gay, are applied to any person not agreeing, in total with the conservative. All you have to do is take a "fair and balanced" look at these past 6 years to realize and admit, we have a MESS and it's due to this conservative, corrupt administration..
21. What is the big deal? Most of the Fox News stories are fabricated and slanted to go only one way. Watching that channel is like watching a soap opera, only with a comedy feel. Entertaining, just a little, but informative....hardly.
23. Get a grip all of you! We have put our faith in trust in the wrong place, wether conservative or liberal. We are all wrong in some scense, not one of us is perfect.. Let him without faults or sin cast that first stone! IF we all leave this world tomorrow did any of this matter? There is a bigger scene ahead, this is only temporary, and not important.
24. The truth, for any given individual, regardless of personal bias or slant, is whatever he chooses to believe to be true.
Of course, the actual truth never actually changes, but that does not change the fact that regardless of the truth being considered, the actual truth will seldom change the minds of those who believe their position to be the truth.
This story is a false story about a false story...how ironic is that...yet those who wrote attack positions about FOX never themselves bothered to verify the truth about THIS article...the very thing this article lambasts FOX News over alledgedly doing.
So I say go on believing whatever you choose to believe about the truth. Nothing will actually change the truth, regardless of popular opinion, political correctness, or what one chooses to believe about the reality of the truth.
25. I'll bet you all who are complaining don't do diddly-squat to bring about changes to what you are so hostile about...you just yammer...on...and...on...and...on without helping change what it is you are whining about. Do you not have the research skills to check out "facts" for yourselves, so you can make intelligent, fact-based comments for either side?
Hey...there are plenty of countries that support either side of this stupid argument......... MOVE THERE!
26. I'm happy to admit I share the view Fox panders to the bias and bile of those among Conservatives I'd call dogmatic. I'm proud to admit I despise Bill the-rile-em-up Factor. But has anyone noticed that media outlets of all stripes are increasingly feeding us material not about the news, but about the newsmakers and themselves. The televised celebrity pageant that was the recent White House Press Corp annual dinner is a symptom. Will the celebrity comedian ridicule the non-cerebral President? Stay tuned! Sometimes audience appetites are whetted in the guise of a minor or even contrived controversy. Donald versus Rosie is a prime example. Trump gets millions worth of free publicity, learning how easy it was from his Miss USA scam, and Rosie gets millions toward a relaunching of her career via appeal to a growing market segment of cynics. Media outlets got dirt-cheap material, and media upcomers could proclaim Barabara Wa-wa was still not dead!
Neither the news nor the newsmakers rise to any particular standard of significance to make the new grade. Old packages can be recycled into verbal pugilists paid well to pretend they are duking it out for 30 minutes on dozens of news-panel, commentator and multi-host programs. Of course to skyrocket to the top of the charts you must be outrageous, and controversial, and if you are stupid and female you've got to show some skin. Howard Stern, Imus, Brittany Spears, and Paris Hilton. You don't see the connection?
Hellooo, does anyone notice how impossibly difficult it is to get good information about the War in Iraq, Global Warming or Oil Reserves or any other critical subject we need to know more about? But if you want to know everything and nothing about Jessica Simpson's post-mortem entourage, just stay tuned anywhere, 24-7-365.
27. G.W. Bush a volenteer for Viet Nam, and a hero. Are you talking about the Bush in the White House at this time? You surely can't be, because this one is just the oppisite. FNS is right wing propaganda, that goes without saying, because every one knows it.
30. FAUX NEWS WOULDN'T KNOW THE TRUTH IF IT JUMPED UP AND BIT THEM. THEY ARE NOTHING BUT A PROPAGANDA SPREADER SUPPORTED BY THE RADICAL REICH. YOU KNOW, THE HYPOCRITES, THE LIARS, THE DISTORTERS, THE FABRICATORS, THE MANIPULATORS. THEY HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH NEWS...JUST PLAIN OLD BULL SHITE LIKE YOU SEE REDNECKS SITTING IN THEIR TRAILER CAMPS DRINKING BEER, SCRATCHING THEIR BALLS AND PIMPING EACH OTHER.
