Fox got caught this week with their hand in the cookie jar, or should I say the ham sandwich. They went on-air with a flat out made up story. The story involved a ham steak being placed in front of Muslim students as a prank in a middle school in Maine. Fox News Channel believed a parody site that said that an Anti-Ham Response Plan had been implemented at the school to fight against ham sandwiches – and ran with the story on-air.
You know they wanted to believe the story. They ran it because it's the kind of thing Fox eats up. They love to ham up these fake stories of political correctness. And this involved making fun of sensitive Muslims, even better. Fox was in hog heaven.
This is their silly "War on Christmas" type of story on crack. Instead of embellishing and making up stories on their own, this time they made the mistake of using an actual parody that could be proven to be fake. That was their real error. They're usually savvier than that.
I have called Fox, "Fake News Channel" before because of their penchant for putting so much bias in stories that they aren't representative of reality. That's actually a much worse transgression than this because there they convince the mainstream media to cover real stories with their false slant -- and the press usually falls for it. In this case, it's good to see that they lived up to the title of literally being the Fake News Channel.
I remember when Fox News demanded that all of the CBS producers and anchors be fired when they went with an uncorroborated story on-air. I am sure they will apply the same standard to their staff, right?
91. What really is stupid and ridiculous is that a "News" agency would even consider this worth reporting to the people. I reveals the level of intelligence this agency feels its consumers watching have. They obviously feel thier watchers are little more than cretins and simpletons who love to hear junk because its easier for thier little minds to grasp onto..real news would confuse and cause thier lives to be thrown out of sinc.Whats sad is 30% of America loves a good used car salesman and supermarket tabloids..this is evident in the President and Vice President they have and the News they watch.Children often throw a tantrum when grownups keep them from doing things against thier best interest...this is why we see so much lashing out at "liberals" aka people with common sense.
92. Okay, all you young "turks" and politicians,....our NEXT generation who will run the country soon. Thank God I am 77 years old. I have fought in TWO major wars (Korea and Vietnam) as a U.S. Marine. I am grateful that my years are numbered now, because I am not sure that I want to live in the society that we now have. I have watched 13 different presidents preside over these United States, during war and during peace....and I NEVER HAVE SEEN SO MUCH vitriol (some of you may have to look up this word to find the meaning)pour from our youth of the country. It is absolutely SCARY how they spew hatred for one party or the other. Whatever happened to reasoned disagreements? Oh, well. I am sure there are some out there who have very unique comments to make about this post. Semper Fi, Folks. A retired U.S. Marine Officer.
93. I watch fox and Friends every morning and last week that was a really silly story to air.even if it was or is true I think in this fine Country people would laugh at the whole thing. I did and just found it to stupid to be true. There are better things out there to air. But FOX AND FRIENDS IS STILL THE MOST FAIR AND BALANCED out there
94. Fox News has been little more than republican propaganda (views not news) since its inception - complete with daily spin topics furnished by the notoriously conservitive operative and owner Rupert Murdock. Need a new mouthpiece for the Bush administration? Why look further than Fox New's Tony Snow? Unfair and unbalanced from birth. Their biggest fault, however, is pretending to be something else.
96. Why are liberals on the left and conservatives are on the right? Who made up the right and left thing anyway? Can liberals be called the right and conservatives be called the left. I think I will make that call myself. From now on the liberals are on the right and the conservatives are on the left.
97. FOXNEWS running a story about a ham sandwich that ended up not being true is just a little bit different then Dan Rather running a story with documentation that was supposed to discredit OUR president and the documents could have been easilky seen to be false by a kid in high school.
98. Since when did "Bloggers" become a credible source of information? Some booger eating snot nose with an opinion and a computer and all of a sudden they think they are somebody because a few other booger eating snot noses listen to them. As far as the Fox crusade on Christmas is concerned I say good for Fox. If you have something against Christmas do us all a favor and eat a bullet so you will be out of the gene pool.
99. I!unlike the majority of the people that post there opinion here am not "BRANDED".I am liberal in some issues and conservative in others. What i've been reading here is a bunch of blind people lead by the media to believe the sound bites of that stations political affiliation, and most of it is nonsence, even the inteligent coments are based on bias. The other day I made a few comments on watching news from both sides of the hall and forming your own opinion, and all one fool could come up with was a few spelling errors i made, then I saild ok, I cant spell but can you prove any of my points wrong, and he pointed me to some left wing ,right conspiracy books as if that is the final word, HA! dont make me laugh,I can find conspiracy books from both sides accusing the other all F%#@ing day long and I bet there is truth to all as much as exageration to all.All i'm saying is that the media has determinde the outcome of everything they say by there political affiliation. And I have to go so I can't wright all I have on my mind, but i'm going to quote somebody and its sad that the voice of reason is a comedian. In the words of Cris Rock "Liberals are stupid Conservatives are stupid anyone that has there mind made up about an issue before it even comes up is just stupid"
100. For example, should'nt news be news, instead they try to make their news true and the others false and as seen on this blog; people buy it!. People, open your eyes!it's the same news...it's realy called "SLANT".they all do it and if you cant see this then I feel sorry for you, and by consequence for all of us.
101. Checkmoot - Bush is a 'war hero' because he signed up for the National Guard, but didn't actually serve in any war zone or maintain his active flight status because he was too busy working on political campaigns? If that is the 'bar' to being a 'war hero'...anyone who filled out and returned their draft card when they turned 18 is a 'war hero'. I joined the Navy and was deployed during Desert Storm, I'm an actual VETERAN of service to my country deployed to a WAR ZONE - to place Bush into the same category is an insult to myself and all other verterans living or dead, past or present. To speak nothing of future veterans of future wars that will be fought as a direct result of the Persian Gulf War 2.0. 'Conquest' of Iraq, eh? It is against International Law (not to mention the US Constitution) to invade a soverign foriegn country for the sole purpose of conquering it - the purpose of the INVASION of Iraq was to find the non-exsistant Weapons of Mass Destruction, remove Saddam Hussien, and to bring Democracy to Iraq and to end tyranny. That's not CONQUEST it's LIBERATION. Calling it a CONQUEST is an insult to all the men and woman currently serving in this worthless war risking life and limb for Bush's War. It's shows 'courage' for Bush to visit Iraq? What must it be for the Iraqi's who actually have to LIVE there? Is there a word that goes above courageous to live in those conditions? No, it shows 'courage' for Bush to even go out in public in America. But then, I could easily just call it 'idiotcy' too, cause he's just too stupid to realize less than half the population are so brain washed in to liking him. The rest of us see him for who he is, a moron. I love the neo-conservative ideology that to oppose war is to be unpatriotic. Look up the US Constitution sometime, it states explicitly that we all have the freedom of expression and free speech, and guess what...that means we can say we oppose the war, the crappy job our President is doing, and anything else we want to say. Exerting that RIGHT is a direct expression of PATRIOTISM. Not expressing your opinion, not using your voice, that is what is UNPATRIOTIC...going along with the collective and not 'making waves' that's communism...take a trip to Cuba, China, or North Korea if you really feel no one should speak out against the State. Of course you won't have to worry bout Fox News there because all the news channels are State-Own which means the government reports it's own news and propaganda and differing views or opinions are not entertained or encouraged and you can be imprisioned for going against established doctrine. And lastly, if Bush is one of the 'greatest President's Ever' it really doesn't say much about any of the previous 40 some President's does it? Bush may have brought more power to the Presidentcy than any of his predecessors, but at the same token he's also diminished the image of the office and done more damage to our image abroad than any of the past 40 Presidents COMBINED. It doesn't matter who wins the next election, the damage is already done. From where this mad man will leave the country when he leaves office, we only have up to go cause we really have hit rock bottom.
I heard FOX report this story a couple times and it was about a student being reprimanded (or maybe suspended) for leaving a ham "bone" somewhere on a school campus. Not a ham "sandwich." Period.
If you didn't hear all of their reports, please do some research before making false accusations.
103. To comment #84, why do people hate each other so much? This is what's happened since you've been born:
Welfare, affirmative action, staggering rates of illegal aliens entering our country, population growth, high economic inflation, people putting pictures of 12 yr-old's severing heads in Iraq on the internet-do we need to see that? Now the policies that our government has put into place into the American culture is to villify the white male, males are getting worse in school, less in number in college. Being a white male in the US today is like being a poodle at a Pitbull convention. The government institutes policices like affirmative action b/c it does not apply to them. They don't have to go get jobs and don't have to worry about their children getting jobs. They pit the citizens of this country against each other based on race, religion, etc. By continuing in this vein, we are only digging out a tortuous sentence of life for generations to come. We'd be much better off not worrying whose what color, whose gay aand who doesn't like ham, and what girl had an abortion, and instituting a "mind your own goddamn business policy" than anything that is going on now in the government.
104. Fox news and all that goes with it. I see that in the very near future when the democrats have a president in office they will be off the air.Right and left are so sick of being lied too. the will be a house cleaning of all this ilk.

FOX took the story off this website: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/224065/student_leaves_ham_sandwich_on_lunch.html
If you click on the "What is AC" at the top right, you'll see what FOX considers a legitimate source.
