But I can't deny that I'm happy to see the Romney camp call out Al Sharpton on what certainly sounds like an anti-Mormon comment. Here it is:
"As for the one Mormon running for office, those who really believe in God will defeat him anyways, so don't worry about that; that's a temporary situation," Sharpton said during a debate with [Christopher] Hitchens at the New York Public Library. Not everyone in America signed on to Sharpton's elevation to National Moral Arbiter during last month's Imus imbroglio. (The news networks, on the other hand, were happy to acquiesce. That Tawana Brawley messiness was wiped from the record in an instant.)
"In no way did I attack Mormons or the Mormon Church when I responded that other believers, not atheists, would vote against Mr. Romney for purely political reasons," Sharpton said.Last month Sharpton insisted, when asked if Imus was bigot, that he couldn't know what was in Don Imus' heart - i.e., perception matters as much intent. Fair enough.
Well then, all we have to go on are Sharpton's words and how they sound. And they certainly sound, um, bigoted.

16. You have to remenber that Al became a minister before he could spell HOLY BIBLE--No wait he still can't spell HOLY BIBLE.

17. Al Sharpton is always there when a African American gets shot, yelling discrimination. He is never there when an Asian, Latino, American Indian or someone from any other ethnic group gets shot. Gee, do ya think he would make a good president for ****ALL**** the people of our great country?

18. The context in which Mr Sharpton's words were spoken has not been presented. It speaks loud about ther desease that still plagues our society. It's the gotcha mentality. What's a little distortion, if a gotcha is to be had!

19. MR. SHARPTEN IS ONE OF THE MOST DISPICABLE EXCAUSES FOR A MINESTER I HAVE EVER SEEN.
HE STEALS, LIES , CHEATS, AND BEARS FALSE WITNESS ANGAINS ANYONE WHO IS NOT OF HIS RACE.
HE IS NOT A LEADER HE IS PATHETIC.

20. Mr. Sharpton owes many people apologies but probably not Mitt Romney. In politics there is no such thing as bad press and Mitt got, what, four days now of free exposure. Everyone knows Sharpton is a racist fool and maybe because of his big mouth people will take the time to find out what Mormonism is. I know I did. :)

21. I think it is obvious to most that Al Sharpton is the bigot. No one is exempt from mistakes and error in judgment. Don Imus made a mistake and owned up to it. So far I have not seen that kind of humility on the part of Mr. Sharpton. I hope someday we will all see through those that truely wish to divide us and stop listening to them.

22. Sharpton is a bigot. People "BEWARE" if you vote for OBAMA in the Presidential Primary elections our nation will have Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton in appointed offices in Washington D.C. Think before you vote. Sharton called the kettle black with Don Imus.......Sharpton is worse than Imus could ever be. Imus was paid millions to make his controversial remarks. Sharpton claims to be a man of God...."PLEASE".........

23. Sharpton is a racist and a bigot. The liberal media has given him a pass on his actions.

24. Why does the media kiss Al's racist butt all the time????? He has been shown to be the phoney over and over again. Has no one learned since Tawana Brawley?
Roberto at 5:55PM on May 10th 2007
25. Hmmm....Do ya think we could get him fired?????

26. For 1, Al Sharpton is a fuckin flake rascist bastard, and he can die, alonog with Jesse, and Johnny(wait he's already dead) And im not racist, but those 3 were parasites of society. Lookin for any racial dispute they could find, and stickin there nose in it, Personally..... who the fuck cares what they think, They go out of their way to let every1 know how they feel, when in fact, no1 gives a shit. Everytime a problem presents itself that has to do with some1 of color, they somehow find a way to get involved, I say let people settle their own problems, and fuck all 3 of them

27. Sharpton has for so long been at the far end of the receiving line of bigoted comments and actions of others, he and some of his cronies forget sometimes "it takes one to know one".

28. Aspiring or self declared leaders within a political grouping (local, national, corporatation, ethnical, religious) will do or say anything to gain or maintain power. Currently the self declared leaders (Jesse Jackson & Al Sharpton) of Blacks are represented by the media as the “true” oracles of the group, and as a result dispense awesome influence within the National political scene. All of us have recently witnessed the Media and Corporations caving to the intimidation by these two political leaders who promised financial ruin to all Major institutions that did not assist in exiling Imus. These particular Black “leaders” behaved in a similar fashion to hypocritical politicians within other groups. However, the problem with this power assault is that it is immune from media or outside critics because of the historic collective guilt of the non-Black institutions( Principally the Media) and the fear of retribution from the same Black leaders( NACCP, Al Sharpton, , Jesse Jackson). The Media in this regard can’t even conduct a meaningful critique of the “Rev” appellations that Al & Jesse insist upon. Both Al and Jesse have demonstrated in word and deed that they are not worthy of theological leadership in any pure sense of the word, while the Media trembles in fear of retribution if they question Al & Jesse concerning the Myth of their religiosity.

29. Reverand Sharpton should consider an apology for his own spiritual growth and benefit (in the same way he may want to apologize to the Duke lacrosse team, and those whom he beshirched in the Tawana Brawely case), but he should not be compelled to do so. I know that I have made mistakes and I'm not willing to cast a stone.
