The contestant looks pale and zitty at their first local audition, when they walk into the small conference room at the Birmingham, Alabama Ramada Inn, lit poorly by fluorescent lights from above. By the time the obit plays to the strains of "I'm Goin' Home," the contestant has a healthy Peach Pit glow.But the more startling changes happen season-to-season. We all remember Clay Aiken emerging from behind at last year's finale, looking like k.d. lang, to greet his desperate doppelganger, Michael Sandecki (aka Clay Faiken), while both sang "Don't Let The Sun Shine Down On Me." Sandecki became crazed. I wasn't sure if he was going to kiss Clay - or try to stab him. It was a terrifying "Single White Idol" moment. Luckily the robotic Ryan efficiently straitjacketed Sandecki and Clay was safe. (While being carted off afterward, Sandecki was heard pining, "I've always depended on the kindness of Seacrest.")
But Clay's transformation has been eclipsed by two others this year: Kellie Pickler's astonishing new jugs. And Elliott Yamin's new teeth, aka The White Cliffs of Dover.

17. I neve liked Pickler in the 1st place. There is a video where she looks hideous and sounds worse, singing a "cryin in my beer song". She is a 2nd rate talent, at best. Boob jobs are a dime a dozen, nothing special. Elliott's teeth are better and he has true talent.

18. I never could stomach Pickler in the 1st place. She is a 2nd rate talent at best. I saw a video she has done, looking hideous and sounding worse; whining out a tyical "crying in your beer" song. Fake boobs are a dime a dozen, nothing special. Elliott's new teeth are an improvement, and all that hair, woooow. Elliott will have longevity in a singing career due to true talent and lovely spirit.

19. Elliott is absolutely handsome now. He looks like the guy on "House." Kellie, on the other hand ... oh my god. While A.I. turned Carrie Underwood into a "Country Angel" .... they made Pickler "Country White Trash." Why that girl would allow herself to be so exploited is beyond me. I don't buy the dumb act. She is dumb like a fox. She, or her handlers, should have known better. Those boobs are a joke.

21. I always liked Elliot and his voice, but the song was not all that great. What suits him are love balads that show his voice. I love his hair now and I think he would have looked more unique if he had not capped his teeth, just grown his hair. Why conform? Be unique! Be yourself, not a copy of someone else. Be the best original!

23. Elliott obviously needed the teeth done (To me, it was the only reason he didn't win), but I have to say that I find the new teeth just as distracting as the old ones. Couldn't he have gotten a white that was closer to creme (or, you know, teeth-colored than to paper? They look completely unnatural.

24. The reason Milinda was cut by American voters was because she was a professional backup singer. I did not and will not vote for a professional, I thought the show was for amatures who get their big break? Milinda will do fine and make plenty of money, but I am glad she did not win since she is a pro.
