We have already learned that Gore is third in the polls, if he runs I would imagine he would fly to the top.
For more about Gore Time Magazine spent some time asking him about the book, the environment, and his political career. here.... The Last Temptation of Gore.
Family Guy recently fantasized about the thought of Al Gore being President.

16. Oh my goodness! What a lack of civility! I don't agree with everything Bush has done, especially in the area of government spending. But isn't this post about Al Gore and his chances if running for president? Maybe we would all be better off if people from both sides quit using rude words (Les and Jackie) and concentrated on the issues. And as a side note, the 2000 election worked just the way it was designed to work. It is not a popular election, it is based on the electoral college. Not perfect but it's been this way for maybe a couple hundred years?

17. Its amazing that people like Les Dewitt (#5) can't stop living in the past and using outdated talking points. Regardless of what you think about the 2000 election, Bush as RE-elected in 2004. The surplus vanished when the economy tanked after terrorists flew planes into New York and Washington DC (do you remember 9/11?). Try understanding the big picture instead of reading from the book of SOROS. I'll take a Jesus freak over a kool-aid drinker any day, thank you very much.

18. I believe journalist's like Diane Sawyer should report the news not attepmpt to direct where the news may go with a scoop. Gore is correct in asking her to listen to her questions.
Why did 75% of American's believe Sadam was responsible for 9/11, because that is what Bush wanted us to believe and the media wrote about it.
I don't think Americian's want to know about Gore losing weight in order to run for President. Report the news not give me information about Anna Nocole or Britney, or Paris and don't try to make something news when it only diverts the truth to make the ego look good or sell newspapers.

19. Al Gore is an alarmist and sore loser. I haven't heard anything from him that makes any intelligent sense. His plan for global warming includes paying into a type of green fund that "quess what"????..goes into a company that he is part owner of. I believe the only reason he became Vice President was because of how he "Looked" next to Clinton.

"One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line."
--President Bill Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998
"If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program."
--President Bill Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998
"Iraq is a long way from [here], but what happens there matters a great deal here. For the risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face."
--Madeline Albright, Feb 18, 1998
"He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983."
--Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb, 18, 1998
"[W]e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs."
Letter to President Clinton, signed by:
-- Democratic Senators Carl Levin, Tom Daschle, John Kerry, and others, Oct. 9, 1998
"Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process."
-Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998
"Hussein has ... chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies."
-- Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov. 10, 1999
"There is no doubt that ... Saddam Hussein has reinvigorated his weapons programs. Reports indicate that biological, chemical and nuclear programs continue apace and may be back to pre-Gulf War status. In addition, Saddam continues to redefine delivery systems and is doubtless using the cover of a licit missile program to develop longer-range missiles that will threaten the United States and our allies."
Letter to President Bush, Signed by:
-- Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), and others, Dec 5, 2001
"We begin with the common belief that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and a threat to the peace and stability of the region. He has ignored the mandate of the United Nations and is building weapons of mass destruction and th! e means of delivering them."
-- Sen. Carl Levin (D, MI), Sept. 19, 2002
"We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country."
-- Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002
"Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power."
-- Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002
"We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction."
-- Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002
"The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons..."
-- Sen. Robert Byrd (D, WV), Oct. 3, 2002
"I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force -- if necessary -- to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security."
-- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002
"There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years ... We also should remember we have always underestimated the progress Saddam has made in development of weapons of mass destruction."
-- Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D, WV), Oct 10, 2002
"He has systematically violated, over the course of the past 11 years, every significant UN resolution that has demanded that he disarm and destroy his chemical and biological weapons, and any nuclear capacity. This he has refused to do"
-- Rep. Henry Waxman (D, CA), Oct. 10, 2002
"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members ... It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."
-- Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002
"We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has, and has had for a number of years, a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction."
-- Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), Dec. 8, 2002
"Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction ... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real..."
-- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003

21. Irv, Dick and Jane, you should be ashamed of yourselves. Ad hominum, ad nauseum. All Gore said was we have established a way of making decisions before looking at the evidence. I respect Al Gore. If he were to run I would call to see how I could help, donate or host.
Steve Seivers at 12:42PM on May 22nd 2007
22. Al Gore makes some sense, but he's a politician and above all, an opportunist.
He's very adept at sensing the way the political winds are blowing, and blowing along with it--he's on record for supporting the Iraq war, now he acts like he didn't; he's doing it now with his environmental crusade, no thanks, he's not our man for '08.

23. Faye, I never had a problem with the fact that Saddam needed ousting or that it would most likely need to be done with military force. However what i do have a problem with is the means by which our president procured the approval for that force. He Lied (a whole lot on multiple occasions). We as taxpayers payed 60 million dollars to find out that Clinton got a hummer in the oval office and that he has an unorthodox method of moistening his stogie, our legistlaters went through the process of impeachment because he was thought to have perjured himself under oath (although he was correct in saying he did not have sex with Ms. Lewinski....read the biological definition of sex, you expect a lawyer to not use words according to their definition). Now we have a president who has knowingly brought us the worst conflict in decades through false pretenses and false intelligence reports (LIES, LIES, and MORE LIES) and we sit by and let him skate. I am not for his impeachment this close to the end of his term it would be ineffective and senseless to waste the money (history will show him as the buffoon without wasting the time and money to make it official). but make no mistake he lied repeatedly. People are apparently so caught up in partisan politics that the truth doesnt matter as long as it is their "party" that benefits. Now back to the point at hand which is Al Gores interview with Ms. Sawyer. Yes she is a news sensationalist yes Mr. Gores points completely flew over her head, and yes I think he would make as good of a president as any we have had in my lifetime of 42 years. It also amazes me how many people will grasp at any amount of information if it suits their purpose no matter the validity of the information. Global Warming has been time and time again been shown to be occurring and its effects have been scientifically logged and compiled and as a member of the scientific community I am amazed or dismayed rather at the number of non-scientist who apparently are incapable of examining the facts from the scientific community and accepting that Global warming is a threat and that actions need to be taken. its the same mentallity that cigarette smokers took for the decades prior to the tobacco companies getting busted using their own studies that they themselves performed which showed the ills of tobacco. when is it time to act? when will you be convinced? will it be too late?

24. Al Gore may, in fact, be an alarmist. My question is, "Why aren't more people alarmists in response to the events of the past six years?"
Public discourse was hijacked, bound and gagged by the NeoCons driving domestic and foreign policy following the attacks of 9/11. Our leaders led our nation into attacking another sovereign nation based on misdirection, misinformation and lies. Our credibility, our national treasure and the blood of our soldiers has been squandered in pursuit of the naive NeoCon pipedreams of cheap oil and a puppet government to do our bidding in the Middle East.
The American public mindlessly followed this administration into a ruinous debacle in Iraq, while we lost focus on our primary reason for going into Afghanistan in the first place--to dismantle the terrorist organization that attacked us on 9/11 and the regime that gave them safe harbor. To date we have yet to accomplish our first objective, although the White House re-invents new vague, far-reaching "objectives" for its "war on terror" daily.
I sincerely hope that the '08 Election brings sweeping, revolutionary changes in the way our country does business. After living through the past six years of what will surely be remembered as the "Dark Years of American History" filled with a sense of dread about what my president and his minions will do next, I am desperate for a change. I, like many Americans, am alarmed by what I've witnessed during the past six years. If that makes me an alarmist, then so be it.
Al Gore is challenging us to turn over a brain cell and think for ourselves--to gather evidence and make informed decisions based on the best availble information. This runs contrary to the Bush tactic of arbitrarily and capriciously imposing his will on others and then expecting them to graciously towel off and send him flowers of gratitude the morning after. The arrogance and lack of accountability of this administration should be alarming to every American.

26. Faye,
Believing a lie that is told to you by someone you trust, especially when you are at a particularly vulnerable point in your life, makes you the victim of deception--it does not necessarily make you a liar. Intentionally telling lies makes you a liar.
Everyone agreed that Saddam was a bad guy (although, during the Reagan/Bush years, he was OUR bad guy). Because of this, crippling sanctions had been imposed on Iraq that had left him a frustrated, impotent non-issue. He was contained.
Enter George W. Bush, feeding everyone a bunch of misinformation, which they believed to be credible, and (regrettably) repeated. They were acting in good faith with the facts they were fed by Bush.
Now the neoCons are trying to use their statements to discredit them. Bush lied. He was responsible. Harry Truman was known for stating that the "buck" stopped with him. Bush needs to stop trying to pass the buck and take responsibility for the mess he's created both at home and abroad.

27.
I think Gore is dead on. Since Carter was in office, its been the unyielding tactic of the neocons to attack the man instead of the argument every time. Limbaugh, Hannity and Fox News made careers out of this and frankly, its getting old and very useless.
While Gore is not the panacea to the nation's problems, perhaps his book is a needed read for millions. Better, reasoned and clearer debate is needed on the issues. Bush's maladministration has already shown what lack of intelligence coupled with unlimited power can do to a country.

28. All of you Libs out there wringing your hands about the 2000 election and the defeat of Al Gore just need to shut your fat, whining mouths, and read the U. S. Constitution.
The Electoral College elects the President of the United States--a provision written into the document to protect future generations of Americans from falling under the hypnotic influence of a charismatic leader, or falling prey to our base emotional impulses and making rash, impulsive decisions that we would be forced to live with for the duration of his term in office.
Wisley, the Constitution was altered by Republicans after the tenure of FDR to prevent any president from being elected to more than two terms in office. Otherwise, we might still be opening the evening newpaper and looking at Clinton's fat, smirking mug.
America required a return to decency, and the 2000 election delivered the Oval Office back to the rightful hands of the moral majority represented by George W. Bush. You baby killers may have won the "popular election", but we had the money and the courts, and we came out on top.
The Founders new what they were doing when they wove these caveats into the tapestry of the Constitution. The unwashed masses cannot be trusted to make decisions of this magnitude. You should just get out of the way and let us think for you.
You no longer have to open the paper and read about perverse acts of depravity and "oral this" and "cigar that". A simply "thank you" would suffice.

29. Al Gore, the raving maniac, does NOT belong in the White House. He belongs in "Hollywood" with the rest of the buffoons that occupy that city. What a worthless example of leadership. This man, Gore, needs to "go away" from the public scenery and/or just fade into the oblivious demented life of most Hollywood idiots. What a LOAD, this guy !!!!
John at 2:49PM on May 22nd 2007
30. Yeah thanks Jorge, Thanks for blindly and unthinkingly casting a vote that helped put the man in office who unwitting gave the terrorists more than they could ever hope for.
If you or those like you think of yourselves as people who can be trusted to make decisions then you must be completly unaware of any of the events that have transpired over the last 5 years.
