American Idol is an institution in crisis. Ratings are down and the base is dispirited after a season that saw the integrity of the show threatened by VFTW and the ascendancy of Sanjaya.
Whom will the voters entrust to right the Idol ship and restore glory to the enterprise? Blake or Jordin?
And please take my "Mo Wants To Know" poll about deaf actress Marlee Matlin at last night's Idol.

2. Yeah, Sanjaya was a part of it, but most people thought of him as a joke, albeit one that went on a bit too long.
It was the voting off of extraordinary talent like Melinda and Lakisha in favor of the sappy Blake and insipid Jordin - two people who in any other season would have been voted off by the middle of the competition.
This just goes to show you what happens when the voting gets into the hands of preteens and teens who wouldn't know talent if it kicked their teeth out - which they would richly deserve. Who else sits and votes 200 times because they think a teen deserves the vote instead of the best voice?
As I type, both Jordin and Blake just got finished singing the usual horrid song they get stuck singing every year due to some "talent" contest. The fix has been in from the start - the song was just up Jordin's alley - a boring ballad that she could sing while standing like a statue with her large mouth open, beeseeching the world.
Blake never stood a chance with the song - it was Jordin's type of song, not his. He couldn't even be an original performer, his real gift, with it.
What a grueling season for us viewers. I am so happy its over. I hope next season they find a way to let the voting be more fair to those who don't vote hundreds of times for the "cool" teen with mediocre talent. Otherwise they can lose more viewers until the only ones who care are kids, at which time the reason for the show will be gone - then so will the show.

3. Blake is no singer, never was. To pit him in a singing contest against JORDAN

4. To me it does not really matter now ,blake, or jorden. I voted for Blake of cause just on spite.
It was funny having to hear MR yo check it out dude
keep repeating tonight that it is a singing contest
now that the two best singers are not even there.
of cause melinda and likisha. in a year when the talent was very low the two best weren't even there
in the end. very poor year.

5. How is it possible for Paula Abdul to stay on the show? She is intoxicated for most part in such an obvious way- on one hand we preach to the young generation various values/ morals- and here she is in plain view, paid top salary, on a show mostly watched by young people- so intoxicated, so useless-this is where the show lost credibility with me-

6. Yes, tehy should have picked a song that both of them could sing, it was right up Jordins alleyf or that last song. It wasn't fair to Blake, he has his own style, and she just sounds the same with every song she sings. Randy was in his glory, we know that would happen, he is not going to vote for the white boy.

7. Blake is the winner, he is such a peformer, where as Jordin just stands there with that big mouth open. Does anyone think she looks like an Amazon???? Who does she date, Lurch????

8. I think an American Idol should be an individual who you would pay to see in concert. This person must be entertaining and appeal to those people who still buy cd's. Think back for a moment how popular Bruce Springstein was and think about the tone of his voice. It has less to do with the ability to belt one out and more to do with their ability to connect with the audience. Melinda was talented, but she just did not appeal to to the record buying fans nor did Lakisha. This is why Jordin and Blake are in the finale. I think the producers know that Blake will make it either way based on prior votes. So, they deliberately gave them a ballad that was clearly made for Jordin. If they would have had them sing, "Beautiful Day" by U2 Blake would have blown her out of the water too. Blake is simply a better entertainer. Which is why he got my vote. Though I have to say it was nice to see Chris Daughtry again.

9. i think jordin's gonna win, even though i'm rooting for blake. don't get me wrong...jordin's a great singer, but i just don't see myself listening to her on the radio. i mean, celine dion's a great singer, but i don't listen to her.

10. SingIt2Me, i definitely have to agree with you on the fact that the last song was written for jordin rather than blake, which i didn't think was fair at all.

11. Either could win, Blake for being creative with his music, Jordin for her voice. I like Blake's personality and his ability to create. Jordin has a wonderful voice, especially for a 17 year old. I personally don't believe either are "Idol" material, but to be honest, this year there were no true "Idol" singers.

12. The best singing competition?
Is Randy Jackson kidding?
If this was actually a singing competition Melinda would have had it in a heartbeat. Instead we got these two bores.
If these two are the best AI can come up with in the "best" singing competition, then this should be their final season.

13. This so called competition is so rigged!!!! Forget voting, it's useless! Melinda,GONE,LeKisha,GONE, Blake, about to be gone, they totally had the last song made for Jordan. She is 17, she has plenty of time to make a career,Blake is an awsome entertainer, and very original, but he is already out of there before he performs, thats just bull!I am voting my butt off for Blake, but it doesn't matter they have already decided before we ever voted, I loved Phil, and I voted faithfully but look where that got me and him!I pray for you Blake, maybe the judges will have a change of heart, you'll sell a ton more cd's than Jordan ever will! Good Luck!!!
