I mean no disrespect to the Oscar-winning deaf actress. She can go anywhere she damn pleases.
But, the thing is ... she's deaf.

1. All the activism in this thread is inspiring, and I'm in no position to refute notions that the deaf can "feel" the "beat," as it were, but I caught that shot of Marlee, too, and my VERY FIRST thought was, "Hey, isn't that the lady from WHAT THE BLEEP? And isn't she deaf?!" Yeah, and then I chuckled.
Calling Mo an Imus, though? Lighten up, America.

3. I think you are an idiot for bringing up a question like that about Marlee and I find it very disrespectful. Marlee may be deaf but she is an extraoridnary person and actress and should be able to go wherever she wants. Your question has no creditability and it is just plain stupid and insensitive.

4. Do my posts bother you Mo?.....Because really I looked back on everything I wrote, I dont know why but lately you have become my new obsession. It may be because I think your hot, I like the way you talk,etc....
past obsessions include: Keith Urban, Joe Don Rooney(Rascal Flatts), Jake Weber, etc...

5. Im deaf and I go to movies that are not captioned etc. Sometimes you want to be where the "in crowd" is regardless of the level of enjoyment it does or does not bring.

6. Hello,
I have a daughter, now 22, who is deaf. I was a room mother at her school. (It was a school for the deaf.)
They had dances every year. Lots of them! Beach party dances, homecoming dances, Prom..you name it! Those kids could dance better than some of the hearing high school kids in my neighborhood!
Most 'deaf' people are not 100% deaf. And ANYONE can enjoy music, through hearing it or 'feeling' it.
I say "Way to go!" to Marlee for showing her support to the finalists!

7. With this poll, it appears that you don't really know anyone who is deaf. They do listen to music, feeling vibrations and using other senses that those of us who can hear don't really use fully. Plus, they can read lips and pick up the words being sung. Plus, they do like to be around non-deaf people. Maybe one of her reasons for being there is to educate ignorant people who don't have a clue about the capabilities of people who are deaf, or of people in general with disabilities.

9. Ouch, Mo . . . I usually dig what you have to say. Methinks ya may be a wee bit jealous of all the attention Imus got for ramming his foot in his mouth. Not a bad attempt, but only time will tell.

12. Mo. Try and figure this out. Marlee is deaf but her kids are not and they're fans. She didn't want her 11 year old daughter going to the show unaccompanied. Plus, Marlee is deaf not blind. Half the show is about the spectacle and what person who is a fan of this kind of stuff want something like deafness get in her way. If that were the case, she would've never entered acting and won an Academy Award. Thank goodness comments, even jokingly, like the ones you made don't bother her. But what bothers me are the ones out there who might have never met a deaf person and think that all they do is sit in silence and close themselves off from the world; far from it.
And I'm speaking as a person who knows Marlee well; I'm the interpreter guy, Jack, who's worked with her for 21 years and my parents are deaf too.
Have a good one.

Half the show is about the spectacle and why would a person who is a fan of this kind of stuff want something like deafness get in her way? If that were the case, she would've never entered acting and won an Academy Award because she's "handicapped." Thank goodness comments, even jokingly, like the ones you made don't bother her. But you know what bothers me? Comments like the one you made might come across to people who might have never met a deaf person as fact and just onfirm the misconception that all deaf people do is sit in silence and close themselves off from the world; far from it.

14. C'mon, people...lay off our boy here. In interviews, Marlee has a terrific sense of humor, and I'm sure she had a chuckle at the irony without anyone having to bring it up to her.

15. No BIG deal that Marlee went to the show I don't see what all the fuss is about. I am hearing impaired and I have been watching American Idol from the start.
