Tom DeLay claimed recently that his adultery was better than Newt Gingrich's because at least he didn't do it while they were prosecuting Bill Clinton for lying about his own adulterous affair. Yeah, if you're going to cheat on your wife, it's much better to get it out of the way before you start demonizing someone else for doing the same thing.
Here's DeLay on his moral superiority to Gingrich and why his adultery was better:
"I was no longer committing adultery by that time, the impeachment trial. There's a big difference."
Do you think there's a big difference? I wonder if his wife thought there was big difference?
He also said it was okay because he later found Jesus.
"Also, I had returned to Christ and repented my sins by that time."
I wonder if his wife agreed with that rationale, too. Try telling this to your wife -- No, it's okay honey, I found Jesus after I slept with that other woman.
Would that excuse work for you?
I might have helped to find Jesus before he jumped in the sack with someone he wasn't married to, but it's funny how that always works. Jesus is usually hiding until right after someone gets caught doing something really bad. And then all of a sudden people find him around every corner.
What do you think -- is there such a thing as better adultery?

1. I don't think Clinton "lied about an affair" is appropriate. He perjured himself in front of a grand jury to deny someone who was accusing him of sexual harrassment her constitutional rights.
I don't give a crap about any of their affairs. Why is the left always harping on them?

3. Clinton's crime was perjury. What kind of example does that set for our country when the President of the United States claims it is ok to lie under oath if it is a matter you don't want others to know the truth about.
The affair is a matter he must deal with between himself and his wife and God.
His crime of perjury is made all the worst by his position of being the #1 citizen of this country. During his second term in office we saw a large increase in "lying" type crimes in the corporate world. These people were caught up in the corrupted mentality set by our president at the time.

4. Oh-of course there is! Not. Leave it up to a politician to come up with that one. The Hollywood celebs have the current hold on alcohol/drug mess ups with immediate "cures" of therapy; politicians it is affairs and Jesus/religion. If this were normal, everyday people: we'd be in jail in the first case and thrown out on our homes in the latter. All of them are idiots-unfortunately-almost all of them in the political world are no different-they have all cheated and lied. I just can't believe he'd be so stupid to say such a thing-now there are degrees of "cheating."

8. The replys by the obvious republican right wing nuts show how it is possible G.W Bush was elected twice. I have never heard that one before Mike, but its nice to know lying was invented by Clinton. It is such a shame BUSH was such an apt pupil and has advanced this invention of Clintons to an art form.

14. Which adulterous affair was worse? Well actually, to be honest, I think adultery is an incredibly personal moral failure and it is very hard for anyone of us to judge the relative merit of one adulterous situation over another. Lets look at this objectively. Clinton had fellatio committed upon him by a 22 year old female intern in the Oval Office while he was eating a pizza. He then denied under oath that he had ever had "sex" with "that woman", later saying that fellatio is not sex. Hmmmm! A very interesting viewpoint.
Then we have the other two winners, DeLay and Gingrich. These two clowns are saddled with the burden of belonging to the political party that feels it has a corner on morality. They have both been in very highly important leadership positions within that group of ersatz saints. To be honest with you, I really see this entire spread of events across this particular field of human personalities as a comedy of errors. None of these men are moral giants. All of these men are professional politicians, which is to say, in their world the end justifies the means. Always. At every juncture. No exceptions.
So I ask all of you, whether you are on the Right or the Left of the American political spectrum; must we really make a distinction of any kind between these three professional talkers?

15. Newt did it twice. The first time he served his first wife divorce papers in the hospital when she was coming out of cancer surgery. He had been having an affair with with the woman who was to become his 2nd wife.
