Much has already been written about Lindsay Lohan's recent troubles, some of it musical, so there's no need to go on about them at length here.
Instead, let's briefly discuss the ripple effect, which is what happens with other people decide that celebrity lifestyles are so desirable that they must be foisted on innocent little children. (The words "innocent," "desirable," and "lifestyles" should all be in ironic quotation marks, but that starts to look cluttered, and it "disrupts" the "flow" of "thought.")
After you watch this video -- can it be real? -- a number of questions will no doubt spring to mind, but the one that got me was this one: how can every kid be the tannest kid in the class? Isn't that impossible? (h/t: BWE)

33. I'm black--natural tan. I just find this and the whole self-tanning trend hilarious!

34. This is absolutely disgusting. I can't believe a parent would bring her daughter who can't be more than 7 to a tanning salon because she doesn't want her to be pale like last year. Parents like that encourage all of the insecurities girls grow up with. It amazes me that we still have to ask why young girls are starving themselves, becoming addicted to drugs and alcohol, and acting out in other forms. Let a little girl be a little girl, she should be playing with baby dolls and Barbies not worrying about being as tan as Lindsay Lohan.

35. Ok, first off, NO ONE in S. California should have to pay for a tan. Did we forget about the beaches?!?!? If you want skin cancer, atleast go outsie and get a little exercise while getting it! And a mother practically PRESSURING her daughter into it, that's LAME. LAME. LAME. LAME. Save yourself the $1300 bucks and buy some of that tanning lotion instead or even spend a little time outside! (But always wear sunscreen)

36. How incredibly irresponsible. That woman should not be allowed to raise children, she is adding more poison to our already tainted society. Sad very, very sad.

38. this is crazy.paying allthat money just to be dark. now i have a 10 year old daughter who is dark and gets picked on often because of it and she isnt even that dark!america, america whats wrong with people.white people want to be dark and black people want to be light.i dont get it

39. The worst thing about this is not skin cancer. Spray-on tans do not cause skin cancer because you are not exposed to UV. But the message that this mother gives her daughter: ie, "I want you to look like Lindsey Lohan, aka BE LL," is terribly sad for this little girl.

40. 1300 bucks on a tan to make your daughter look like a little rich priss that can't act or sing. You know Lets get real here dropping 1300 bucks on a tan whats next bailing your 17 year old out at 3am for dui? Parents need to draw the line somewhere and that starts by saying NO!

41. No one has mentioned that it's illegal to tan a person under the age of 16 in California without a Doctors note and none of us saw a Doctors note change hands, i wonder how long until charges are filed

42. The video made me so sad for that little girl. I saw the show, and the poor child actually said, "Mom, I don't want to do this". The child has more sense than the mom. A beautiful little girl is sent the message that she's not pretty enough as she is, let's go ahead and reserve a spot in rehab, she'll be there in 10 yrs or so.
Mom, you should be ashamed.
Cynthia at 3:38PM on May 31st 2007
43. The irony is, this little girl looked adorable going in and horrid afterwards. We all get ugly on the natch, all it takes is time. No need to spend thirteen hundred.
Wish Belkin at 3:42PM on May 31st 2007
44. this video was outrageous!!! i mean who would make their daughter look not pale for a school pic.???? that is just totally STUPID!!!!
victoria at 4:12PM on May 31st 2007
45. This is just crazy, i was so blown away, the girls like what, 8? The mother is just crazy it seems, I mean way to lower the childs self-esteem. And why would any mother want their child to look like Lohan? Thats bad enough. That child is going to grow up to be a spoild brat. My mother can afford me to go tanning, but she doesnt want me to because its not safe, and because she doesnt really work her self up if im pale or not.
