Some consider this an important issue, many believe it shouldn't matter what your sexual orientation is to fight for your country. There was a story not to long ago about 58 translators who were fired because they were Gay, here is a clip about one of them.

Mo Rocca appears on a bunch of shows, including CBS News Sunday Morning (with the indescribably wonderful Charles Osgood), The Tonight Show on NBC, and NPR's Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me! He's a sometime judge on Iron Chef and was featured on Telemundo's Amore Descarado. Last year he starred on Broadway in the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. His expose "All the President's Pets" was published by Crown in 2004.

1. It really amazes me that in this day and age our government is still caught up in sexuality, enough that, even in a time when some soldiers are forced to do 3 tours in Iraq or Afghanistan, and (for whatever reason) there are homosexual Americans that want to go fight for this country, we are too concerned with who someone sleeps with to let them.
As a lesbian, i for one am so sick of the assumption that gays are just walking hormones, looking for someone to corrupt or have sex with. Give me a break!
We live in a Democracy, NOT a Theocracy (although that seems to be changing with every year).

2. The question was a stupid one; whether or not gays should be able to serve in the military, as they already do, and have always done. The real question is whether or not those gay miltary members must continue to live a deceitful life in order to do so. A military which prides itself on honor, integrity and respect throws that away when it require lies and deceit as a requirement for service. What a pity!

3. Being gay has nothing to do with serving for ur country.The idea that sex would be a problem is absurd. Males and Females already serve in the military and heterosexual relations seem not to be a concern or problem,

4. This is the ridiculous, ones sexual orientation has anything to do with performance in the military. Does being straight offer a reason for discharge also? Think of the female that gets her male "enemy" in bed and "secrets about our country are divulged. Think about this.
