Protests at Germany's G8 summit took a spectacular turn yesterday as police launched a high-speed boat chase through the Baltic and rammed two Greenpeace inflatable speed boats which had breached a maritime security zone, pitching crew members overboard and injuring three.
You read Greenpeace's perspective on this event on their blog.
Once I find video footage of the Greenpeace air balloon, I'll be sure to post it. Ha!

1. I had to spend several millions of taxpayers dollars to keep Greenpeace from disrunting a $100, million dollar flight test of the missile defense agency.
Greenpeace should have to pay for every penny of the defensive measures the Police had to pay to protest the peace from these idiots.
If they were killed there wouldn't be a single tear shed.

2. It appears CLEARLY that the protesters turned into the path of the police boats.
BETTER HEADLINES when someone gets killed, even though they didn't belong there in the first place.

3. Greetings German Security Forces:
Hearty congratulations on doing your job to secure the area around the G8 Summit, especially now that we have to worry about Islamo-Fascist suicide bombers, who could easily masquerade as "GreenPeace" activists in small boats loaded with explosives/shoulder-fired missiles/machine guns, etc.
I know that many folks in GreenPeace have good intentions, but if they blatantly violate a security perimeter, they should expect rough treatment from police.
I hope the injured GreenPeace folks will heal quickly and be OK.
I also hope that whatever message they were trying to convey is worth the marine gasoline or diesel that they burned in their boats. Wouldn't sailing craft be more elegant and much quieter and less polluting?

5. If our governments started to listen to Greenpeace 20 years ago we would have been step a head in the global warming issue 20 years ago. Remember of the how both the Republicans (Reagan/Bush) and Democrats (Clinton) refused to listen to them. But no, our government/big business duped the public once again. I'm still amazed the parents of the world are content to lead their children to the door of extinction. In the next 100 years 30% of the species of the plant with be extinct. Thanks Mom and Dad !

6. There was a time when Greenpeace meant Green & Peace. Now they often put themselves and others in harms way. And what a waste of gas on these small boats. Not the way to represent the organization or a good use of resources. Shame, Shame, Shame.
While all this was going on, some other threat could have been made real.

7. Back in the day when I strongly supported Greenpeace, boats were used to block harpons from clear shots at whales, from allowing boats with toxic material to dump into our oceans or better yet try to try and stop nuclear testings in our oceans. Breaking security zones to get attention was not appropriate...statements of disapproval for political issues need to be done in a more civilized manner. But bottom line is they are speaking out for inappropriate actions and behaviors for our environment. Can we each say we have made our voice heard?

8. green peace? add fanatics.Kind of like advocating life by killing a doctor. What idiot supports this idiocy?

9. The police were perfectly justified in the amount of force they used. Theres only two ways to stop a boat when the driver refuses to stop, ram it or shoot and sink it. I think we all agree the police choose the safer of the two. by the way I'm a strong supporter of greenpeace

10. Anybody know the make & model of the German police craft.............Remarkable!.......Gpeace better get bigger engines......

11. This is a classic case of 2 wrongs don't make a right. The police were correct to go after the boaters but they went too far. The boaters went where they shouldn't have been & that's all, they did not do anything that showed aggression or intent to be destructive etc. The police were out of conrol & there for no better than what they represent to protect against. You can not have lunacey on the water... period ... from boaters OR POLICE! Using "terrorism & lack of self control to "fight" the same is just DUMB! I do not support any Marine Police who's actions are what we saw... G8 summit or not, terrorism or not. There were better ways available to handle this, even to keep boaters out of the ZONE but that was not done... so... duh. I am a boater, I own my own boat, I can't stand boaters who are hooligans & disruptive & unsafe & risk catastrophe, I certainly don't want the same from the Marine officials. I respect & appreciate the Marine Police & Coast Guard, but I do not support what I saw on this film.

13. Cops live for this stuff. They always win. All you can hope for is to get media attention that's favorable to your cause. I'd say they lost this one
Corporate fascism and money and power rule. Maybe Greenpeace should should go public and sell shares to finance a better boat.
