With this post, Power Line bids farewell to the AOL Newsblogger site. This need not mean farewell to readers, however. We invite them to visit us at Power Line and to participate in the Power Line Forum.
We've enjoyed our time with Newsbloggers. However, John and I are both full-time lawyers who blog as a hobby. We've decided that the limited time we have for our hobby is best spent entirely on our own blog.
We thank AOL, and especially our friend Coates Bateman, for giving us the opportunity to participate on this blog. And we wish our former co-bloggers well.

1. With Jeff Hoard on and Powerline off the IQ level of this site is dropping precipitously. You will be missed.

2. au contraire!

3. Actually, I have it on good authority that Mr. Mirengoff is giving up blogging entirely -- apparently his nose has grown so long that his fingers can no longer reach the keyboard.

4. Best of luck to you Paul.

5. The PL'ers retreat back to a place where they can control the commentary with puritanical zeal. Don't be fooled by the invitation to the forum, you will be banished the moment you disagree with their ideology.
Oh well, we got a few digs in while we could.
As a send off, I post the famous quote from John Hinderaker:
"It must be very strange to be President Bush. A man of extraordinary vision and brilliance approaching to genius, he can't get anyone to notice. He is like a great painter or musician who is ahead of his time, and who unveils one masterpiece after another to a reception that, when not bored, is hostile."

6. Great quote, Webster! It's that sort of writing that inspired me to dub the PLers "Bush Bobbysoxers." AOL has done a real disservice to conservatives by having them represented by White House Press Spokesmen Hinderaker and Mirengoff and farm team fascist Dinesh D'Souza. Can't they find SOMEONE on the Right who isn't a Bush flak or a cross burner (and if they can't, what does that tell us about the state of the American Right)?

7. Richter, At least AOL gave them a chance to be viewed "in plain sight" away from their weasel lair.
Apparently they cannot handle the Fairness Doctrine of the open web.

8. I agree with several commenters above - they couldn't handle the criticism of a bi-partisan audience.

9. I'm going to miss PL's comments, like the ones above. They're so funny. Like P or J read your comments. I don't think they bothered. Even if they did I doubt the comments of 3 or 4 people would "scare" them - they're lawyers. They can take an argument. LOL Crazy!

10. Dang,
Mirengoff never posted about how Saddam had nothing to do with al Qaeda or 9/11 (contrary to what most Republicans seem to believe). He probably just forgot.

11. To #9:
No, John can't take negative criticism.
John Hinderaker in an email to someone who asked a simple question:
"" You dumb shit, he didn't get access using a fake name, he used his real name. You lefties' concern for White House security is really touching, but you know what, you stupid asshole, I think the Secret Service has it covered. Go crawl back into your hole, you stupid left-wing shithead. And don't bother us anymore. You have to have an IQ over 50 to correspond with us. You don't qualify, you stupid shit. ""

Translation: We're tired of getting our asses handed to us here so we're gonna take our toys and run home where we can feel safe and secure in the praise of our brain-dead, sycophantic readers. Wahhhhh!
Don't let the door hit you on the way out, wuss.
