Very rare that you hear such an honestly angry voice within the mainstream media. Olbermann is not happy with the direction that his country has gone in while under the Bush Administration (hear, hear) and he is not afraid to voice it. Just listen to this small segment from one of his latest Independence Day eve rant.
Olbermann is asking Bush and Cheney to resign. You can watch the full rant here. He kinda reminds of this fellow, from the 1976 film "Network."

61. Damian, you're making itg too easy to discredit your "facts". You write:
"[Fitzgerald] spent hundreds of millions to "get" a guy for not remembering correctly when he heard the name."
Hundreds of millions to convict Scooter?
According to NBC, the CIA/Leak investigation was done on the cheap:
"Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald's three-year CIA/Leak investigation has cost the tax-payer the least amount of any Justice Department probe by an Independent Counsel in history.
NBC News has learned, that since the start of Fitzgerald's investigation of the Valerie Plame leak, beginning in December 2003, the total cost to be reported to the GAO is about $1.5 million.
By contrast, the decade-long probe of former Clinton Housing Secretary Henry Cisneros by Independent Counsel David Barrett, cost about $23 million.
Fitzgerald's office has incurred only about $400 thousand in total expenses above the salary and benefits for the personnel working for him.
The Ken Starr investigation of Whitewater and Monica Lewinsky cost the tax-payer $64 million."
Damian, what did you say above? Ah, yes, here it is:
"Learn first, speak after"
When do you plan to start?

65. Phil,
Thank you for allowing those of us who "have had it" have our say. I don't think the Constitution ever intended the President's power to pardon/commute to include people whose pardon/commutation allows the President/Vice get away with a serious crime. Libby had to lie to obscure the trail that led to the Pres/Vice who outed a CIA agent (treason?). The agent's husband was simply asking why the administration (Cheney, Powell, Bush) was saying Niger was selling nuclear materials to Iraq when they knew very well (because the agent's husband had reported to Cheney the fact that it was not happening) that it was a falsehood. Wilson was exposing a HUGE lie and he had to be discredited. Making it look like his wife was a clerk and at the same time had the power to send her husband to Niger. Neocons cannot and do not want to connect the dots. I am so grateful to Keith Oberman for expressing to millions exactly what I am thinking and feeling. I really thought I was alone!

66. I ACCUSE YOU, MR. OLBERMAN, OF BEING JUST ANOTHER IN A LONG LINE OF LIBERALLY BIASED JOURNALIST'S WHO REPEATEDLY ABUSE THEIR POSITIONS AS A MEANS OF PROMOTING THE DISHONEST, ANTI-AMERICAN, ANTI-FAMILY, ANTI-GOD, TOTALLY TWISTED, RACIST, SEXIST LEFT-WING VIEW OF REALITY. WHERE ARE YOUR ACCUSATIONS AGAINST HILLARY CLINTON, BILL CLINTON, HARRY REID, NANCY PELOSI, EVAN BAYH, MADELEINE ALBRIGHT, HOWARD DEAN, JOE BIDEN, AND JON EDWARDS??? IF YOU WOULD LIKE, I CAN SEND YOU VIDEO/AUDIO CLIPS OF EACH OF THE AFOREMENTIONED EXPLAINING TO US THAT SADDAM HUSSEIN HAD CHEMICAL/BIOLOGICAL WEAPONS AND THAT IT WAS IMPERATIVE THAT THE UNITED STATES TAKE ACTION IMMEDIATELY TO ENSURE THAT HUSSEIN DID NOT ACQUIRE NUCLEAR WEAPONS! BILL CLINTON REPEATEDLY EXPLAINED THIS FACT TO US ALL AS A MEANS OF EXPLAINING WHY HE HAD AUTHORIZED AIRSTRIKES AGAINST THE DICTATOR. WAS CLINTON ALSO A LIAR? HAS IT NOT OCCURED TO ANY OF YOU AMERICA HATING MILKSOP'S THAT MONTHS OF ADVANCE WARNING WAS GIVEN TO SADDAM BEFORE THE INVASION THAT KNOCKED HIM OUT OF POWER? THAT THE BIO/CHEM WMD'S WERE ALL EITHER IN BULK FORM(IN 55GALLON DRUMS)OR IN THE FORM OF ARTILLARY SHELLS, MORTARS, AND MISSILES, ALL OF WHICH ARE VERY EASILY TRANSPORTED BY TRUCK AND MOVED BY HAND? THAT DRIVING A TRUCK FROM IRAQ TO SYRIA PRIOR TO THE INVASION WOULD HAVE BEEN ABOUT AS DIFFICULT AS IT WOULD BE TO DRIVE A U-HAUL FROM ILLINOIS TO INDIANA? I ACCUSE YOU, MR. OLBERMAN, OF IGNORING THE FACT THAT ALL PRESIDENTS ISSUE PARDONS, CLINTON IN FACT ISSUED PARDONS TO CONVICTED MONEYLAUNDERERS IN EXCHANGE FOR LARGE DONATIONS TO THE DNC. SCOOTER LIBBY IS JUST ANOTHER POLITICAL SCAPEGOAT BEING SET OUT ON THE ICE TO DIE IN THE NAME OF MORE BI-PARTISAN BACKSTABBING.
I ACCUSE BOTH OLBERMAN AND JEFF HOARD OF BEING DELUSIONAL IN THEIR EXPECTATIONS OF THE AMERICAN PUBLIC. WHEN IT COMES TIME TO VOTE IN '08, THE DEMOCRATS ARE GOING TO FIND THAT THE "HATE BUSH" TACTIC OF '06 ISN'T GOING TO BE ENOUGH. WAS I THE ONLY ONE PAYING ATTENTION LAST WEEK WHEN THE KENNEDY-KYL IMMIGRATION REFORM BILL BIT THE DUST BECAUSE OF MASSIVE GRASSROOTS CAMPAIGNING ON THE PART OF AVERAGE AMERICAN CITIZENS WHO CRIED OUT ALMOST AS IF IN ONE VOICE "N0!!!!!!!"? AMERICANS TOOK NOTICE, AND EXCEPTION, WHEN THE DEMOCRATIC LEADERS CHOSE TO COMPLETELY IGNORE THE OVERWHELMING WILL OF THE PEOPLE, ONLY TO BE DEFEATED BY THE EFFORTS OF REPUBLICANS IN THE SENATE. SEE YOU IN '08 FREAKSHOW SUPPORTERS!!!!!

67. Wow! You are smart. What a gaff on my part. I obviously meant hundres of thousands and this is all you got??? What about Armitage? What about Berger? What about Clinton lying to the grand jury and influencing innocent bystanders to lie on his behalf. Potentially ruining their lives was nothing for him compared to saving his own ass. No time for those guys, but that didn't seem to bother you. HMMMM. What did Libby do to deserve more time than Berger? He couldn't remember when he heard what he heard. Why aren't you calling for Armitage's head???? Why didn't those FACTS bother you? As for being a Republican appointee, I believe Kennedy and Souter were Republican appointees too. That is if I have my facts straight.
Damian at 3:42PM on Jul 5th 2007
68. The coming pardon and the current commutation of Libby's sentence is different than previous pardons and commutations. This one is to keep the Pres/Vice from being charged with treason. This is not about helping friends, relatives, suspected victims of the system, etc.

69. In response to Cecil, darling Cecil (46):
That was a fascinating read!
In response to k.s. (57) who writes: "Typical of the left-wing loonies on AOL."
Where do you right wing loonies hang?
"It is bad for Bush to pardon someone who should never have been charged or put on trial for not being the one to "out" a CIA agent who hasn't been under cover in many years."
First, your president said he would fire anyone in the White House who leaked the name of a CIA operative. Was Bush lying about that? Or didn't Scooter work in the White House?
And, second, YOU may think he shouldn't have been charged in the first place, but the federal prosecutor (a republican appointee) managed to get an indictment and have a trial before a federal judge (also a republican appointee) and jury who found him guilty.
News flash, k.s., the justice system trumps you!
"Though these Bush bashers don't care that Clinton gave a full pardon to Mark Rich, the biggest Tax Cheat the US has ever known..."
Actually, repeatedly in this blog people have granted that Clinton's pardons were despicable. Consider Clinton bashed.
Now, what have you got?
Some of you should go back and re-read some of the thoughtful comments made by posters who are informed and impassioned. You are repeating the comments made herein and you keep rehashing extraneous arguments.
Keith Olbermann's rage was kicked into high gear because of Scooter's pardon. Six years of an imperial and dangerous presidency and it all came spilling out of him.
What you see here is a forum of people who are of like mind. Your name-calling and invectives are useless. The rage against this republican machine is now unloosed. (Hail KO!)
And to those clueless few who respond to every criticism of Bush by first attacking Clinton: GET OVER HIM!
Of course, soon enough he will be back in the White House and this time HE will be servicing the President!

70. Note to Carlton
Interesting post. Impossible to read. We get it, you're responding in kind, but go easy on the CAPS. Difficult to read.
Oh, and by the way, take your meds.

71. NOTE TO LIZ,
AS OPPOSED TO DEBATING MY FACTUAL COMMENTS......YOU ARE FORCED TO RESORT TO DEMONIZATION. HMMMMMM? WHERE HAVE I SEEN THAT TACTIC USED BEFORE? OH, THAT'S RIGHT, BY ALL OF YOU PAID LIBERAL SPAMMERS.
P.S.
I PREFER THE CAPS, AS IT MAKES IT EASIER FOR THE ILLITERATE DEMOCRAT CONSTITUENCY TO READ.

72. "Wow! You are smart. What a gaff on my part. I obviously meant hundres of thousands and this is all you got???"
Damian, still wrong. A closer read would indicate $1.5 million before the trial.
Being precise helps with cred.
And then you continue,
"What about Armitage? What about Berger? What about Clinton lying to the grand jury and influencing innocent bystanders to lie on his behalf. Potentially ruining their lives was nothing for him compared to saving his own ass. No time for those guys, but that didn't seem to bother you."
Well, actually, correct on some counts here. It all does bother me. A great deal, in fact. But what bothers me more is the lying sacks of poop in the White House, aka Bush and his Demon Ventriloquist.
They're in power now. They are the ones who used tactics of fear and terror to gather support for their invasion and war in Iraq.
They're the ones who have sent 3500 American military to their deaths in their vanity war.
They're the ones who simple-minded saps like you honor for their decisiveness and character.
As long as you keep bringing up the past, doesn't the fact that W was a no-show pilot in the National Guard during the Vietnam War bother YOU?
How about the fact that he was a coke-head? A Jack-Daniels-swilling drunk at age 40 and president 15 years later?
Or does that not matter to you war mongers who think this president is such a stellar decider?
Liz at 4:06PM on Jul 5th 2007
73. Carlthejarl...
You have suckled a wee bit too much at the teat of Ann Coulter.
I only wish AOL did pay me for my time. I happen to be be recovering from a surgical procedure and found this diverting for a few days. Soon back to my job. I promise you, it's not being a blog flak.
Keep the caps. You'd probably like it if I ignored you anyway.
Liz at 4:10PM on Jul 5th 2007
74. Oh, and Damian, a few hundred thousand dollars, a few million for an investigation and trial. This bothers you? Bothers me too.
So what do you think about squandering a $.5 trillion budget surplus and spending an unbudgeted $.5 trillion on an obscene war that was planned before 9/11 and sold to the American public on the basis of fear of terror?
Well, it bothers me more than Scooter and this petty discussion about his sentence commutation.
To quote the sage: "Learn first, speak after"
Liz at 4:21PM on Jul 5th 2007
75. AGAIN LIZ...I WILL POINT OUT THE FACT, AND IT IS A FACT,(UNLIKE THE COMMENT WHICH YOU LEFT STATING THAT BUSH IS A COKEHEAD,ETC.ETC...not facts)THAT YOU AVOID DEBATING THE PRINCIPLES OF MY ARGUMENT IN FAVOR OF DEMONIZING ME WITH YOUR SUGGESTION THAT I "TAKE MY MEDS". I SHOULD BE GLAD THAT I HAVE ESCAPED SOME OF THE MORE CHILDISH NAME-CALLING(ALSO A FAMILIAR LIBERAL TACTIC) THAT YOU HAVE ENGAGED IN WHILE COMMENTING ON THIS TOPIC TODAY.
IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE VIDEO CLIPS THAT I REFERRED TO EARLIER(you know, the one's in which the Democratic All-Stars state that a serious threat was posed by Saddam and his WMD's)THEY CAN BE SEEN AT; www.bercasio.com/movies/dems-wmd-before-iraq
