Mitt Romney Used to Make a Living From Porn
The title of this post might seem a little misleading, but it's not really. He literally made money from porn. You can read about it here. For the record, I don't care at all. But as usual with Republicans, it's the hypocrisy that drives people crazy. Romney calls pornography a "cesspool" then turns around and takes it to the bank.

16. This whole story is kind of reaching and creating something out of nothing. This is along the lines of accusing someone of being a Nazi sympathizer because they might have bought a Kodak product. After all, didn't Kodak do business with Germany during World War II?
Dirt isn't always "dirt". Sometimes it's horse****.

17. Looks like young turkeys are grasping at the straws.
Maybe Romney should have kept an eye on what was going on in rooms of the hotels he ran. How stupid.

18. see...this is what can backfire on a right-wing nut. don't go preaching to others when you have not checked in your closet. don't preach to others about porn if you are taking the profits to the bank. just say "I believe" or "what I know", instead of "you can" or "you cannot" to others. i understand a person has to make a living, but condemning porn out loud, at the same time profitting makes a person wonders.....mmm!!!

19. Come on and be serious. You guys go to great lengths to find something wrong with Mitt. This is a free country?? Think of the fit you would have had if people in a hotel were denied their right to view porno material. Marriott nor Romney personally believe porno is anything but evil but in business you do not deny people of freedom to watch what they want in privacy of their hotel room. Obviously, Mitt is a better person than the other candiates or you would not have to stretch to find something to smear him with in the media.

20. The point is that Mr. Rommey shares executive control with other members of the board of directors. They CAN decide to prohibit showing of pornography in Marriot hotels. But, 500 billion dollars a year, evidently, is hard to refuse
Of course, one can argue that the issue is about free and widely accessible (to all ages) pornography online.
I'm sure the Board of Directors would find free and widely accessible pornography online a moral evil and not to be permitted in Marriot hotels. However, I'm sure they would be conductive to online porno if brings in 500 billion a year.

21. That's nothing. What was Bill Clinton's slogan for his 96 campain? "Family values"! Gimme a break.

22. If that's the best you can come up with, Mitt's in pretty good shape!

23. The POINT is, he certainly didn't make any active moves as a board member of Marriott, to "stop the sin and madness" of porn on hotel room tv screens. Why is that? BECAUSE OF THE MONEY it was bringing to him and others in the the industry.
But NOW, he wants us to believe he thinks Porn is a terrible thing. So terrible that he moved, while as a board member, to take that sin away and remove it as a selection on Marriott's television sets? Wellllll....
No. Not THAT sinful and terrible apparently. But its pretty darn awful when others are making money off of it!
And I just know you are going to ask me how I know whether or not he brought it up in board meetings at Marriott. I was hoping you would. If he HAD, he'd be using that in his campaign. Instead, he's hoping we just won't notice.
And for all of you with the analogies that aren't at all analogous, like, if I get gas or work at a service station that sells girlie magazines does that mean I'm like Mitt Romney? Let's look at how ludicrous your analogies are. A GAS station makes MOST of its money off of gas and then sodas and candy and BEER. Only a small amount off of porn. Whereas for Marriott, porn is a literal cash cow that makes up a good bit of a percentage of its profit. So if you were filling your tank up with half gas and half playboys, you might half a useful analogy. But you aren't. So shut up. You morons.

24. You know what? You can't complain about Republican tactics and then act just like them, and that is a republican thing to do, to smash up his character by twisting the truth so that it sounds as nasty as possible. This man has a lot of faults that make me want him as far from the white house as possible, but it would have been extremely wrong of him to take porn off the offerings at the hotel just because of his personal beliefs. I know you believe that too, so don't condemn him for that. He's got plenty of other problems.

25. This is the type of juvenile construct which kept Air America from profit. They only function on Soros credit dabbling to find traction even in their own imagination. Like drilling oil wells...but they keep getting dry holes. With such shallow capabilities, to only drill 10 feet in depth, no wonder. More holes wont make a difference, coming up with the same old dirt no matter how new their machinery.
This is barely bar-hop's grist..give him another one.

26. So I own a restaurant, should I not sell food to bulimic's? That is ridiculous. Hotels only offer what the public demands, to say that he made money from porn, by way of the fact that he was involved in the hotel industry is proposterous! Get a life folks. You must be really reaching if this is the best trash talk you can come up with.

27. If he HAD made a move to get the porn removed from rooms, he likely would have been voted off the board. Really, he would sabotage his career like that? Obviously not. His whole career was based around making companies MORE profitable. He made the 2002 olympics VERY profitable... the most (only?) profitable olympics in the entire history of the games. Making objective business decisions has nothing to do with personal opinion. He can tout his personal opinion all he wants - it's completely separate from the control of a company that he SHARES with other board members - a control that could have been taken away from him if the other board members didn't like what he was trying to do.
Remember that he worked to make companies PROFITABLE. That was his whole game. If allowing porn in hotel rooms made the hotel more profitable, and it was within current US law, he would do it. That's his job description, that is what was expected of him. It has nothing to do with his personal or political opinion - it's business, capitalism. Part of what makes this country the ONLY true superpower in the world. Some of you people need a reality check - especially the idiots that posted this blog in hopes people who read it wouldn't do any critical thinking on it - much like the rest of the liberal shit-flinging bloggers who are making a big deal out of it all over the internet.
He hums and haws about it now because he has to live up to the ridiculous religious and moral standards of many Republican constituents who don't understand what a business decision is. I've never been more glad to be an independent conservative. I don't want to be lumped in with those retards.
And like someone else said - if this is the worst you can find on Romney, it just goes to show what an upstanding and professional person he is. We need someone in office who will do what needs to be done to improve things - especially the federal coinpurse - regardless of his personal opinion. If softcore porn (which is what is shown at Marriott) available on all government television sets in all government buildings will improve the financial state of this country, then I'm all for it. It's up to the individual person to choose to watch it - which is their right under current laws, and it should stay that way.

28. Cenk Uygur...great name..send this possible goat herder back to where he came from.
Oh wait, this is from Air America...Yeah they are really credible.I'm surprised they don't sell America with a k!
Very liberal dose of total stupidity here!

29. This is so dumb and YES, your title is very misleading.
A lot of the Marriott properties are franchises and not all of them offer their guest the option to purchase soft porn. Franchises do have contractual contraints, but I think this is one area where the Franchisee has some descretion here. If they do offer adult movies, their choices are limited to soft porn. Could Romney ban this? NO! He was one guy who sat on the board of directors and it's a majority vote for any changes. You guys are retarded and obviously no nothing about business.
There is worse on regular TV and who dominates the entertainment industry...the LEFT! Liberals define the word hypocrisy.
