Mitt Romney Used to Make a Living From Porn
The title of this post might seem a little misleading, but it's not really. He literally made money from porn. You can read about it here. For the record, I don't care at all. But as usual with Republicans, it's the hypocrisy that drives people crazy. Romney calls pornography a "cesspool" then turns around and takes it to the bank.

31. First I would like to say that porn is great, But more importantly whats with the name "the Young Turks", I have nothing against Turkish people or young Turkish people for that matter but "The Young Turks" were one of the most oppressive government regimes ever and were responsible for some of the biggest genocides in history, the armenian, pontic greek, and syrian christians who were slaughtered. Might as well call yourselves the Third Reich.

32. I recall a news story about a Mormon that opened or ran a Casino in Nevada and donated considerable funds to the Mormon Church, however, Mormons were forbid to marry in the Mormon Church if they worked in a casino serving alchohol. It appeared to be a double standard. Money seems to dictate moral standards in some religions!

33. I rather vote for someone in a business that is connected to Porn than belong to the same party as a President that stars in Porn on a daily basis. Leave the Republicans alone and get a life.

34. In response to Ronnie Dean Holman: The Mormon church has never accepted tithes off of money earned by casinos owned by Mormons, nor does it expect or want any tithes off money earned by any company. It does expect tithes from earnings of people that OWN or RUN the companies if they are Mormon - tithe paying is a principle doctrine of the church and almost every member pays tithes religiously, if you'll excuse the pun. Even Mitt Romney. The church does not accept donations from companies whose primary business involves avarice or vices in general... they never have. And no, Mormons have never been forbidden to marry on any grounds involving working at a casino. In fact no religious restrictions have been placed on any mormon involved with casinos - even owning - to this day. Gambling isn't necessarily considered sinful by mormons, though it can potentially become so and is generally looked down on as "excessive" and "unnecessary", which is why the church chooses to not accept money earned from it, not even from John D. Smith's weekend gambling winnings. Mormons are only barred from say, the Mormon temples, if they are DIRECTLY involved with something that they consider especially "sinful", like the actual PRODUCTION of hardcore pornography, i.e. it's a problem completely within their control and influence (of which Mitt Romney had none over whether or not Marriott hotels showed softcore porn).
I grew up in the Mormon church before leaving after I developed a strong anti-organized-religion stance. I know what I'm talking about, I even still live in Utah in fact and deal with mormons and read about the goings on of the mormon church on a very regular basis since they are headquartered near where I live and all - I probably know more about Mormon history and their doctrine now than I knew while I was a Mormon (so it goes with any religious apostate like me I suppose).
Double-check your facts before running your mouth off about something you aren't necessarily familiar with - or you'll end up like The Young Turks here. And remember that a "news article" isn't always a credible source.

35. Again, the point is ROmney is a powerful guy on the board of the hotel chain. He and others can stop it in from being shown in a minute. If Romney truly believes porn is "evil" walk the walk.
Cenk's point is it is Republicans who get on the pure and moral high horse and play the religon card until they are blue in the face.
Romney is now courting favor with the Pat Robertson crowd...as ususal it as "do as i say not as I do.."
Funny, seems to me when he was the governor of Massachusetts, he was far more moderate, supporting abortion rights and gay rights. This guy is an empty suit...

37. All of the sudden you hear things like: "Wow you are really reaching..." or "grasping at straws.." "digging deep aren't you...?" I love it... the conservatives who only want to know when it pertains to Clinton. In fact I'm surprise his name didn't already pop-up... Boy you conservatives are not on the ball...
The fact is, who the hell cares what he did??? What stinks now, is that he is a.... What's that phrase conservatives love to use...????? Oh..oh..yeah, now he's flip floping. Now he is Mr. Morality.
WHATEVER!!
Hey did you hear about that other Republican who had to admit his name was in that Madams little black book???? I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!

38. You would think the "AMERICA" Online news blogs would cater more to what the citizens of America really think and feel. So much of this leftist propaganda is embedded into this site. If this is what you think Americans really want to read, maybe you didn't get the memo that we voted for a Republican president the last two elections, and will do so again in 2008.
Who cares how the guy made his money. This is America, making money is what we do here. I don't think we should be sorry for it; we should embrace it.

39. Why stop at the sin of supporting porn? Should he not have insisted that every couple that signs in show their marriage license? Also, he should have outlawed smoking and coffee from his hotels, both against the teachings of the Mormon church. He should have made sure that no bad language was ever used, and any employee who swore should be fired on a first offense. Alcohol should not be allowed in the restaurants. Reading in the Book of Mormon and nightly prayers should be required of each guest before they turn off the light. R-rated movies should not be allowed. Each room should have a picture of Jesus in it. Oh, and no tattoes or piercings for men, only one piercing in each ear for women. To allow otherwise would certainly make him a hypocrite! lol

41. Romney made money owning a hotel and renting rooms out to people. I can see the scandal there. One man is being fried by some hard-line conservitives over a decision made by a group... and by some people he probably never met.
If this makes Romney a hypocrite what does it make the Young Turks who seem to revel in misleading titles and the bashing of anyone who doesn't "yes ma'am" them.

43.
Left wingers like these two talk show hosts should know all about hypocrisy since left wing liberals holler at the top off their voice that they are pro choice on abortion, but when it comes to about all other rights and freedoms liberals want to take them away. Liberals want to take away second amendment rights, they want to take away first amendment rights from people that they disagree with like mike savage, they want to ban tobacco, its even getting so bad that liberals want to ban food. I am pro choice on abortion but unlike these liberal freedom hating control freaks abortion is not the only thing that I am pro choice on.

44. Romney is king of the flip-flops. He wants to pass himself off as the super moral uber-conservative, but it's all conflicting with his background. If he really is offended by pornography, he could have stepped down from the Marriott board. But that would mean giving up money, and like all good Pols, is perfectly OK with skipping his lipservice to morality where a buck can be had. Same with his venture capital millions, made by flipping companies and putting 1000's of workers on the dole. He's a two-faced slicko and we are in for REAL trouble if he ascends to the oval office.

45. So do you idiots just pull topics out of your behinds then ramble on about them? If you want to talk about the downfall of our country, its not just going to be because of the corrupt politicians, its going to be because we have idiots for citizens like you. I'd like to think that our Republic will last for another 218 years (and before all you morons out there argue with my math, I'm going from the ratification of the Bill of Rights and Constitution in 1789) but I give it maybe another 10 years with idiots like the Young Turks holding sway (or attempting to) over public opinion. So what's tomorrow's asinine topic? Bush really blew up the Twin Towers on 9/11? Get a life.
