Rant of the Day: The Vitters Should Apologize to the Clintons
David Vitter -- before he got caught having an affair with a prostitute -- said that Bill Clinton was "morally unfit to govern." Does the conservative, Republican Senator from Louisiana now feel the same way about his own adultery (and many years of subsequent cover-ups)? Or would he like to apologize to Bill Clinton for what he said?
He also said that President Clinton should resign because of the "mess" he's created. Does he feel the same way about his own mess?
I think anyone in the state of Louisiana would be crazy to vote for a gigantic hypocrite like Senator Vitter, unless he admits that he has changed his ways and now understands that people's private lives are their own business and that he should have never commented on Bill Clinton's sexual relationships or his cover up of it, since was guilty of the same thing at the same time. We're waiting.
Senator Vitter's wife also felt quite self-proud at the time of the Clinton affair. She said back then, "I'm a lot more like Lorena Bobbitt than Hillary [Clinton]. If he does something like that, I'm walking away with one thing, and it's not alimony, trust me."
Trust me? Interesting. Is Mrs. Vitter planning any staff cuts around the senator's office?
No, it looks like she forgave him after all the tough talk. It looks like judging people is a little harder when the shoe is on the other foot. So, will Wendy Vitter be apologizing to Hillary Clinton for implying she was weak for not ending her marriage or cutting off her husband's genitalia? Which one is it, will Mrs. Vitter follow through on her tough talk or apologize to Senator Clinton for running off her mouth about the Clinton's private affairs? We're waiting.

16. You morons. Maybe Vitter had sex with a hooker, but he didn't do it in the Oval Office and he didn't lie about it under oath. Clinton was impeached (and disbarred) for perjury.
Jorge at 3:43PM on Jul 13th 2007
17. Philip, I really understand what you are trying to say here, and frankly you are right to think this way. However, most people by now are so damn sick and tired of everything that was said and done to and about Bill Clinton (I know Clinton was very wrong to lie under oath), but take at look at who was accusing him of his wrong doings??? Now, for that past 6 1/2 years look at what we as a nation have had to put up with??? How can you blame ordinary people from jumping all over republicans??? Not all democrats are bad and neither are all republicans, just as not all democrats are good, neither ar all the republicans. The differance is that most political figures on the right start talking about morality and family values, and christianity...blah...blah...blah. But, then one by one alot of these guys are getting busted, from cheating on their wives to recieving brives, going to jail... the list goes on!!!!! So... when you live in a glass house....??????

18. Come on, Clinton bashers, get over it. Yes, what he did was wrong. No, it didn't deserve impeachment. It's amazing that so many Republicans that lambasted Clinton at the time: Vitter, Gingrich, Livingston, Barr, that ditzy Congresswoman from Idaho (I forget her name), a few right-wing preachers etc. were guilty of the same thing or worse. And that comes from the "family values" crowd. What a bunch of hypocrites. Clinton was no saint, but compared to the dumbass, arrogant President we're stuck with now, I'd gladly take Clinton back, Monica and all.

19. When Ann Richards decided to run for governor of Texas she knew she had some bones in her closet, so she opened her closet and showed Texas her bones. She didn't come off as some pious perfect person, she came off as a human with weaknesses and strengths. Maybe that is why I loved her so much.
It wasn't Clintons sexual indiscretions that turned me off, like it was he stood in front of America and lied about it. Just like he lied about not inhaling.
Now this Vitter guy, had he not been caught with his hand in the cookie jar he would have never come clean. At least he didn't act all innocent and have "it" explained to him.
The last politician I voted "for" told me I can't promise you anything except I will listen to the citizens and try to do what is best for the whole.
I honestly think what America is looking for is someone who is honest and will listen to "we the people".
Mackie at 10:17PM on Jul 12th 2007
20. Mackie I have never lived in Texas (thank G*D) but I must agree with you, Ann Richards was an amazing woman, with beauty, brains, class, and what a lot of men are missing these days!!! And yes Clinton lied and he did it under oath, but as some one else said on this blog.."I would gladly take him back"" HERE...HERE...!!! So would I, in a New York minute. Look what we have now in the white house, the same idiot that beat Ann Richards, MY G*d can someone explain that to me??? This man we have now, lies about everything even the stuff he knows nothing about, which is most of it. Now because of him we have almost 4000 troops dead.
I agree with you when you say we need someone that will listen to "we the people". Cause we sure don't have it now!!!

21. Are you foolish enough to believe that things in politics don't happen for a reason? Would you believe that Hustler Magazine is interested in doing something good to clean up politics or muddle it even more? In a muddled political field, Hustler's Larry Flynt becomes a king or queen maker. Instead of proving yourself to the voters, you've got to kiss the ring or the butt of the man that can bring you down. This is like Al Sharpton trying to exclusively control "The N-word" but worse. Larry Flynt is peaking into your bedroom and free speech is unrestricted in your home. Should the Vitters apologize to Bill Clinton-no way! We don't know what Clinton's affair was used to cover-up. Everybody was having sex, but only Clinton was slick enough to hide his dirt with more dirt. Bill Clinton could get away with mass murder and get paid selling the medication to clean it up. This sex argument is designed to help "Billary." When the cats gone astray, who's played with her mouse? We aren't talking about Mother Theresa here. We've never investigated a woman's dirt. If it's a Clinton, there is dirt.

22. Vitter, and there will be a lot more, maybe Bill Clinton himself is on that list, imagine the money going to be used to silence someone. they are all guilty, so many it would be hard to sort them out. What dem hired Flynt to uncover only the Republicans??????????????????????????/

Hmmmm...really? Everyone KNEW Vitter was committing these acts and no one said BOO? You either have the laziest reporters in the nation, or Louisiana is a much less conservative state than I remember.
Yeah, I guess this is a good time to be a leftie, at least gloating is one of the least objectional things you guys do.
Can you explain to me how the recent S. Court decision can be described as "racist" when the very policy it overturned was racist to its core? NEWSFLASH: We won, the civil rights movement scored a smashing victory by at least 1986 if not earlier. It is long past due to commence with the dismantling of the civil rights era legislation that (temporarily, but for good reason) discriminated against whites. Again, WE WON!! Now move on.
Galling as it is to think about, I think an apology might be in order. (Good God!! I can just see that tight little H. Clinton smile...it makes my skin crawl, make it go away!!)

24. Chairman Meow....purrrrrrrrrrrrrfect post!
I shall copy, paste and print out that cogent. yet spit-takingly hilarious post and make it into a little booklet (w/red cover) and carry it with me all my days so that whenever I run into someone like poster 6 I can brandish it with a flourish, turn to the exact point v. counterpoint and with the utmost confidence deliver my response in the form of a quotation from Chairman Meow.
Made my day.

25. if there's a contest for Most Hypocritical than it must be awarded to the Newt, worming his way into power and casting aspersions on mr clinton while he was conducting one of his numerous affairs. I think he apologized to god, though.

28. Of course Larry Flynt is interested in making money, where is the surprise there?? He himself will be the first one to tell you so. In fact he did. He said he would pay one million dollars for the names in that book or each of the names in that book. And make no mistake about it, I am sure he would love to find not one, not two, not three but the more republican names the better as far as he's concerned. He doesn't need any Dem. to pay him for this. He is getting a lot of pleasure out of it. He has no morals, however, unlike the right wing hypocrites he doesn't lie about it.
Absolutely this Vitter guy and his dumb wife owe the clinton's an apology. Gingrich, Delay, Levingston and so many, many more need to stand in line. Oh... Cecil Jones there sure is plenty of dirt, once you can clear it out of your eyes look around and see what the republican party is doing to this nation and look at all the dirt they are throwing in our faces. I know not all memembers of the republican party are dirt bags, but boy they sure have a lot of them, and they all seem to be getting caught doing something or other wrong. I tell you that Karma sure is a bitch.
And David.... it's not about gloating, that would be very childish. It's about seeing things the way they are and not shuting up about it. Boy oh boy when the tables are turned, not fun. GOP can sure dish it out, masters at it really. None better!! But, when the tide turns.... I say again, when people live in glass houses.
Peace!

29. no one owes the clintons anything. if you want hypocrits look no further than barney franks, william jeffries or other lefties who were rewarded for their immoral behavior with better committee positions and longer congressional careers. only republicans resign when they do something "immoral". the left has no such word in their vocabulary -- consequently there is nothing too immoral for their liking including committing murder, being a recruiter for the klan, being a traitor by providing our adversaries with propaganda about our troops, commiting purjury and obstruction of justice -- there is NOTHING the gop can do that even approaches the immorality of the left so the best the left should do is shut up.
clay at 1:47AM on Jul 13th 2007
30. Let's see...over the years, we've had Ted Haggard, Jimmy Swaggart, Jim Bakker, Rev. Crouch, now moralizing Senator Vitters. Good Conservative Republicans all.
And Bill Clinton was called "immoral".
BTW, the most dalliances in the White House award goes to...Warren G. Harding. White house staff made a game of finding out which rooms he played with numerous staff besides Nan Britton (who wrote a tell-all book about it). With each room they discovered, they made an "x" in the appropriate section of the White House floor plan. Before Harding was ousted, the entire plan was filled with Xs - including the closets! Everyone thought that Florence Harding poisoned her husband (not true), but also felt that she was entitled to do it to such a louse.
