Rant of the Day: The Vitters Should Apologize to the Clintons
David Vitter -- before he got caught having an affair with a prostitute -- said that Bill Clinton was "morally unfit to govern." Does the conservative, Republican Senator from Louisiana now feel the same way about his own adultery (and many years of subsequent cover-ups)? Or would he like to apologize to Bill Clinton for what he said?
He also said that President Clinton should resign because of the "mess" he's created. Does he feel the same way about his own mess?
I think anyone in the state of Louisiana would be crazy to vote for a gigantic hypocrite like Senator Vitter, unless he admits that he has changed his ways and now understands that people's private lives are their own business and that he should have never commented on Bill Clinton's sexual relationships or his cover up of it, since was guilty of the same thing at the same time. We're waiting.
Senator Vitter's wife also felt quite self-proud at the time of the Clinton affair. She said back then, "I'm a lot more like Lorena Bobbitt than Hillary [Clinton]. If he does something like that, I'm walking away with one thing, and it's not alimony, trust me."
Trust me? Interesting. Is Mrs. Vitter planning any staff cuts around the senator's office?
No, it looks like she forgave him after all the tough talk. It looks like judging people is a little harder when the shoe is on the other foot. So, will Wendy Vitter be apologizing to Hillary Clinton for implying she was weak for not ending her marriage or cutting off her husband's genitalia? Which one is it, will Mrs. Vitter follow through on her tough talk or apologize to Senator Clinton for running off her mouth about the Clinton's private affairs? We're waiting.

31. Yes, I was very moved by Bill Clinton's apology for getting a honk job by Monica Lewinsky in the Oval office. I was particularly moved by his genuine contrition expressed to Paul Jones, Kathleen Wylie and to the nation at large. Vitter's should follow suit.

32. I am actually sorry to use the word rapist or gave the impression that he was accused in a court of law. I know he was never taken to court for that alleged action. I (and you too I bet)do know that at least one woman did accuse him of rape but never went forward to court. That does not mean he did it or didn't do it. I was robbed by gun point and even tho I never pressed charges it doesn't take away the action against me. I do have Clinton's own words to make a judgement. He stated over and over he did not do anything wrong. He said it because the truth (scary word for the young turks) would bolster Paula Jone's case. I'm not perfect and I am sorry about what I wrote, but you and the turks should be sorry about how Paula Jones got treated by the Clinton team. Shame on Clinton's people. p.s. check the timing of the bombing run and form your own conclusions. Yes Vitter didn't pardon anyone and maybe he would of but b.c. had his nerve to talk about Bush's actions. Can't we just get along.

33. Here we have another example of the Democrats sticking to the lie that Bill Clinton's scandals were "just about sex." Bill Clinton forced young female subordinates to have sex with him, he lied about it while under oath, suborned perjury from others, and lied about it to the American people more than once - and those are the crimes committed and lies told by Clinton during just that one incident. Vitter paid a professional to willingly have sex with him and admitted to what he did when confronted. Democrats realize the difference between the two scenarios but are sticking to their usual tactic of hypocrisy, dishonesty and rewriting history. Bill Clinton was the most immoral, dishonest and corrupt POTUS in US history and Hillary was right there happily wallowing in all of his criminal activity.

34. Robert Byngham - thank you for proving once again what it takes to be a Right Wing mentally challenged sheep.
BILL CLINTON WAS THE WORST PRESIDENT EVER! - Yes, because he lied to the country about stealing elections, defrauding American people, or forwarding an unpopular war despite repeated attempts to bring troops home. While I'm speaking of Richard M. Nixon, the most recent president who resigned the position due to legal troubles, they also seem pretty applicable to George W. Bush.
There are important differences:
- Nixon did not start the Vietnam war under false pretenses because there was oil there.
- Nixon did not identify an axis of evil, who had ties to terrorism, and attack this axis instead of apprehending the person that was to be caught "dead or alive" when months later he was "no longer on my mind"
- Nixon did not use the SCotUS and familial ties to bring about a quick end in his favor to a tight election.
- Nixon was not a self proclaimed "Uniter" that has divided this country more than any other time in my lifetime.
- Nixon's cabinet did not disseminate and provide to an international governing body (UNGA)
- Nixon attempted negotiations with China, to that point one of our enemies, and did not decide invading Cuba to prove a point to Russia was a prudent idea (though that was another president's botched call)
- Nixon did not oversee the complete destruction of one of America's oldest and most renown cities.
- Nixon was not on call during the worst foriegn attack on US soil since 1941. (Bill Clinton was NOT IN OFFICE when 9/11 hit, just in case you and your retarded freeper friends thought otherwise)
- Nixon was not responsible for providing chairmanships to people of at best mediocre capabilities and at worst blatant biases against their positions.
- Nixon did not offer no-bid contracts to a company that his vice president held chairmanship in.
- Nixon did not order wiretapping beyond a hotel room with Democratic Candidate information, forcing the phone companies to turn over records for tens of millions of Americans in the guise of "security"
- Finally, Richard M. Nixon had the wherewithal to do what was best for the nation by resigning amidst the second lowest polls ever recorded. The lowest? GWB - and impeachment is off the table.
For all that he's done that's worse than Nixon, at least some politicians in the 70's had some basic idea of morality. Today's Democrats and Republicans are only in it for power for themselves and their corporate controllers.
Doesn't that make you proud of what your country has become while you've cheerled a braindead college and business failure as the champion of the church of America, instead of remaining vigilant of those threats from within?

35. Mr. Vitter wasn't getting a blow-job in the Oval Office, then lie about it. Apparently, the turks can't make that distinction? How sad.

36. Did Vitter and/or Clinton suborn perjury?
Did Vitter and/or Clinton obstruct justice?
Did Vitter and/or Clinton commit perjury?
Vitter is an adulterer. Clinton is worse.

37. Guilty religious guy sex is the best. Yummy.
davi at 7:33AM on Jul 13th 2007
38. It is time to realize that the religious, political, and national labels we give ourselves cannot betray the fact that we are a complex organism, with simple needs. Personality types that are prone to the political arena are also prone to greater egotistical satiating. It is no surprise when a "successful" or "strong" person takes little care in getting pleasure, it would be more surprising if they did not. The problem is that this type of person has little in the way of concience regarding other forms of deceit (theft, cheating, etc...) that expose our tax dollars to "less than honorable" use. Conclusion: do what you want with your penis, but leave my meager income out of the equation.

42. Why do the Clintons deserve an apology? At least this guy apologized after being caught. I remember Bill pointing his finger at America and telling us he never had sex with that woman. He lied and he did not resign after doing so. The Clintons are nothing but elitest trash. They should apologize to the nation for 8 years of criminal activity in the White House.
RDelSardo at 8:08AM on Jul 13th 2007
43. Adam, Nixon may not have been Mr. Personality, and he may have been caught spying on the democrats, but in my opinion, he had one very important thing the republicans of today are lacking in, he had a great love for America. The democrats could also use a big dose of love for the people and the country.
I wonder if anyone has any idea the strength it took to admit he was wrong and resign. He resigned for us the people, just like he brought our boys home, for us.
Even in dishonor Nixon had honor, something lacking today. We have, on both sides, a bunch of sociopaths in elected office. Today, right now, of all the people running for office, I would gladly select Richard Nixon over any of them.

45. For the Clinton-basher who implies that Vitter is holier than Clinton because Vitter never broke "the law over and over," last I checked prostitution was a crime in just about every state. Unless the disgraced Senator was paying for hookers in Nevada -- by his own admission -- he has committed repeated crimes apart from normal garden variety adultery. And not for nothing, but parrotting the substanceless allegation that Clinton abused US military power to coverup his marital pecadillioes is about as intellectually dishonest as it comes. Perhaps its a tacit admission that the Bush Department of Justice is incompetent (which it is), because if there was any basis for that attack -- don't you think that the hard right Bush Administration would bring Clinton up on charges?
