Lindsay Lohan: "I can't get in trouble. I'm a celebrity."
Here's the money quote from Lindsay Lohan during her night of drunken partying and driving:
"I can't get in trouble. I'm a celebrity. I can do whatever the f**k I want."
Wow, doesn't that describe this whole celebrity culture we live in? Every time I see something like this, I think of that great Bill Murray line from Kingpin. He wins a million dollars in a bowling tournament and he says something to the effect of, "I'm rich. I'm above the law now!"
Sad, but true. You can get the full Lindsay Lohan story here.

1. Of course they think they can get away with anything, all they get is slaps on the wrist. So unfair! Lindsay will probably end up killing someone someday on one of her drunken, drug induced driving sprees. The punishment she needs is to be ignored for a few years, maybe for about 50 yrs.

2. Dispacher is an idiot and should be fired! The lady told him over and over where she was, she was obviously driving so her location would change. She was scared, as anyone would be, that's why she dialed 911. Why is everyone so bent out of shape about the women expressing fear? You don't call 911 in the wee hours of the morning to have a nice, calm chat!

6. It sickens me to hear how some of the young people in the entertainment industry and other wealthy individuals have become so self destructive and irresponsible. In addition, this new mentality that they are less accountable for their actions than the rest of us is being perpetuated by judges and others who refuse to see these law-breaking individuals as people who DO MAKE CHOICES and affect not only themselves but the people around them.
There is a quote I once heard; it says,"To he/she who much is given, much is expected." With all of the advantages these young people have, they fail to recognize how blessed they are in this life. I, as many other individuals in the universe, have been through traumatic life experiences. Using these experiences as excuses to poison one's self with drugs and alchohol and disregard the law is unacceptable. These young people clearly know what they are doing. They need to learn (maybe the hard way) that there are real consequences for their actions beyond the lenient sentences of the judges who seem to have the view that these young ladies and gentlemen are the "poor, rich, privileged, little things with all dollars and no common sense." There will only be more accountability if someone has the brains and the courage to say, Enough is enough!" Real sentences need to be given to those with money and status, just as it would be for those without money and status. The mentality and perpetuation of the belief that "some people" are above the law simply because they have money needs to end. My hope is that the judges who see and hear these cases will start making stern judgments for these privileged individuals, which require each person to make real changes in behavior and serve the same sentences the rest of the less privileged would have to serve.
While I do not think Miss Lohan should be the poster child or the only test case for this equal consequence sentence; I do believe it is a good place to start. Consistent sentencing is what will make a difference. For example, if two students committed the same infraction, and the principal of the school handed out two different sentences for them, what kind of respect for the code of discipline or the principal would there be? The rich kid received detention, and the poor kid received suspension. How is that equal or fair in judgment?
Furthermore, it would be more difficult for these young people to resort to drinking and drugs if they were not given access to these things because they are "stars" or "rich". The bars and restaurants serving alchohol to young people who are underage should lose their permits to serve alchohol all together. The wealthy teens, whether they are in the entertainment industry or not, are being catered to with no concern for their ages or welfare; it is the almighty buck that these businesses are worried about. Think how much easier it would be for people like Miss Lohan to avoid alchohol if people simply refused to serve her or other underage individuals.
I believe that Miss Lohan is now 21 (correct me if I am wrong). With this being said, this young "adult" needs to accept the consequences for her actions. I am tired of hearing about her sad life experiences. We all go through STUFF, which can knock us on our butts. She has the money, opportunity, and ability to get treatment and counseling. She has "chosen" to disregard these options because she feels she is above the law. Maybe it is time to show her and others like her they are wrong.

8. Hey, it is easy to criticize the dispatcher, but obviously he got it figured it out, but kept drilling her to keep up on the path... that's, hello? why the cops found her fast. Hello? The dispatcher already had the cops on the trail from point to point... get it? To the public, he sounds like a non-thinker, but actually he was communicating with the police and tracing the path... leave the guy alone!
And as for Lindsay? I think her "i am a celebrity" line was coming out of her drunk mouth, and she meant it with quite a bit of salt. If you get what I mean. Yeah, she is a danger certainly to pretty much everyone on the road and to herself, but I don't think she was being snide. I think she was being completely self-degrading by her comment. Because when you are ripped, that is what you do. Speak the truth, and anyone who gets constantly ripped, hates themselves. But no one seems to get it.

10. Apparently Lohan does not pay attention to current events. Although a drama queen, at least Hilton did her time. Now it's Lohan's turn.
I find it humorous to read a post that actually defends Lohan and her ilk. Leave her alone and she won't get into trouble? She's only a kid? It is not holier than thou to comment on someone who is looked up to as supposedly being a good role model. It is not slander to comment on facts presented by the media. It is not slander to call a duck a duck.

So far, no one has proved her to be wrong.

12. Isn't this a Goober Bush line of defense? If it works for him, then why not try it. After all, she is far more popular than he is.

13. well then harley, maybe u should go calm down. yes the press need to leave celebs alone and yea i agree that slandering isnt very nice but on the other hand the celebs do put themselves out there. and yea she probly wont get much worse than a fine and lord knows that if anyone normal went outa nd did the same thing we'd be in jail for a awhile but to say that she is above the law is just idiotic and very immature of her. she is no longer a kid too. she should get treated as an adult liek evryone else but she wont!

14. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone! I my self have been in jail for DWI's, but I did it to myself. Now I have to get back up from the bottom. Don't judge if you are not being judged.

15. What's the problem with the dispatcher? He's doing exactly what he's supposed to be doing - finding out where she is (she's moving, he needs POINTS so he can trace her path) and finding out what's going on. It's not like he can SEE!
