What makes this even more disturbing is how he concludes his little segment, the eerie way he says "We neeeeeeed another nine-eleven." I am sorry, that's really, really, fantastically offensive. Olbermann caught this and mentioned it on air as well.
I for one think what Jon Stewart said in response to 9/11 was appropriate and from the heart considering the climate of the time, I also hope it's the ONLY time he ever has to speak like that.
Why would anybody debate the need for acts of mass murder?

1. Hey Jeff! I agree with you! How dare they ask for more terror! I just think it is so amazing the height of some people's greed that they would rather cover up their incompetence with another tragedy! There has been a carnage of human proportions and financial resources squandered. There is much that can be done to aleviate human misery and it is just apalling that there are those that just think of their own mass fortunes instead of the good of our country, countrymen, and humans around the world!

3. The sly Fox Ministry of Propaganda aside, even I think John Stewart's on-air response to the 9/11 attacks was way over-the-top and a really bad acting job. It's why I can't stand to watch him to this day. I also can't stand that he gets all of the credit for that show. Take him out of the chair and it goes on even beter without him. Probably even funnier. I will give John kudos for slamming Tucker Carlson when he was on CNN, though.

4. Jeff,
9/11 is an American issue, not Canadian. If anything bad happens in the United States, John Gibson can't pack-up and run home to Canada.
So mind your own business.

5. Personally, I believe this is gloating because it looks like we don't have enough courage to actually investigate what happened in hindsight. On every issue, Democrats have been right because the Bush administration took power with a "Non Vote Count" and imposed a radical agenda. That agenda began with an attack on this country that certainly wasn't a "Sneak Attack". Lacking the will to investigate the events leading to that attack has left us open to another attack if the individuals responsible for controlling the information collected refuse to share it. 9-11 was an avoidable tragedy that benefitted the Bush administration by manipulating our emotions to blind us to the reality we are facing. If Bush gave us notice that our planes were at risk how many Flight 93's would have happened on 9-11? The real tragedy of 9-11 was we had no air defense that day. We were helpless to prevent the attack and the government refused. Again, this seems to be gloating. No one wants to talk about what our defenses were doing or why Bush was reading.

7. This is incredible!! I hate the whole right vs. left arguement, but these comments put a huge whole in the republican arguement that democrats want to see our troops die. The people at Fox News have come out and said now that they want thousands of Americans to die!! And to make fun of a heartfelt statement made by Jon Stewart after 9/11??? Do these people have souls or are they just plain evil???

12. I couldn´t even bear to listen to that idiotic bully from Fox mocking Jon Stewart. Jon is a hero for doing what he does every day and for him to be so open and honest with America is nothing short of wonderful and amazing. Giving us the chance to take some time out and laugh at the craziness going on with our administration instead of just being frustrated and angry is truly a gift and I´m so glad we have him. We love you Jon!!!!

13. To boil down what jackgolden, jobo, and willet are saying... they support thousands of Americans dying in another terrorist attack. This isn't a right or left issue... this is a human issue... for someone on either side of the political arguement to wish death on people is morally wrong, especially to do so for a political purpose as John Gibson does
Matt at 10:13AM on Aug 16th 2007
14. Gibson is a disgusting, vile human being. All of the people pushing for more terrorist attacks to gain Bush political capital are just horrible. The sad thing is, their idea of unity is unwavering, unthinking support for this administration. America may disagree, it may be contentious, argumentative, or even just plain mean, but all the same we are united. We are all Americans, and even beyond that to those of us who actually aren't Americans, we are all people. John Gibson doesn't want unity, he wants blind faith, people who support an administration rather than their country or their convictions. Unity is not about being mindless or blind it is about our willingness to stand together, to support and protect one another despite disagreements, not for disagreements to be non-existent. Can you imagine the hatred Fox would spew if 9/11 had happened under a Democratic president and another news agency called for a repeat, just to cement the presidents ratings? Gibson, you and those who support you, like willet, utterly fail any test of compassion, humanity, and freedom. It is truly sad that you and I are both American. How would any of these monsters feel if this repeat they all want so fervently happened to them, or their families? Would Gibson be happy he got his wish if a terrorist destroyed the building his family was in? Or would willet want to have his friends or family or even himself burned alive in some sort of attack? These people are so ready to throw away the lives of their fellow Americans in order to turn the survivors into sheep, it is appalling. Not a single shred of compassion to any one of them. They have nothing but my contempt and disgust.

15. This is for willet, who says that 9/11 is an american issue, and not a canadian one and for another commenter to mind his own business. 9/11's impacts are two-fold. Firstly affecting the victims, and the families of the victims. And secondly, affecting the rest of the world. If you are from kentucky, you are not more affected than any canadian (by the way, we are STILL fighting in afghanistan, you guys should come help). This is truly a world issue, and like it or not "willet" the USA is part of the world.
