What makes this even more disturbing is how he concludes his little segment, the eerie way he says "We neeeeeeed another nine-eleven." I am sorry, that's really, really, fantastically offensive. Olbermann caught this and mentioned it on air as well.
I for one think what Jon Stewart said in response to 9/11 was appropriate and from the heart considering the climate of the time, I also hope it's the ONLY time he ever has to speak like that.
Why would anybody debate the need for acts of mass murder?

16. Why on earth is this John Gibson puke making fun of Jon Stewart for saying something heartfelt he said six years ago?
If you contrast this clip with the current Daily Show, you can see Jon is younger, more vulnerable and less comfortable in his role on air. Also, a national tragedy had just struck. That doesn't make his words any less sincere.
I'd never heard of John Gibson until this incident occurred. It sounds like he'll stoop to anything for a little publicity...unless he really is stupid enough to think we "need" another 9/11. WTF?!

17. I thought Jon's remarks about 9/11 were very appropriate. I can't remember much or what he said even though I did watch it that night but I do remember him saying that when the smoke cleared the one thing he saw when he looked out his window was the statue of liberty which I thought was a symbolic thing to say. I am wondering why someone is mocking this though especially when it was said almosy 6 years ago.

18. From above post:
"even I think John Stewart's on-air response to the 9/11 attacks was way over-the-top and a really bad acting job"
WTF??? Are you saying that Jo[h]n Stewart was NOT as upset as he appeared to be on 9/20/01? I get choked up to this day looking at images from 9/11, and I lived about 20 miles away from ground zero.
Yeah, a guy who lives to make people laugh just LOVED going on the air and looking vulnerable. He obviously felt a great need to say what he said, and anyone who thinks otherwise must have a heart of stone.

19. I heard the funniest response to one of John Gibsons juvenile rants from Keith Olbermann recently. Gibson was ranting about Olbermann "breaking the rules of journalism" by providing autographed copies of his book to fans who were going to auction them at the Yearlykos Convention.. Gibson said if I had done something like that while I worked for NBC I would have been fired.. Keith made Gibson Worst Person in the World and tore apart his rant but the first line was the best.. He began by saying John when you worked for NBC... You WERE fired!!! Every time I see or hear John Gibson I wonder how this guy stays employed. I don't like a lot of right wing talking heads but with most I can understand their appeal to some like minded person. Gibson though is a mystery. I think the caller on this piece may have been serious about calling from his closet...

20. # 12, how in the hell is Jon Stewart a hero? He's a comedian for cryin' out loud! As far as Fox news being a tool of the right, what do you all think CNN, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, NBC, NY Times, Boston Globe, LA Times, etc, are tools of? Hmmmm?

21. How low and immature! Is this what Fox has lowered itself to? Making fun of a sincere statement after a horrible tragedy in which we all suffered. John Gibson should be ashamed.

22. Let's never let facts intrude on a good bashing of Fox News and the obsession the left has with it.
For your information, the column, "We Need Another 9/11" was written by a columnist for the liberal Philadlephia Daily News. Jesus, you people are pathetic.

23. Most people here aren't responding to the "we need another 9/11" article. We are responding to the statements made by John Gibson about Jon Stewart.
Tiffany at 12:59PM on Aug 16th 2007
24. To twann: did you even watch the clip? at least know what you are talking about before you speak/write
To April: The major difference is that CNN and others aren't blatantly wishing for the deaths of thousands of Americans

25. I appreciate an intellectual response to statements but at this moment I wish someone would send me John Gibson's whereabouts so that I could go punch him in the nose.
Thanks Jeff

26. FOX NEWS IS NOT NEWS, AND JOHN GIBSON IS NOT A NEWS ANCHOR....THEY ARE HATE MONGERS WHO MAKE FUN OF PEOPLE AND SHOULD WORK FOR THE NATIONAL ENQUIRER.
sandy at 1:49PM on Aug 16th 2007
27. Matt, CNN and other may not be blatantly "wishing for the deaths of Americans," but neither is Fox News! Another thing is that the last thing the left wants is for the U.S. to be successful in Iraq; it wouldn't fit their agenda.
April at 2:56PM on Aug 16th 2007
28. What do you expect from a guy like John Gibson? This nut job wrote a book about how liberals want to "take away" Christmas a few years ago, offering no proof of such a thing except his own wacky opinions.
The fact that FOX continues to pay this man a salary speaks volumes about their ethics...

29. # 5 Cecil. If Bush should've known that 9/11 was going to happen, but was "lacking the will to investigate," then what was Clinton doing while the terrorists were attending flight school and planning 9/11 for two years on Clintoon's watch? Nevermind, I just answered my own question.

30. Fox news may actually show both GOP and liberal sides. But CBS, NBC, ABC, MSNBC, CNN, PBS, and NPR are standard bearers for only the left wing socialist.
