Something that many are unaware when watching protest footage on television is that within the protest group are undercover agents, many police officers. For reasons I can't explain (but you can use your imagination) these police officers try to provoke riots. In this case three alleged police officers were outed by a crowd of peaceful protesters at the SPP meetings in Montebello Quebec. The provocateur were armed with rocks and sticks and were likely going to use them to try to start a riot.
The facts aren't in yet whether or not these men were actually police officers but the protest group has good reason to suspect. Here is an old Bill Moyers exposé on police provocateurs..

1. CTV.ca police accused of using provocateurs at summit
Late Tuesday, photographs taken by another protester surfaced, showing the trio lying prone on the ground. The photos show the soles of their boots adorned by yellow triangles. A police officer kneeling beside the men has an identical yellow triangle on the sole of his boot.
Beyond any reasonable doubt, these three were police agents.

2. The CTV.ca report is actually a Canadian Press wirestory from Joan Bryden that has picked up by a number of newspapers as well, including the Ottawa Sun and the Toronto Star.
Re: 'The Yellow Triangles' - they are further circumstantial evidence to be sure. However, two things should be kept in mind. 1) CPress has not yet produced the picture (as of midnight PDT Aug21/07) and, as 'The Torontoist' has pointed out they could represent Canadian Safety Industry seals that are quite common.
However, there is another interesting bit in the Bryden piece and that is a non-denial denial from the RCMP about whether or not the men were in fact policemen or if the Mounties use provocateurs.
Finally, and this is a little extra tidbit - there is no record of the arrest of the men despite the fact that they were taken down (rather bizarrely as is noted) but also that they were led away with plastic wrist restraints on.
More details at my place if anyone's interested.

3. It is confirmed, we live in a fascist dictatorship. I will be greatly surprised if there is even an election held in 2008. If there is im sure the electronic ballot boxed will deliver one of their toadies into the whitehouse. NO wonder KBR got a 385 million contract to build gulags on the American homeland.

4. This is exactly what happened at the WTO in Seattle when the police allowed the anarchists from Eugene Oregon to run rampant and destroy things. Of course, not one of them got arrested. The other protestors who were minding their own business got herded like cattle and jailed on account of the Eugene nuts.

5. looksbooks--
This is not a trivial matter for reasonable people up here in the country formerly known as Canuckistan.
What I found most distressing was the fact that, regardless of who these fellows actually are and/or who they are affiliated with, this was a deliberate attempt at provocation that would have involved all kinds of innocent, unarmed and unprotected people if it had succeeded.
Furthermore, those unprotected people were actually doing their best to make sure such a provocation did not occur.
The video itself really is quite chilling.
Following the developments at my place as they move forward....one of the labour groups says they have 'proof' that the fellows were associated with authorities....

6. Heidi: He's talking about Canada. Which I'm happy to see. You should talk about your own country more often, Jeff.

7. HA! I wish I could Mel, but really it's a boring country where nothing much happens, the odd Moose on the highway, beavers breaking into igloos... You can only cover so much of that. The States! Man everyday something crazy happens, way more interesting, the entertainment capitol of the world.

8. I don't think it was the R.C.M.P., the video shows "anarchists" from the Quebec provincial police, in my opinion. Those guys were waaayy too amateurish to be trained properly. The big question is, who benefits? And how did they get the Q.P.P. to do their bidding? Somebody's got to be fired.

11. Guys;
while the "yellow badges" could be yet more support, it's far from damning
It looks like the good ole Vibram seal (they are very common and not restricted to police military, they actually started in mountaineering)
I just looked at the botoms of some of my boots (including my asolo trekking boots and my chippewa motorcycle boots, and some old combat boots) guess what...vibram
