Fox News Channel aggressively pushed for the Iraq War. And they got it. Now, they are doing the same exact thing with the Iran War. See video below for indisputable evidence. The question is, will they get what they're looking for again? Will we have another war started by Fox News Channel?
Of course, Fox can't do it alone. But lucky for them, they don't have to. Joe Lieberman, well-placed neo-cons in think tanks throughout DC (like Michael O'Hanlon and Kenneth Pollack), Republicans in Congress and Dick Cheney are all working together to make this sick neo-con fantasy into a reality.
The question now is whether the rest of the media will be suckers enough to go along. You can see clear as day in the video above that Fox is following the same exact playbook they used to start a war with Iraq. But what helped tremendously that time was that the rest of the media bought it and actively helped them to promote it. So far, I haven't seen very much skepticism on the claims about Iran when I turn on TV, just like before the Iraq War.
After all of the hand wringing by the media about how they got it wrong in Iraq, I sure hope to God they aren't going to make the same exact mistake about Iran. So far, the signs are not encouraging. But Brave New Films, among others, are putting them on notice. Let's see, if they get it right this time.
I was on a press conference call this morning with Robert Greenwald of Brave New Films and Senator Bernie Sanders and Greenwald said that they have five more hours of footage just like this from just April of this year on. They out up an hour of it on their website. It's hard not to call Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes warmongers after seeing this footage. I wonder if they lose any sleep at all over the people killed in the senseless wars they start?

16. Hey Dumbsh*ts (including Cenk Uygur)? Did it ever occur to you that fox might be right! They were last time, terrorists WERE in Iraq. Wow, DO you want to have anouther 911? Cause Iran these days, no matter how many libs refuse to believe it, is a threat. They ignore our restraints on their nuclear testing and are sheltering and aiding terroritst! Disprove that! Just becuase Fox says the same things about Iran that it did Iraq doesnt mean they are less right! How stupid are you? Stop trying to forcefeed people your conspiracy crap, you just want us all to stick our heads in the sand. Im suprised there wansnt a cheap shot at Bush included... its all you libs joke about these days...

17. "Cause Iran these days, no matter how many libs refuse to believe it, is a threat."
Actually, this is right. However, the question that you have to ask is "Are they a big enough threat to send our already overstressed Army and other military forces into their country, for very little benefit in the long run?"
The answer is "NO! A THOUSAND TIMES NO!" They are not that big of a danger. Hardly any terrorist supporters come from Iran, they give very little money and aid to terrorists in comparison to our good buddy Saudi Arabia, and most of the people in that country are moderate or liberal Muslims, at least outside of the government.

18. Fox is to journalism what the WWE is to sports -- with the exception that fans of wrestling aren't so stupid that they think they are actually watching a sport.

19. The left wing liberal dems are really stretching their propaganda, as if a tv station could make that happen. Most media is made up of liberals being traitors to this country by helping the teroists with their rot, sounds like maybe Fox is getting ahead in rtings again and the liberals can't handle it. Liberals think protest to much, sounds like school ground mentality. Stop and think, no tv station could make this happen, get real!

20. For Mary, Twann, Parker, all the conservatives who feel we should stay in Iraq...and SOME of you think Iran may need to be invaded next; tell me where will we get the troops?
I think you all need to sign up..if you are too old, then your kids, grandkids, friends, relatives need to enlist. It is time for a draft! I know the standard GOP answer..we have enough troops. No, we really don't and we can always use more.
What say, guys?

21. Interesting: Where were all the libs when wwe went and decimated Germany and Japan in WWII. No one said , "don't blow up schools, hospitals, churches, etc., like they cry today. They better wise up before it is too late. The Dems. did it right then but where are they today?

22. There are actually two issues here. One is American policy toward iran and the other is Fox news. I know that like the inquisition, you are wishing that Iran will go away; but it won't. It is dangerous to assume that Iran is not a threat because you questioned the motives and operational conduct of the Iraq war. Just because the Iraq war may have been a terrible foreign policy blunder doesn't ipso facto make a standoff with Iran wrong. While is is clear that Iraq was much farther away from nuclear capabilities then everyone thought, it is equally clear that Iran is very close. Also, the Iranian leadership has enunciated a clear intent to wipe out the state of Israel by any means necessary. The clear and present danger element that was questionable about Iraq is much less ambiguous with Iran. This doesn't necessarily mean that conflict is inevitable, and of course, everything must be done to avoid it. It is disingenuous to say that such a conflict would be farfetched and unnecessary and driven by some jingoistic television news station. As to Fox, it seems that there is this fixation that Americans are being hoodwinked by Fox into adopting aggresive foreign policy positions because of Fox's underlying conservative bias. Even if this were undeniably true, so what. Let all of the talking heads state their positions and justify them in whatever context they believe. We are smart enough and sophisticated enough to listen to all points of view and come to some sort of consensus. The idea that there is some Leni Riefestahl at Fox putting on a daily Triumph of the Will to get Americans to froth at the mouth for a war in Iran is just as silly as the right's contention that the liberal mainstream media has assaulted us into socialism. We can tell the difference between hard facts and commentary. I welcome the diversity of opinions and want to hear all voices without any threat of censorship.

23. Unlike you Rhondalee I'm a Conservative and dont read,or havent you heard? Rhondalee you can't have it both ways, first you talk of your fear for your daughter... your sister... your daughter... your sister...on 911, then you say we are insane people believing our goverment and the fright factor. Well which is it?

24. David, it would probably serve you well not to ask questions you probably wont like the answers to, in this situation anyway... I did talk with an army recruiter about joining up, to serve, in October last year at a job fair I attended here in Colorado Springs (a great military town, come visit us sometime!) Unfortunately I was told because of my age (54) I was too old to serve... much to my disappointment and I mean that sincerly, I would have been proud to serve you and our country.

27. The main stream media has lost all credibility and the ratings prove it. So they can't stop Fox from doing anything. Fox news didnt start the war, they reported on it. But this article did bring to mind what democrat President Johnson said along time ago..."If I've lost Cronkite, I've lost the war." Even back then the dems were influenced by polls and old men at news desks !That could be where Cenks mindset is on his article. Cronkite was on NBC when the big three had so much impact on policy. I guess for peple who live in a post 911 world, that influence is still there..or so they think.
magic at 6:08PM on Aug 23rd 2007
28.
Cronkite was on CBS - not NBC. And speaking of credibility, Fox News doesn't like to mention the fact that over half of the foreign fighters coming into Iraq are from our "friend" Saudi Arabia. That's the very same country that provided 16 of the 21 9/11 hijackers and is ruled by a backward and repressive monarchy. But according to the administration they're our "friends" - so instead we put our attention on Syria and Iran. You remember Iran - they were the main reason the U.S. government backed Saddam Husseins regime in the 80s. Apparently someone forgot all about this line of reasoning in the push to invade Iraq. NOW they're again concerned about the potential threat Iran poses. But don't give up hope on Iran - maybe they can become "cured" of terrorism like career dictator Colonel Muammar Gaddafi of Libya. Gaddafi spent over three decades sponsoring and promoting acts of terrorism (Munich, Pan Am flight 103, and many more) around the world - our government today calls him "friend". President Reagan called him a "mad dog". Now apparently all is forgiven and Gaddafi is free to continue to rule Libya with an iron fist. He's even put his sons in positions of power in the government. Freedom and democracy on the way for the people of Libya ? In a word NO. So much for "you can't negotiate with terrorists".
But don't look for any stories about Libya to appear on Fox News anytime soon.

29. Yikes, Mary. Proof positive you are a complete dimwit. First you mispell my name, adding an 'n', Rhoda not Rhonda.
You say you are 54, I am 52, again moronic misinterpretation of 'my sister, my daugher.'. It was from an epic film " Chinatown', Jack Nicholsen and Faye Dunaway, apparently epic's are not your forte, either. It had nary a thing to do with MY DAUGHTER or MY SISTER, twit. It was an analogy of Bush and his cronies saying 'WMDS in Iraq', 'No WMDS in Iraq', 'Viet Nam and Iraq are comparable wars", "Viet Nam and Iraq are entirely different wars'. Entiende?
My goodness, pick up a friggin' newspaper.
And so, I am not allowed to fear for my family? Is this due to the fact I am a ,YIKES, Democrat.
I could give a flying F@@k what your choice of partisanship is, it has nothing at all to do with the price of eggs in China... Damn, now you'll probably call me a Red, Commie, Pinko, because I said China.................
