I have to ask, why even bother having a Q&A segment during a beauty contests? Nobody cares what these ladies have to say and their answers don't change the outcome of the event.
Case in point: Miss South Carolina finished 3rd. (Edit: Yes it was 3rd Runner up, thanks Dustin)
Jimmy Kimmel breaks down Miss South Carolina's answer to the question, "why can't 20% of Americans locate the US on a map?"

4. Hey livinxsacrifice.
You wrote "but if your going to" and it should have been "but if you're going to." Just thought I'd mention that

6. If she is an example of what is produced by 'No Child Left Behind' the future of the Republic is at stake.
If ever there was a reason to teach kids to think and question, rather than rote memorization to a test - she's it.

7. Miss South Carolina is young, and I'm sure that she was overwelmed. It was her first time in front of millions of peaple. I believe her when afterwards, she said that she really didn't hear the whole question. But when you're nervous, sometimes you're too intimidated to say "Im sorry, I didn't quite hear the whole question". "Could you please repeat that?" Millions and millions of people have made mistakes under pressure throughout the years. Hers was nothing to be embarrased about or to made fun of. No one was hurt. It's really no big deal. I say leave the girl alone. She's gorgeous and comes across as very sweet. She's gonna go far.A week from now, nobody is going remember a mistake that they themselves could have made. DAN

8. 99.9999999999% of all Americans cant tell the name of the northest town in America including Alaska that you can get to by car..
Answer: Deadhorse
I am not kidding!! I drove all way there and I think it should become a destination town for everyone to go to and paint the town red!!! What the heck!
NO it is not Barrow which 99.91111% of you dont know anyway... cuz you have to fly over there or hop in a ferry boat...
99.999%% of Americans is one trick ponies. Good at one thing that is it. Only surface of eveyting..

9. Dan, surely you don't believe that youngster wants to be, "left alone." These bimbos don't enter pageants because they want to be, "left alone."
You are probably right about her, "going far." She has turned herself into a celebrity.
She got what she wants and the rest of us got a good laugh.
Everybody wins.

11. Does anyone watch beauty contests anymore? These events are silly and outdated.
Besides, if guys want to look at beautiful women, they have many more options now...we do have the internet, 'ya know. Hey, at least the women on "certain sites" don't pretend to be smart!!

12. I didn't realize that american kids couldn't recognize there own Country on a Map.
I don't think its true. Where did this Judge get that information from.
Poor Miss South Carolina, I think it was asked to throw her off. Sabotage!!!!!!
chrissy at 4:24PM on Aug 30th 2007
13. Actually, Dan, if there was ever a moment to be made fun of, THIS was it. Let's face it, she's embarrassed now, like we all probably would be, but its not as if she said something that actually made sense and we just laughed her off the stage. She completely f--d that up, and she knows it. I'm sure she's pretty smart herself, I'm not gonna judge her based on one video, but for that video, I sure will laugh my head off. She probably should, too.

15. I disagree, Jeff...the Q&A segments are an integral part of any beauty pageant.
I just think that they should have to answer while naked.
Then, after a ceremonial inspection of their teeth and hooves, they can be auctioned off to the highest bidder.
Think of the ratings!
