President Bush said he would "sadly accept" White House press secretary Tony Snow's resignation. No reason was given, but Snow has been in treatment for cancer, and he's said taking the job was a financial burden (it pays only $168,000 a year). Katie-Couric-esque Dana Perino will replace him. Rove, Gonzales, Snow . . . it's getting to be like that nursery rhyme "Ten Little Indians." You know, the one that ends " And then there were none."

1. You shouldn't be so happy that someone quits because of health conditions, especially if are using his sickness as a gain for your happiness. I don't care what office they hold or claim.

2. The man has cancer, do you really think your title is cute?

3. Clearly, Tony Snow stepped down because of his health. If the doctors aren't sure about his long-term prognosis, then he has to think about his family's financial future.
As for other members of the Administration, there are two factors.
First, Washington is a miserable place to work. I have friends who went to Washington thinking it would be fantastic, and after some time, they couldn't wait to leave.
Most members of the military will tell you that the Pentagon is a horrible duty station.
Second, politics is far less fun when one's party is out of power. Remember how many Democrat members of Congress left after the Republicans took over in 1994?

5. I am sorry to see Tony Snow leave his job. He has brought great dignity and grace to the White House. It is obvious he is leaving due to his health; I hope he can overcome this dreadful disease and run for political office in the future.

6. Ada must have been born last night. It is not unusual for people to quit in the last year of any administration. Besides Tony has already stated that he has children who will be going to college soon and he needs the money as I'm sure his cancer treatments have cost him a bundle. Anyone with half a brain knows that even the best insurance wont cover everything.

7. i saw him on the various newscasts on yesterday and he looked very sick. i know he has cancer and is taking chemo for it but he really look like he needs to rest. i am happy that he is stepping down to see that his family needs will be met. i thought the job paid a lot more than $168,00 which ain't no chump change to the average working person.
i just fear that the poor man doesn't have long on this earth. BLESS HIM AND HIS FAMILY.

8. This is old news people, the first explanation given for Snow leaving is financial not for health reasons. He wasn't there for that long anyway, long enough to run out of excuses for Gonzalez and Bush.
The GAO report on Iraq sites 13 out of 16 failures for meeting benchmarks, it must be galling for Snow to suggest that the white house deserve's 'partial credit' and are being judged too strictly. This is the White House after all, not junior high.

9. I am not sorry Tony Snow is leaving, I only wish the entire administration would leave also!!! Furtheremore, I do not believe that he brought any integrity or dignity to the white house, I believe that half the time he was rude to the reporters, seldom or never answer any questions with straight answers. He lies just like everyone in this misirable administration!!
Having said all of that, Tony Snow is a human being with a terrible illness and I pray he can get well and beat his cancer!! I am certain his family is giong through a very hard time, not to mention what he must be going through! No one should take any pleasure in laughing or getting satisfaction over what is happening to this man and his health.

10. If it is difficult to get a kid to college making "only" $168,000 a year I am in trouble. I make no where near that.
It must be draining to deal with people like reporters every day and having cancer and trying to recover from that has to be excruciating.

11. Awfully callous choice for a blog title, don't ya think? The man has cancer and a family to support. Regardless of his politics, sympathy is in order.
How *did* you get selected to be a AOL NewsBlogger?

12. Look up the original form of the rhyme for "Ten little Indians" It's about as tasteless as your post.

13. I don't know how this works are Ada's writings considered a blog, and the responses considered posts? Oh well, just so nobody is confused, I was refering to Ada's words and only her words in my previous comment. I think it is horrible that anyone would actually be happy about someone who might be quitting their job because of cancer. My best wishes go out to Mr. Snow and his family and friends.
My father died of cancer and I got to watch the strongest, most honerable man I have ever known slowly lose his physical and mental abilities and then die a long excruciating death. While I understand that the writer of this blog was not expressing happiness because of Mr. Snow's cancer, I still think that she showed no tact in expressing her glee over his resignation.

15.
Tony Snow has a unique and difficult set of circumstances. I'm sure he tried to do the best he could working in an extremely difficult job. Everyone wishes him well no matter what their viewpoint. But the job of a press secretary is to communicate - that is not possible when the people you report to prefer to work in secret. These people do not see themselves as public servants - they see themselves as the anointed and enlightened ruling class that is empowered to rule over the masses. So far that has not worked too well for this country. Maybe it's time to reread the preamble of the Constitution - providing for the common defense is not the only thing mentioned there. Establishing justice, promoting the general welfare, and securing liberty for ourselves and our posterity are just as or even more important. Somehow that has been forgotten in this country recently.
