I had no idea how you were supposed to proposition men for homosexual sex in a public restroom. But luckily, now the conservative Republican Senator from Idaho, Larry Craig has filled us all in. He was caught trying to proposition a cop for gay sex in an airport in Minnesota. And apparently there is a secret code for that request. Watch the video below to find out what you're supposed to do to ask for this kind of sex act in a bathroom:
After we did this segment on the show this morning, we got a ton of calls confirming that this is true. Men called in saying they have done this trick many times before and it has worked. I loved the truck driver who said he used to do it, but he doesn't anymore. Sure, whatever gets you through the night.
Man, these Republicans are unbelievable! How many sex scandals is this now? And how many of them are gay? I would list all of them here but I have other things to do today. We have been doing a segment called Republican Sexcapades every week on our show for the last year -- and we go through about three stories a week. We are nowhere near running out.
Remember the Republican in Florida who propositioned the undercover cop in a men's room and then pretended he was scared of black people and offered to service the guy out of fear. Remember the head of the Young Republicans who would lower young men's pants while they were sleeping and try to force himself upon them.
Remember Mark Foley who hit on the underage male interns working for Congress. Apparently, Larry Craig got in trouble for the same thing back in 1982 (and back then the interns said there were 10 to 15 Congressmen who were trying to have sex with the teenage interns -- that is beyond belief). Remember David Vitter who campaigned against Bill Clinton's immoral behavior and then got caught on the DC madam's list (and with a New Orleans hooker to boot).
It goes on and on. Are there any Republican politicians left in the country who aren't involved in a sex scandal or gay? And all of this would be funny but not very relevant if it weren't for the gross, gigantic hypocrisy. Listen to Larry Craig talk about family values here (that's why he says he supports Mitt Romney -- who of course jettisoned Craig from the campaign quicker than you could shuffle your feet in a men's room).
So, it turns out Mr. Conservative Family Values Republican Senator was looking to have gay trysts in public restrooms. You'd be surprised if you weren't so used to it already. So, the next time a Republican comes around saying they are going to protect your family from gay people, think about what he must be doing in a public restroom near you.

UPDATE: Larry Craig is not gay! And he's never been gay!! At least that's what he says. Listen to this hilarious press conference he had yesterday and the even funnier Meet the Press appearance from 1999 when he was speaking about Bill Clinton's sex life:
UPDATE II: It looks like Larry Craig has finally resigned. We don't know if it's to pursue his dream as a tap dancer in a local bathroom near you.

33. Geez Cenk, give it a break. You really seem to get your rocks off talking about Republicans sex lives. You know there are at least as many if not more Democratic degenerates than Republican. Remember Frank and the male prostitue, Clinton and the cigar tube and Kennedy screwing anything that could not run away fast enough? The list goes on and on. By the way Cenk-since the Democratic Party seems to appease homosexual voters the most, is that why you switched parties? I could be mistaken, but did I read somewhere you tap dance?

34. I think we all should be thanking Senator Craig for protecting us from inadvertantly signaling for sex in public restrooms. How ridiculous can you get? Setting your bag down a certain way? The way you place your feet? Fortunately the people who have occupied the stalls next to me must have been as ignorant of these supposed signals as I was. Like Kent (#10), I'm a type A who fidgets a lot. I also suffer from adult ADHD which also makes me prone to restlessness. I'm so tired of you liberals seeking out sex scandals to blast conservative Republicans with - who cares? John F. Kennedy was famous for his "sexcapades," as was Bill Clinton. As far as "Bible-thumpers" go, there are bad apples in every bunch and, as much as I hate what they have done, it is ultimately between them and God. There are millions of good Christians out there who live out their lives in God's service that never make headlines. Why? Because a juicy sex scandal gets more publicity and draws more readers. It's time for America to wake up and judge their elected officials by what they are doing for the American people, not by their sex lives. While you are making a big deal out of this, Bush is sending billions to Mexico for their "War on Drugs," while allowing illegal aliens not only to work here and send the money to Mexico, but also allowing them access to Social Security and social services like Medicaid, Food Stamps and TANF. Meanwhile citizens like me are without healthcare waiting on a disability determination and seniors are trying to live on a fraction of the actual cost of living, having to choose between paying bills or eating or having necessary medications. With all the real problems in this country, all this hoopla about sex scandals needs to stop so we can focus on the real problems in America today. First and foremost would be keeping the billions given away as foreign aid to use improve conditions in our own country. As long as one child goes to bed hungry, or one senior must choose between food or medicine, we have no business sending money to other countries - most of which take the money and then turn around and bad mouth the US. So stop with the scandals and focus on the important issues.
And yes, I am a conservative Christian, but I vote Independant. It's just usually hard to find a Democrat I can support. With the playing field for 2008 I can't find anyone I feel comfortable voting for in either party. Hopefully someone else will step up before Election Day.

35. By the way Cenk, I can't wait until all of the degenerate Democrats names come out in the D.C. Madam case. We will see these people who profess their undivided loyalty to their wives and children squirm like Clinton did. Wasn't Dick Morris President Clintons advisor? Oh, I forgot-he was caught doing hookers and Clinton fired him for it at the same time he was (not) having sex with Lewinsky-lol. What a crock.

38. newsflash; it's possible to be a conservative Bible believing Christian & still sin & struggle with sins. Is it hypocrisy? YES. But, we don't know Larry Craig's heart, & I for one feel very sad that he has these struggles ahead of him. Only Jesus Christ can free him from this bondage.

39. How long is it going to take for the good pepole of the United States of America to understand that same sex, sex is nothing to get all worked up about. Being gay is being real, being a self-indulgent scared to death queer is sick.I'm gay ,I'm proud, and i'm free.I have killed in wartime for my freedom and those of other Americans. Leave the hell alone those of us who find love in the same sex realm.Or find yourselfs another slave.I have stood my ground against tougher foes then what walk in this world. My God this is nothing but more political crap. But what I want to know why is a faggot a-- cop hanging in the mens room.Oh,he was doing his job. RIGHT! How about following him around, bet you will find he really loves his job. Especially when he's getting DOWN to business.

40. YOU RIGHT THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS GAY SEX ITS REALLY CALLED QUEER SEX OR THE OLD FASHION PUNK SEX.
Derald at 9:36PM on Aug 28th 2007
41. Wow. As a gay man, I can only say "Wow".
In all honesty, I don't care who he sleeps with; that is between him and his wife. However, he knew what he was doing, because he went beyond tapping his foot - he reached down under the stall as if he were "reaching" for something. And he was - the officer's johnson. He pleaded guilty because he was, plain and simple.
The issue here is not that he was cruising in a men's bathroom in an airport - ok, it is - but it is also about hyprcracy. If Barney Frank, Charlie Crist, Mark Foley, or any other gay politician were to get busted, I would shake my head, because they know better. However, Senator Craig set himself up for this, simply because of his stance on LBGT issues. He votes with his party on these issues, and because of this, he has opened himself up to this criticism, ridicule, and scorn.
Maybe he will just call a rent-boy from now on.....
Jay at 9:36PM on Aug 28th 2007
42. You are so right Jay. The issue is not his sexual orientation but his HYPOCRICY. His personal life is no one's business UNLESS he is persecuting others when he is doing the same.
For shame!!!
Evelyn at 9:50PM on Aug 28th 2007
43. I guess the hypocrisy is the big issue...but that doesn't interest me nearly as much as the hither-before-known secret rites of the so called "gay public bathroom sex" members. I want a pamphlet on acceptable bathroom signals. I do wiggle my toes in sandals and, occasionally hum. I also bring my luggage into the stall with me, so as to prevent theft of said luggage while wiggling my toes. I definitely do not want to give someone the wrong idea. I'll make the suggestion again, I think Homeland Security needs to be on top of this one. Bathroom Protection Pamphlets. Know your rites, and such. I do know if someone were peeking in my stall, they would definitely hear a very loud, "What's your problem?" because, I just don't tolerate that kind of thing.
I would just like to know, that's all. I would have thought waving a sealed condom under the stall door would have done the trick. Why do these secret societies have to be so clever?
rivercelt at 10:16PM on Aug 28th 2007
44. Am I the only person who finds these excuses for Sen. Craig's behavior absolutely preposterous? As a gay male, I am offended by the use of the term "degenerate" in reference to gay people. What I consider degenerate is condemning other people while engaging in the same behaviors (and obviously the Senator was ashamed of his behavior) in private. That is hypocrisy. If the Senator is gay, then it's a shame that he feels so afraid--in a country of liberty--to be who he is without putting on a mask for the public eye. If he is not gay and has no sexual interest in males, then--goodness me, dare I ask?--WHAT WAS HE DOING trying to solicit sex in a public restroom?
Certainly, anyone can misinterpret some innocent foot-tapping. But if you run your hands under an adjoining stall, you are definitely reaching (RE: feeling) for something.
john at 10:22PM on Aug 28th 2007
45. I have waved my hand under the partition to get the attention of the occupant when there is no toilet paper in my stall and I'm trying to get them to hand me some. Maybe I'm not doing it right...all I ever got was toilet paper.
