I had no idea how you were supposed to proposition men for homosexual sex in a public restroom. But luckily, now the conservative Republican Senator from Idaho, Larry Craig has filled us all in. He was caught trying to proposition a cop for gay sex in an airport in Minnesota. And apparently there is a secret code for that request. Watch the video below to find out what you're supposed to do to ask for this kind of sex act in a bathroom:
After we did this segment on the show this morning, we got a ton of calls confirming that this is true. Men called in saying they have done this trick many times before and it has worked. I loved the truck driver who said he used to do it, but he doesn't anymore. Sure, whatever gets you through the night.
Man, these Republicans are unbelievable! How many sex scandals is this now? And how many of them are gay? I would list all of them here but I have other things to do today. We have been doing a segment called Republican Sexcapades every week on our show for the last year -- and we go through about three stories a week. We are nowhere near running out.
Remember the Republican in Florida who propositioned the undercover cop in a men's room and then pretended he was scared of black people and offered to service the guy out of fear. Remember the head of the Young Republicans who would lower young men's pants while they were sleeping and try to force himself upon them.
Remember Mark Foley who hit on the underage male interns working for Congress. Apparently, Larry Craig got in trouble for the same thing back in 1982 (and back then the interns said there were 10 to 15 Congressmen who were trying to have sex with the teenage interns -- that is beyond belief). Remember David Vitter who campaigned against Bill Clinton's immoral behavior and then got caught on the DC madam's list (and with a New Orleans hooker to boot).
It goes on and on. Are there any Republican politicians left in the country who aren't involved in a sex scandal or gay? And all of this would be funny but not very relevant if it weren't for the gross, gigantic hypocrisy. Listen to Larry Craig talk about family values here (that's why he says he supports Mitt Romney -- who of course jettisoned Craig from the campaign quicker than you could shuffle your feet in a men's room).
So, it turns out Mr. Conservative Family Values Republican Senator was looking to have gay trysts in public restrooms. You'd be surprised if you weren't so used to it already. So, the next time a Republican comes around saying they are going to protect your family from gay people, think about what he must be doing in a public restroom near you.

UPDATE: Larry Craig is not gay! And he's never been gay!! At least that's what he says. Listen to this hilarious press conference he had yesterday and the even funnier Meet the Press appearance from 1999 when he was speaking about Bill Clinton's sex life:
UPDATE II: It looks like Larry Craig has finally resigned. We don't know if it's to pursue his dream as a tap dancer in a local bathroom near you.

46. Wow, all the party bashing is so constructive. I can't believe how many problems it solves on a daily basis.
I love the Net for many reasons, but certainly not for political news. All it does it prove to me what I've known all along - both parties are made up of human beings and with that comes imperfections, faults and scars.
What I didn't realize is how people enjoy bashing these imperfections, faults and scars simply to make themselves feel better or somehow more important.
How about growing up and focusing on something you CAN change? Oh wait, that wouldn't be any fun, would it?

49. the secret code is, drop a toilet tissue, this means he's looking for a mary. roll up the toilet tissue into a hard ball, means he wants a rough trick. and if he slips his business card, he must be a gay politician about to be caught with his pants down and then out comes the denial he isn't really gay in front of the media.

50. oh...i so enjoy the excuses the rights are saying of craig's action. tapping one's foot is nothing...but tapping it against someones foot under the stall is another...and as for waving your hand under the divider wall...you just ask by saying "excuse me, do you have any TP available" and wave your hand under the stall to note your location...duh? short and simple. you don't just wave your hand under the stall for no reason.
i so enjoy the excuses....keep on bringing it on...i am getting a good laugh out of this one. i guess the RIGHTious party will not be waving the "morality and family value" flag for election 08'....huh? can't use that slogan anymore.

Now, that might depend on what you mean by "leg", and which one you are talking about. Some of our "super moral" friends seem to be having a very serious problem with RLS in at least one of them, don't you think?

53. Someone should do a study of men's feet now in light of this article to see how many start tapping their feet or walking and sitting very rigidly

54. Most bloggers, including the Turks, have missed an even bigger story about this event. That being,,what is a congressman (one of the self-serving politicians in America) even doing using a "Public Bathroom"???? It must be the only time a politician actually mingles with constituents without begging for campaign funds? They already have their own airport parking. Why not congressional toilets?

55. Anyone who doubts that the good Senator was "just tapping his foot" in the stall should read the arresting officer's report on line..it should dispel any doubts as to what was really going on.

56. I want me a t-shirt that have Craig wagging his finger saying "I am not gay nor have i ever been" YEah right tell that line to someone that believes it. lie maybe your wife.

57. Ahhh, the shear hypocrisy of the right-wing. These backward, ignorant, bigots pass laws against gay people in order to prevent the very behavior they are struggling with. This case is yet another example of when latent homosexuality is repressed and eventually turns into self-destructive behavior due to the inability of the individual to control their own desires, no matter what venom/hatred they spew in public. If religion wasn't so backwards-leaning in this country, this would not be an issue-being gay/bi-sexual.

59. #49...it seems people are not excusing craig for said tap...they are just commenting on the understall-wall-world and the codes that go along with them. To think that someone would flush away a family, career and any positive public service they have done while in office for a jaunt in a mensroom with a stranger is well unsanitary at best. To think I will not even touch a door knob on the way out with my bare hands........
