I had no idea how you were supposed to proposition men for homosexual sex in a public restroom. But luckily, now the conservative Republican Senator from Idaho, Larry Craig has filled us all in. He was caught trying to proposition a cop for gay sex in an airport in Minnesota. And apparently there is a secret code for that request. Watch the video below to find out what you're supposed to do to ask for this kind of sex act in a bathroom:
After we did this segment on the show this morning, we got a ton of calls confirming that this is true. Men called in saying they have done this trick many times before and it has worked. I loved the truck driver who said he used to do it, but he doesn't anymore. Sure, whatever gets you through the night.
Man, these Republicans are unbelievable! How many sex scandals is this now? And how many of them are gay? I would list all of them here but I have other things to do today. We have been doing a segment called Republican Sexcapades every week on our show for the last year -- and we go through about three stories a week. We are nowhere near running out.
Remember the Republican in Florida who propositioned the undercover cop in a men's room and then pretended he was scared of black people and offered to service the guy out of fear. Remember the head of the Young Republicans who would lower young men's pants while they were sleeping and try to force himself upon them.
Remember Mark Foley who hit on the underage male interns working for Congress. Apparently, Larry Craig got in trouble for the same thing back in 1982 (and back then the interns said there were 10 to 15 Congressmen who were trying to have sex with the teenage interns -- that is beyond belief). Remember David Vitter who campaigned against Bill Clinton's immoral behavior and then got caught on the DC madam's list (and with a New Orleans hooker to boot).
It goes on and on. Are there any Republican politicians left in the country who aren't involved in a sex scandal or gay? And all of this would be funny but not very relevant if it weren't for the gross, gigantic hypocrisy. Listen to Larry Craig talk about family values here (that's why he says he supports Mitt Romney -- who of course jettisoned Craig from the campaign quicker than you could shuffle your feet in a men's room).
So, it turns out Mr. Conservative Family Values Republican Senator was looking to have gay trysts in public restrooms. You'd be surprised if you weren't so used to it already. So, the next time a Republican comes around saying they are going to protect your family from gay people, think about what he must be doing in a public restroom near you.

UPDATE: Larry Craig is not gay! And he's never been gay!! At least that's what he says. Listen to this hilarious press conference he had yesterday and the even funnier Meet the Press appearance from 1999 when he was speaking about Bill Clinton's sex life:
UPDATE II: It looks like Larry Craig has finally resigned. We don't know if it's to pursue his dream as a tap dancer in a local bathroom near you.

61. TO # 41 Mark -
It appears what you're really saying is this: if a politician is going to go down the lesser path then he should be a democrat, not a republican. That really is helpful advice since democrats never seem to be a media target when they get caught with their pants down. (BTW, as one with a bad case of Restless Leg Syndrome, I sure hope the perverts come up with a new suck-signal. Wouldn't it be simpler in this age of enlightenment if they could just holler, "Anyone up for a blow job?" instead of having secret Mason-like signals.)

62. Some accusations shock people into helplessness and they go into flight or fight mode. Why plea guilty? People should be more aware of the tactics of prosecution before they assume everyone is guilty as accused. The report as I read it contains some doubtful assumptions on the part of the undercover officer.

63. News Flash. Sen. Craig is now blaming his foot caresses on the policeman's foot as being due to "restless leg syndrome". Stay tuned for his next excuse.

64. Anyone who thinks this guy was not soliciting same sex action in the bathroom is delusional - and probably a member of the right - and blind like the rest of the hypocrites

65. Wow, I have really been interested reading the Conservative spin on this situation. Crys of "entrapment" or "just bored in the bathroom stall", its killing me.
Read the facts. The police report is out there. This creep stood and stared in the crack in the door for two minutes (imagine if a young child was in there - still cool, my conservative friends?). He picked the stall next to the office when others were empty. He put is suitcase in front of the door. Then the tapping and hand gestering began.
When the office flashed his badge, Craig said "NO". Don't you think you might say "excuse me" or "what's this about" or "let me wipe". Its clear he was not in there to potty and there are better places to hang out in an airport than a dirty restroom.
Also conservatives, with you love of law enforcement, don't you think that the officer was highly trained to pick out those (the majority I hope) who were in there to legitimately use the bathroom and those who were not?
Please do some research before all these pointless postings about restless leg syndrome. And Mary (from page 1) I guess you are ok with sex on the streets as long as the Feds are investigating the Clintons. Great!

66. Wow! I am a Democrat and I live in Idaho. I am one of the two confessed Democrats in the state, so I'm having fun with this. I remember Craig punching away at Bill Clinton, as a "naughty boy" at another time when the moral majority decided to impeach him for "inappropriate" behavior. Maybe Craig will now join him in helping Hillary's campaign, since he has decided to leave Romney.

67. All these republicans are getting their panties in a bundle over this....
Bottom line.... Your party keeps bashing gays, and putting a lid on progression with respect to gay rights... Then, come to find out, many of them are engaging in the behavior they're supposedly opposed to.
THen, when the repubs get their panties in an even bigger bundle when the media doesn't jump over democrats engaging in homosexual acts.. Well, that's because, for the most part, democrats don't oppose gay rights/marriage, the concept of being gay, like the republicans do.
This is a matter of hypocrisy, not of homosexuality. I could honestly care less who this man wants to have sex with, just don't condemn others for doing it.
Bottom line: It's about hypocrisy.

68. Finally a subject matter that the folks that regularily write op/eds on this blog should be able to fill us all in on. Just what are the mysterious gay secret foot and hand signals this Congressman is supposedly so astute about. I don't know whether he did what they say he did or not, but I fond it preposturous to see the left leading the charge on his investigation. Its their social message that has lead to this type of activity becoming so common place in the first place! You'd think that they'd be welcoming him into their ranks with open arms, much like they did with Gary Studds and Barney Frank years ago? They both were prominent Democrats whose careers seemingly flourished and prospered after their own involvement with young pages in the Capitol out in Washington DC. Franks currently is Chairman of a Senate sub committee. This guy is at least accused of doing so with an adult. Is this more of the same hypocricy that we are all expected to ignore when a liberal makes a big issue out of it? You do the math.

69. HELLOOOOOO!!!! As an openly gay man, I am insulted that the media is refering to this "closeted BIGOT" as "Gay". He's not gay, he's just another "straight" cocksucker. Haven't you noticed that whenever there's a sting on parks, bathrooms, rest areas, that 99% of the guys that they catch are straight identified? Those are usually the ones who are outwardly Homophobic! Craig should be hung up by his testicles. Not because he wanted to suck on some strangers weinie, but because he is a HOMOPHOBE! Remember that the next time you hear someone ranting about gay people or the "gay agenda". Those same Homophobes are probably lurking in a bathroom somewhere, hoping to catch a glimpse of your penis! And not to mention, I'm sure that they've never practiced safe sex, and who knows what you might catch just sucking anything that cums your way! STOP THE HOMOPHOBIA!!!!

70. As a gay man, I am appalled at the hypocrisy of people like the honorable Republican Senator from Idaho. It is people like him who bash us while privately engaging in the acts that they so publicly oppose. All too frequently the one who protests too much, is the one engaged in the very thing they are protesting. Our society would be far better off if these individuals accepted themselves for who God made them to be, rather than attempting to suppress their true identity at the cost of the GLBT community and their own families.

71. I think there is an ancillary issue, namely the idea of soliciting sex in a bathroom. I believe I would be equally skeeved out if he were inthe lady's room soliciting sex from a female in the same manner. The extra added feature of this patently anti gay zealot soliciting same sex sex in the bathroom brings the tawdriness level to extra high. The only level higher is if he were caught in a barn soliciting sheep.

72. Kent, Kent, Kent (shaking my head). Yes, if ALL he had done was tap his foot it might have been a case of trying to wake his foot up but what misunderstanding resulted in the cop thinking that Craig then propositioned him? "OOOOh, I thought you said "snow job"?????
I could care less how many Republicans vs Democrats indulge in same sex encounters but the point to this is the hypocrisy. The Democrats are not publicly condeming the gay lifestyle. The Dems did not scream "Impeach" when Clinton got caught getting extra marital oral sex from a woman. What message are the repub's sending? That it's OK to indulge in extra marital sexual encounters as long as it's with the same sex?

74. It all comes down to hypocrisy and the republicans are the champs in the area. Being a repuke must feel like you're in the twilight zone.
