I had no idea how you were supposed to proposition men for homosexual sex in a public restroom. But luckily, now the conservative Republican Senator from Idaho, Larry Craig has filled us all in. He was caught trying to proposition a cop for gay sex in an airport in Minnesota. And apparently there is a secret code for that request. After we did this segment on the show this morning, we got a ton of calls confirming that this is true. Men called in saying they have done this trick many times before and it has worked. I loved the truck driver who said he used to do it, but he doesn't anymore. Sure, whatever gets you through the night.
Man, these Republicans are unbelievable! How many sex scandals is this now? And how many of them are gay? I would list all of them here but I have other things to do today. We have been doing a segment called Republican Sexcapades every week on our show for the last year -- and we go through about three stories a week. We are nowhere near running out.
Remember the Republican in Florida who propositioned the undercover cop in a men's room and then pretended he was scared of black people and offered to service the guy out of fear. Remember the head of the Young Republicans who would lower young men's pants while they were sleeping and try to force himself upon them.
Remember Mark Foley who hit on the underage male interns working for Congress. Apparently, Larry Craig got in trouble for the same thing back in 1982 (and back then the interns said there were 10 to 15 Congressmen who were trying to have sex with the teenage interns -- that is beyond belief). Remember David Vitter who campaigned against Bill Clinton's immoral behavior and then got caught on the DC madam's list (and with a New Orleans hooker to boot).
It goes on and on. Are there any Republican politicians left in the country who aren't involved in a sex scandal or gay? And all of this would be funny but not very relevant if it weren't for the gross, gigantic hypocrisy. Listen to Larry Craig talk about family values here (that's why he says he supports Mitt Romney -- who of course jettisoned Craig from the campaign quicker than you could shuffle your feet in a men's room).
So, it turns out Mr. Conservative Family Values Republican Senator was looking to have gay trysts in public restrooms. You'd be surprised if you weren't so used to it already. So, the next time a Republican comes around saying they are going to protect your family from gay people, think about what he must be doing in a public restroom near you.

In both cases, much of the public anger is not really about the act itself; it is about looking the American people in the face and lying to them. Americans are generally forgiving and compassionate people, that is,until you tell a bald-faced lie and shove it down their throats. Didn't Craig learn anything from Clinton's impeachment? Has he been watching what happened Michael Vick for lying about dog fighting? Senator Vitters admitted what he did and went home to a flying rolling pin; Mark Foley admitted what he did and went peacefully into oblivion; let's hope Craig will show the same good taste.

98. Just curious if anyone else has noticed how the response to this scandal by the Republicans is very different from their responses to other Republican sex scandals. Vidder (sp?) admitted to hiring prostitutes, which is a violation of the law, but Republicans have not asked him to resign nnor have they asked that he go before an ethics committee. If I am not mistaken, Republicans and Democrats have both had members who received DUIs but they did not have to resign. It seems that only gay sex is cause enough to get someone to resign. Something seems wrong with that.

Attention Craigs family: Homosexuality is a lifestyle that causes no harm to others. If your husband / father's lies and denial cause unhappiness in your home and cause you to seek annulment then good for you. If you stay together and seek counsiling then good for you. If you start having threesomes or open relationships... well I really don't want to hear the details, but good for you. However, I would suggest that, regardless of the choices you make as a family, that you consider what family values really are and if you are upholding them in a manner that is both honest and forthright.
And to Senator Craig: congradulations. You are now experiancing first hand the prejudice and discrimination that your party has dispensed to individuals like me for years. I hope you enjoy it.
