2. where do they go? boring-u? are they all really 70 year olds trapped in young bodies? i don't think i was on campus 5 minutes my freshman year and i was invited to a party...
i can't tell if they were being pc because their parents might watch it...or if you just happen to catch the math and band geeks who have no social life. either way, i hope once they get settled in and meet some new people that their social life picks up. college is one of the best times of your life, they should take advantage of the good times while they can...you have time for educational field trips later.

5. I know 5 kids who attend NYU. They're all kind of brainy/theatre oriented kids. Yeah, they drink and party but NYU isn't the typical college campus where drowning yourself in alcohol is the top priority, although for some kids, it is. Why go to a frat party, when you have Broadway!
I also found a hobo there once snoozing under a tree, not too far from the Washington Square arch. You can bet he was drinking the night before.

6. Also, you do know that NYU's tuition, along with other costs, amounts to $55,000 dollars. And NYU is notorious for it's poor finacial aid. I doubt the kids, let alone their parents have enough beer money anymore, probably not even enough for a box of wine either.

7. This takes me back! I was so excited for my first day of college, it was practically orgasmic! And these seem like my kind of freshman. =-)I totally got where they were coming from. Mathematics was one of my majors in college, and I so couldn't wait to do college mathematics! College was definitely the best years of my life. Princeton shout-out!
And now, my youngest cousin on my mother's side is starting college this year, and I am just so excited for her! I told her to continue in staying focused, but also have fun. I was the college kid who lived in the library, always paranoid about getting every single note down, and never skipping class. While it never bothered me that I was like that, I don't want the same for Lauren. So to all you freshman out there....STUDY HARD AND HAVE FUN!
Rest In Peace Luciano Pavarotti, you will be greatly missed.

8. How sad that we now believe it is a rite of passage and even a necessary thing for college students to drown in alcohol and party till the wee hours. This irresponsible behavior, which mostly occurs with underage kids, is ridiculous, unnecessary, and dangerous. Countless kids end up in hospitals, and more than a few of them die of alcohol poisoning or in drunk-driving accidents. This is really simple. Drunk partying guy/ girl thinks his/ her behavior is cool. He/ she tries to convince anyone who doesn't that he/ she is "lame". A "loser". "A prude". SAD THAT IDIOTIC PEER PRESSURE DOESN'T END WITH HIGHSCHOOL. Sad that so many kids, because they belive this is "normal" behavior, will end up dead, in jail, or lifetime partiers and alcoholics/ drug addicts because they can't give up the lifestyle. College is for bettering, not worsening yourself. Having fun doesn't have to mean getting wasted and acting like a moron. There is other joy to be found in life, even if no-one else thinks it's "cool".

9. Sad that drowning in alcohol and partying like a maniac has come to define the college experience. Sad that idiotic peer pressure doesn't end with highschool, and that if someone doesn't participate in this life-threatening, ridiculous behavior and do something worthwhile with his or her college experience he/ she is considered "lame" and "uncool". Never mind that many kids are underage. Never mind that many kids die of alcohol poisoning or in drunk-driving accidents, or end up in jail. Never mind that some of them get addicted to the booze and the lifestyle, and never grow into functioning adults. The longer we see partying and binge drinking as a normal rite of passage for young adults, the more serious the problem will become. College is for bettering, not worsening yourself. You can have fun without getting fall-down drunk and making a moron out of yourself. There are other joys to be had in life, no matter what the "cool" kids say.

10.
When I was in college, many moons ago, there were kids that were born to party. Some started immediately and never stopped. Others mellowed out when classes started. Some continued but mostly on the weekend. Most of the major partying was in the fraternties, thats' where it was happening. I believe that things have changed . Due to the state of the world, the economic state of the county, the theat of war and politics. Although there will always be those who get away from home to party, I really think the partiers 24-7: was then, not so much now. It is not so easy to slide by in life as it was in the 70's. At that time you could count on getting a decent job no matter what bachelor's degree you got. Now that same job requires a masters degree. So If you want to get your life together you can't do it doing shots at college.
Also in the good ole days college was a place to be in you own little world , insulated for what was going on in the world. I do not think that os possible today.

I think serious partying of the past is not as widespread. When I went to college, many moons ago, college was a time to be in your own little cocoon insulated from the outside world. That is not possible anymore. Most kids take things more seriously. When I graduated from college any bachelors degree could get you a decent job. Now that same job requires a masters degree or PHD.
Wasting your college years, doing shots will get you a spot in the unemployment line. There will always be those who were born to party and those who are more balanced and take advantage of their opportunity , the choice is their's. Not everybody can get into NYU or afford the tuition.
CONDOLENCES TO THE PAVORATTI FAMILY . WE HAVE LOST A GREAT MAN.

13. Mo, parents send their kids to school to make sure they don't mooch off them for the rest of their lives. College has become an updated version of "Animal House". In the movie, Sen. Blutarsky got the girl and the best job he was qualified to do. I miss John Belushi. Anyway, our kids have gone wilder because they are auditioning for celebrity and starring roles in life. Look at the dumb beauty pagent contestant. She displayed how dumb she really is and she got a week of celebrity face time. If she can parlay that into a job offer, then all the money spent was worth it. Imagine if she went "commando?" She'd be set for life by just exposing her natural talents. We live in a world run by Jerry Springer and Oprah. Jerry wants chaos and Oprah wants us to become loyal cult followers. Why not get paid and rise above it all? You might have some fun before the Republicans destroy the world or you get drafted to fight an endless war. I hate to end on a down note so I'm writing this naked. How's that for going commando? I'm not a Senator yet, but I'm trying real hard.

14. I never went to a party in college, Mo.
I had to work to pay, so, it was alt of work and no play... bu that, nevertheless, did not make me a d-du-dull boy.
However I feel these guys oughta take a page from Pinocchio's... it's just that it's *not* their noses that will grow when they blatantly lie.
Spain reads you, Mo!

15. Perhaps these kids are smart and have already learned the lesson that Richard Nixon never did. Say NOTHING incriminating on tape.
