Clearasil Ad Promotes Teen Boy-Older Woman Sex?
Has anyone else seen this Clearasil ad, in which a teenage boy comes on to his friend's mother? Seems awfully dirty for a teen-product commercial, but that's the ever-present double standard: When a teenage girl comes on to a middle-aged man, it's a Barely Legal flick (or an in-retrospect-really-gross Kevin Spacey film). When a teenage boy comes on to a middle-aged woman, it's a cute viral ad (or a great creepy movie starring Judi Dench and Cate Blanchett).

1. The older the berry, the sweeter the juice!

2. I agree - definitely a double standard. Let this be a commercial with an older man - teen girl. Just watch the uproar.
Same goes for these sex abuse cases. Where I live a 51 year old woman had a sexual relationship with a 15 year old boy. Initally she got probation - what a shock - but the judge (caving in to public outrage)did give her 90 days in jail. She can serve them whenever she wants! If this had been a 51 year man?
He would never see the light of day!

3. Umm, since when is American Beauty really gross? I guess gross is synonymous with 'Oscar-winning'?
And MILF culture has been around since The Graduate; saying that this kind of commercial is a sign of some newfound impending cultural disentegration is totally baseless. Did you do the same blog for 'Stacy's Mom'? More power to older women!

4. Your right Kevin Spacey is gross and creepy. Not because he is gay or a bad actor of course.
Oh wait. The ad was only sad because the kid looked like the kid on Married With Children. And his mouth moved funny while the Hot Momma stirred the batter.Really, she is pretty hot and when i played this without sound thought i she was a hot baby sitter.

5. Double standards is a problem but I would call this a good lesson in sex ed. since our society has it all botched up. I say go for it lady.

6. I too saw the commerical and taught it was kind of akward and inappropriate. What was Clearasil thinking??

7. i've seen this ad - it's ridiculous. i couldn't believe what I was watching! it's a commercial, and it was on a kids' station (it's promoting clearasil for kids, duh!) I agree with past comments: if the genders were reversed, the commercial would be pulled in a heartbeat. hey, i'm not uptight - i'm all for as much sex and nudity and violence as possible in the movies or tv that i choose to watch. i just don't want my kids watching nickolodeon or the cartoon network and then having this very suggestive commercial come on. keep this for adult swim, with the tag commercials.

10. what the hel is wrong with these 15 yr. old boys feeling molested..... idve gave anything for some of my teachers when i was that age....

11. This ad is cute, funny and reflects the times. Attraction of the younger guy and the older woman is common and happens often. Things have changed.(Do not worry America, most women prefer them a little older...)

12. He's a kid. Its' creepy. And, he's supposed to be her son's friend. Mega creepy. Even taboo. I don't think ageism is the creepy issue, it's the close proximity to her son that is so weird. I get the MILF thing and that stereotype is not flattering, either. I think you could sell anti-pimple cream without taking this route. But the folks on Madison Avenue do their homework...so...is there really a younger guy/older woman thing?

14. Celt, YOU TRULY ARE IGNORANT.....I MEAN REALLY.....You say you work in the field you Claim that you do?? You would even ask such a question???? You have lost all credibility with me...(Not that you had any to begin with)
The very Beginning of our culture to finally just Broach the notion of recognizing women as sex offenders in the Media over the last few years should tell you enough...I've been dealing with them in the Community Mental Health System, or their handy work for years since no other aspect of society will.

15. Actually, I think it's kinda funny and I get that the ad is about confidence within the kid due to a acne free face....teens often have crushes like that...it doesn't mean the adult has to act on it
