16. If all the neo-Con, Bush-supporting civilians in this country would volunteer to fight for this country they claim to love, there wouldn't be a need for any troops from the Coalition of the Willing. It's time for the Bush-lovers to sign on the dotted line, put on desert camo and start fighting for the cause they claim to support.

17. Mr. Thomas J. Gassett,
I wrote comment #10 and I was hoping I could reach someone anyone, and I refuse to belive that I wont.
Based on your writtings sir, I don't believe you will be one of the individuals that I may have given even just a little bit of food for thought (who knows maybe I'm wrong).
In fact sir, I doubt you even read my comment, that's not really important right now. I however, would like to ask you a question or two if I may?
You seem to pride yourself in speaking with what it appears to be a great amount of authority, perhaps you have it perhaps you don't, I don't know. Therefore, I ask you the following, how is it sir that it appears that you have all the answers and the whole truth and nothing but the truth on your side?? Do you indeed have facts to back up all that you have been claiming on this blog. I have read your writtings before in other blogs and I have to say, I have been a bit baffled by them. Sometimes just amused by them.
I am reaching out to you because as a Democrat and now by what it appeares to be by your's and others standards I'm being told that I'm a Gut-less Leftie an Liberal with absolutely no purpose in life (I know that you did not say those exact words, but, close enough and lot's of the people on your team certainly have said that and worse, if fact they wish death upon the evil liberals). I am according to this new way of thinking with some in America a coward, cut and runner, Because I am against this particular war and this administration. I am also according to this rational and this way of thinking a terrorist lover, or some kind of traitor, and of course because I do not think or believe as you do, I therefore and anyone who believes as I do, must be evil!!!
So, 1) how is it that you are right in all you say, and those that don't agree with you are ALWAYS wrong? 2) do you have tangible evidence that you in fact have the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth on your side? 3) Why is it sir, that because I am against this particular war and this president, I must be a coward or Un-American? Finally, I want to know why you are so ready to belive that this president and his entired administration has been up front and truethful to the citizens of our nation? What is it that they have done to convince you of this?? 4) Is it possible that maybe, just maybe they have lied and that they are tearing this nation appart and our very own constitution??
Belive me I am not judging, I simply want to know. I look forward to your civil response.
America bless G*D!

18. Does anyone have a logical, truly logical reason as to why we are still in Iraq?
As to the reason we have 2,000 tactical sites mapped out on the country of Iran?
MSM will never be truthful in regards the true civilian death rates in Iraq, why Bush does not allow photojournalists to show all of us in America the flag dreaped coffins of our brave military as they arrive back on this soil in a box?
Why he lied about torture at GITMO?
How he differentiates between 'detainees' and prisoner's in the use of this torture?
Why because I believe in peace I am called 'Lib, Leftie, Commie, Pinko and accused of hating our troops?
I work fervently with groups for peace and vets for peace and getting appropriate treatment and care for military made ill by occurances during Desert Storm this illegal invasion, along with Agent Orange victims to try and make this deceitful administration aware of its due diligence.
This will not be settled on this blog, perhaps a few may choose to find a group that advocates peaceful solutions to international calamities rather than sending our children to slaughter or making sure that this world as we know it will not exist much longer.
I do not want to hear rhetoric I want to know why we are in Iraq? WHY?????????? No repetition of the administrations latest press release, or Ann Coulter, Bill O'Reilly or Sean Hannity from FAUX news desperate rants, please. Fact based reason.
Sorry, I forgot whom it was that asked for a clarification of anothers post, I am with you there, girl. It was , for me, HUH?

19. #12 " Please pardon my ignorance, but, is there anyone out there that can translate comment #11 for me???"
It's not ignorance, most likely lack of knowledge
of history. Let me guess, you were probably born
sometime in the early 1980's. Go lookup a book and documentary called "The Ten Thousand Day War"
The documentary is quite a few hours in length but each part is broken down into one(1) chunks. It will show how history is repeating itself.

20. #18 " work fervently with groups for peace and vets for peace and getting appropriate treatment and care for military made ill by occurances during Desert Storm this illegal invasion, along with Agent Orange victims to try and make this deceitful administration aware of its due diligence."
Rhodalee, I do not know how you have found the time to do all this noble work. I say this in awe considering the last blog I read where you had posted how you were glad to be leaving for Europe, namely Paris, France. Folks if you just look around at the different blogs out there you will see Rhodalee's footprints. It is amazing how one who spends some much time replying to blogs is still able to perform acts the deserve "canonization" if not out right "sainthood". One thing really good about high-tech and and the internet is that it not only allows the Walter Mittys of today to fantasize but allows them to tell everyone else about their fantasies.

21. Well you were close... I was born in 1957. The reason why I asked the question in the first place, is because I do not believe that the response to my previous comments were answerd, but rather totally ignored. Or perhaps just used to respond to only the one question "Who thinks this way"???
Anyway it did not make sence to me then, it doesn't make sence to me now. If anyone truly read my #10 comment maybe they would like to explain why I cannot understand the respond from comment #11 due perhaps to "my lack of knowledge".
Thank you.
Patty at 9:54AM on Oct 12th 2007
22. #21 The response was to " "Who thinks this way"??? "
Just lookup the "Ten Thousand Day War" and you will see how Maddox & Turner Joy was replaced 40 years later by WMD. How a president who was of the same party as the congress got us involved. How the congress except for , I believe two(2) senators agreed with the Tonkin Gulf resolution. How people who had no concept of the military were making military decisions. How people with the military experience were not permitted by "Rules of Engagemnt" to successfully perform their assigned mission. How political agendas in the class rooms created a group of people who helped undermine the effort and actually prolonged a war that could have ended sooner with a better result. We are still paying the price today for those things done back then. Also we are repeating those same mistakes . This goes for those on both sides of the current issue.

I am reaching out to you because as a Democrat >>>
Reach out and touch your mouse, you clueless drooling liberal. Every 'claim' I've made can be verified with a few mouse clicks. Stop being so damn lazy and prove even one of my statements are false ... or stop wasting my time.
Thomas J Gassett at 11:44AM on Oct 13th 2007
24. Wow....so much for a civil response!!! I probably should have known better..... However, I still held out hope that I could possibly have gotten an answer from you with out insults.
But alas.... Of course You are "RIGHT" and I am wrong!! WHAT was I thinking???
I particularly founf it interesting how you seem to get to much pleasure in "Knowing" me and that I am a... what was you called me???? Oh yes, "clueless drooling liberal and damn lazy" Is that the best you've got???
Well don't worry sir, I wont waiste any more of your time or try to pick your brain for answers, I do belive I may have just reafirm what I already knew!! Have a pleasent day, smile it really does warm up the heart.
Peace to you sir!
"Good night and good luck"

25. Oh one more thing Mr. Gassett, I just realized all my spelling mistakes to may last comment. SO please feel free to insult me with my spelling as well.
So now I'm not just a "cluless drooling liberal and damn lazy" I'm also a cluless liberal that can't spell. However, you must admit I sure was civil with you!
Patty at 5:02PM on Oct 13th 2007
26. Mr. Gassett:
We disagree on virtually everything. Your version of fact is different from mine, as are our sources, I'm sure. I leave it to the discerning reader to do his/her own research and decide what the facts support.
But this you can respond to without need for factual verification:
I don't understand why the majority of conservative bloggers (and for that matter, conservative talk show hosts and writers) feel the need to denigrate those whose opinions differ. You've had a number of people make polite comments about your comments, or challenge your assertions and in each of your responses you insult them (from "point on the top of your head" witticisms to "clueless drooling liberal" outright insults).
I am a patriot. I support our troops. I vote. I care about what happens to this country.
I am also a liberal. I am against this war. That makes me neither "in favor of the terrorists" nor "wanting to lose".
It makes me a concerned citizen who hates that the protections guaranteed in our Constitution are being disassembled in the name of "security". I hate that we are mortgaging our children's future to fund a war that has no chance of making us safer.
The Administration claims that "we fight them over there so we don't have to fight them over here". Great concept, but if true, then why would we need stepped up airport security? Why would we need to eavesdrop on our own citizens with such urgency that FISA court oversight would impede the effort?
I'm afraid that we (and most conservatives and liberals) will never get past this impasse until we are willing to have intelligent, respectful discussions of the facts, of the realities of our very hostile world, and can be open to the idea that "our" side, whichever one it is, might just have made a huge blunder in how it dealt with the aftermath of 9/11.
Randy at 6:23PM on Oct 13th 2007
27. Thank you Patty. Thank you Rhodalee. Thank you Randy. Thank you to all who have shared your thoughts without ugly insults. Most of all thank you to those of you who have suggested to our citizens that belive in this war, to go and fight along side our troops. That to me is the ultimate show of support.
Susan at 11:39AM on Oct 14th 2007
28. This is the first time I have been on one of these blogs. My son thought I should take a look at what we have become.
I am a 62 year old woman. I am a conservative. I have worked hard all of my life. And for the first time in my life I am ashamed of my own party. This is not my republican party, this is not how conservatives used to be. I have read all of these comments and I find myself in pain. Are we not all Americans??? I may not agree with most of the Democratic party ideas, but, I am ashamed at what my Republican party has become. And it scares me to see what it is doing to people that have become blind to it.
Vicky at 12:03PM on Oct 14th 2007
29. HeySusan I agree with you. I really liked what Randy had to say. Right on the money.
Angela at 12:04PM on Oct 14th 2007
30. After a breif and somewhat interesting encounter with a fellow blogger I thought returned to where it all began. I was not sure what I would find. Maybe more insults??? Imagine my surprise when I read 4 very nice comments.
I was very impressed with Randy's comments, I thought they were intelligent, very eloquent and to the point. And did this without insults....
However, I ws most moved by Vicky's comments. I want to take this oppertunity and thank Vicky for sharing her feelings and showing all of us that we are still civil human beings and we don't always have to agree on all things all the time. However, there does come a time when we must open our eyes and recognize when things are terribly wrong.
We can still agree to disagree with respect and with dignity. We must always remember that we are Americans and that the politicians that represent us in the world must be held to higher standards and represent this wonderful nation with pride, dignity, and strenght.
We must take our nation back and changes must be made now.
Thank you Vicky, I hope you get to read this.
