This is the hardest multiple choice I have ever had to put together -- what is the most offensive thing Ann Coulter has ever said? There are so many choices, how do you boil it down to just four?
How do you compare her comments on Muslims -- America should "invade their [terrorists'] countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity" -- to her comments on Jews -- "we just want Jews to be perfected"? How do you decide which one is more heinous. I guess the comment on Jews didn't include killing their leaders and invading their countries. Does that make it any better?
Then there are the comments that are more stupid than offensive. Here is one about New Yorkers: If attacked by terrorists, "they would immediately surrender." Here's one of the problems with that statement: They were attacked -- on 9/11.
As far as I remember, New York did not immediately surrender to Al Qaeda. To top it off, Coulter also said: "Oh God, they're so stupid in New York." Right, as opposed to her brilliant analysis.
And, of course, there;s the instant classic about the 9/11 widows: "I have never seen people enjoying their husband's death so much." What's with her and 9/11? In some bizarre way she is doing the opposite of the Republican strategy of shrouding themselves in 9/11. She seems to be attacking anyone who suffered during 9/11. The only thing crazier than this plan is the fact that it's working.
Why? Because television producers keep putting her on-air no matter what she says and they keep helping her sell books. I hope her last statement is the straw that breaks this camel's back. But you never know.
So, let's see if we're up to the challenge of picking her worst comment of all time. You can read a list of most of them here (no list is ever complete because she keeps on talking and adding to the list on a daily basis). But here are my top four. You pick which is the most offensive.
Finally, she had this gem to say about women: "We're not that bright." If she just changed the "we" to an "I" she might have finally been on to something.

31. I voted for A.. I almost wish the whole Jesus delusion were real just so I could see Ann go to hell. As a Lefty though I'm a big Ann the man fan. Every time she opens her mouth you can almost hear the republican poll numbers dropping. Give her a bullhorn. More Ann Coulter please. She is like free campaign ads for the Democratic Party. How could ANYBODY hurt the right more than this wench does? Sometimes I seriously wonder if Ann is not a plant sent to destroy the right. It is hard to believe she does not know that is exactly what she is doing.

32. I don't particularly agree with everything Anne Coulter says, but can we get a grip here, people? She said she views Christianity as the completion of Judaism? Big deal. It's a fact that both Jews and Christians consider the Old Testament part of their scriptures and share a common history. She was making a theological statement.
Did she call Jews sub-human or endorse the idea that they are inferior as human beings? No. And will there be mobs of Christians, inspired by Anne, running through the streets anytime soon persecuting Jews? No. She happens to think that Christianity is preferable to Judaism. Well, that makes sense, since she's a Christian.
And if we really want to hear somebody spewing incendiary religious rhetoric, anybody out there remember Louis Farrakhan and all his talk about "White Devils"? And that's not just select white people he's talking about, it's all whites who, according to his theology, were created by some mad scientist somewhere. Good grief. (The scary thing is, people are actually listening to this guy and acting on what he says.)
And regarding her comments on the "Jersey Girls" whose husbands were killed on 911, has anybody ever milked more publicity out of the deaths of their spouses than these folks? These people just won't go away and Anne may have simply been pointing out, in a less than tactful way, what many folks may have been thinking.
Is what Anne said more offensive than: 1)Racist cartoons of Condoleeza Rice? 2)Hillary speaking in a phony black dialect while reciting a "negro spiritual" song? or 3)Joking about Ghandi running a gas station? 4)Joe Biden calling Obamma "clean and articulate?" or 5)Telling a constituent that one can't enter a convenience store in the South without meeting an Indian/Asian person?
6)Comedians Bill Maher and Jimmy KImmel endorsing the idea that Colin Powell isn't "white enough"? 7)Bill Clinton describing Christians as a bunch of rednecks? 8)Al Gore cynically running a fundraiser in a temple of Buddhist monks? 8)Black Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick being endlessly excoriated and vilified for animal cruelty to a far greater extent than people who commit multiple murders of human beings? 9)Robert Byrd, former Klansman, serving in the US Senate? 10)The Prez of Iran openly talking about nuking Israel and wiping Jews off the face of the earth?

33. Ann is just too intelligent for most people educated in public schools. The reactions and comments here prove it.

34. Ann Coulter is easily the most despicable individual. I've had the displeasure of hearing screech her Jackie Mason-esque rhetoric just a few times, but once would have been sufficient. Outrageous statements made Lenny Bruce a star for 15 minutes, and so they shall for the only woman I would gladly strike. To the point, I went with "A", despite my being Jewish, if only because while her religious knowledge is clearly baseless, her couth regarding those widows goes way over any normal bounds. BTW...Flamethrowing or not, Susan appears to be irreparably braindead.

35.
So some of the 9/11 victims families were "milking" publicity from their spouses deaths ?
Sure - they probably had it all planned out. Ol' sweet Annie said they even "enjoyed" it. And now the "Jersey Girls" should just go away ? Better idea - how about Ann and her fans just go away ?
If there's anything worse than a "deranged hag" - as none other than Michael Savage called her - it's her deranged apologists who defend her pathetic and indefensible behavior. They are enablers - nothing more.

36. Ann is one of the great humorists of our time. She should have her own show on PBS. Although it would be hard to top many of the America hating liberals already on PBS. Isn't that right Mr.Moyer????

37. Ann coulter is better looking then the 3 of you morons put together..This is America...The good looking people get noticed... The young turks are ugly .

38. Dave#33, could you please post a reference for your Clinton citation? I rather doubt that someone as polished as PRESIDENT WILLIAM JEFFERSON CLINTON would publicy state that Christians are "rednecks."

39. Ohhh, she's just a big ol' contrarian who likes to blow hot air and piss people off. You know the type. People who'll say anything incendiary that goes against the grain of reason because it makes them feel special and interesting and rebellious. She's just an entitled and arrogant little girl trying to fill the empty void between being privileged but not being special in any way (except maybe in the looks department, where she really got her foot in the door as the world's first attractive conservative with an education & they definitely needed the glam factor.) She's just hooked on the notoriety:"Oh look I'm not your classic Barbara Bush-like conservative! I'm so hardcore! Yay lookamee!" Seriously---her words are offensive, but,you know--sticks and stones...especially when you consider the source. She only infuriates people so much because she thinks she's smart.

40. That the Young Turks were truthful.
That really upset me after seeing Young Turks twist the truth so much. But Ann has many best seller books, to none for the Young Turks, so she must know something

41. Don't give this Republican airhead any more attention! She's arrogant, ignorant and utterly self-serving. IGNORE HER!!

42. Ann Coulter is an anorexic skank whose comments should be less newsworthy than those of Britney or Paris.
Cas at 7:34AM on Oct 13th 2007
43. Gee, why don't you do a column on the most offensive things Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Teddy Kennedy, or any number of Democrats have said. Oh, thats right, your column only attacks Republicans and conservatives. That's what I like, fair and balanced writing. Keep up the good work.

44. let me look at my calendar and see when we lost our right to free speech? If you don't like Ann Coulter, go watch keith Obeberman, who is constantly calling someone the "worst person in the world"--- or is conservative humor bad-- and liberal humor good------??? She is a Cornell graduate cum laude and Univ Michigan Law graduate---- and a millionaire several times over-- so suck it up and don't read her if you don't like what she says
