This is the hardest multiple choice I have ever had to put together -- what is the most offensive thing Ann Coulter has ever said? There are so many choices, how do you boil it down to just four?
How do you compare her comments on Muslims -- America should "invade their [terrorists'] countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity" -- to her comments on Jews -- "we just want Jews to be perfected"? How do you decide which one is more heinous. I guess the comment on Jews didn't include killing their leaders and invading their countries. Does that make it any better?
Then there are the comments that are more stupid than offensive. Here is one about New Yorkers: If attacked by terrorists, "they would immediately surrender." Here's one of the problems with that statement: They were attacked -- on 9/11.
As far as I remember, New York did not immediately surrender to Al Qaeda. To top it off, Coulter also said: "Oh God, they're so stupid in New York." Right, as opposed to her brilliant analysis.
And, of course, there;s the instant classic about the 9/11 widows: "I have never seen people enjoying their husband's death so much." What's with her and 9/11? In some bizarre way she is doing the opposite of the Republican strategy of shrouding themselves in 9/11. She seems to be attacking anyone who suffered during 9/11. The only thing crazier than this plan is the fact that it's working.
Why? Because television producers keep putting her on-air no matter what she says and they keep helping her sell books. I hope her last statement is the straw that breaks this camel's back. But you never know.
So, let's see if we're up to the challenge of picking her worst comment of all time. You can read a list of most of them here (no list is ever complete because she keeps on talking and adding to the list on a daily basis). But here are my top four. You pick which is the most offensive.
Finally, she had this gem to say about women: "We're not that bright." If she just changed the "we" to an "I" she might have finally been on to something.

61. hah, if you think ann coulter is offensive then just head on down to the aol message boards, the people there could teach her a thing or two - both republicans and democrats

No comment from the AA (Annies Apologists) on the comments by Michael Savage about the first lady of the wingnut nation this week. Apparently his description of her as a "deranged hag" and "bigoted" went unnoticed by Anns fans. Who better to make an accurate diagnosis than the good Doctor ? Or was he just way out of bounds here ? Isn't Savage one of those people who supposedly "tell it like it is" ? Which is it ? Coulter will say anything to sell her books and her apologists continue to justify her bizarre behavior. Her comments about our soldiers, the New York Times building (that was REAL funny), the 9/11 widows, and now the people of the Jewish faith are all on the record. The only thing more ridiculous about Coulter are the number of people who actually take her seriously - they're a lot like the folks who are fans of professional wrestling. And Ann like the great "athletes" of professional wrestling is laughing all the way to the bank.

Yes it is unfortunate that the message boards have some offensive posts from a few people coming from all sides.
No doubt that there are a few people who will stoop to the lowest level - but hopefully no one will defend them or endorse their bizarre behavior by buying their books and attending their "lectures". Freedom of speech is one thing - endorsing and supporting slanderous and offensive behavior is another.

64. Young Turks,
You forgot about the time she called John Edwards a "faggot". Anyone want to defend her on that one? I can forgive someone for being merely wrongheaded, but not for being hateful and nasty. Listening to her poison makes my heart sore

65. It sounds like alot of you liberals don't understand the dark humor that Ann is all about! That's just it! It is humor, with of course an underlaying message of truth in it. It's just like the style of humor that Dennis Miller or Al Franken uses in their comments. If you are actually taking them verbatim seriously then their humor is over your head.
Tstar at 12:22AM on Oct 14th 2007
66. @65."If you are actually taking them verbatim seriously then their humor is over your head."
Another apologist. It's all, "dark humor." Right. Coulter never changes. Watch her in most any interview .. like the one where Edwards' wife confronted her... Coulter appears geniunely *shocked* at times, when someone takes offense to something she says. She visibly stiffens up. And her response is always the same. Instead of trying to modify or tone down her remarks, she takes the opposite approach and magnifies her stupidity.
No, I believe Coulter is more complex than most give her credit for. On the one hand, she is "crazy as a fox." On the other hand, she is just plain crazy.
Ann Coulter is a sociopath. In fact, that's what the major right-wing mouthpieces have in common.
"Conservatives" in general are a pack of authoritarians.

67. I admire this woman who has strong opinons and adds her sharp humor into the mix. I get the humor and the message and for those of you that probably havent even read her books (just comments, out of context) then before you vent YOUR hate filled posts pick up one of her books while sitting in Barnes and Noble with your latte and actually read a few chapters! I believe then you will get her, you may not agree with her politics but you will have to wonder why all the hatefulness aimed at her? You may even find yourself smiling... or heaven forbit...laughing.
MJM at 5:59PM on Oct 13th 2007
68. C'mon, now MJM. Don't tell us we just don't understand her "context" when she goes on television and makes those remarks. We can SEE the context.
Captain Negative at 7:01PM on Oct 13th 2007
69. I'M HERE TO DEFEND ANN COULTER, CALLING JOHN EDWARDS A FOGGOT. BACK WHEN I WAS GROWING UP AND BEFORE WORDS BECAME SO "POLITICALLY CORRECT" SO AS NOT TO OFFEND ANYONE...IF A KID WAS DOING SOMETHING FOOLISH OR SAID SOMETHING REALLY STUPID WE WOULD LAUGH AT THEM AND SAY, "WHAT A FAGGOTT!". BUT WE WERENT CALLING THEM THAT BECAUSE OF A SEXUAL ORIENTATION! IT WAS SLANG BEFORE IT WAS CHANGED TO MEAN SOMETHING ELSE! ANOTHER EXAMPLE HOW WORDS HAVE CHANGED IN MEANING...I REMEMBER MY MOTHER (REMEMBER THE OLD I LOVE LUCY SHOWS, THAT WAS HER ERA) CALLING EVERYONE HONEY, IT WAS MEANT AS AN "ENDEARMENT" BUT TODAY SOMEONE MIGHT SEE THAT AS A "COME ON" TO A CO-WORKER IN THE WORK PLACE ...YOU GET MY MEANING... THEN MY MOM USED TO USE THE WORD GAY, ALOT! I REMEMBER HER SAYING AFTER A GREAT HOLIDAY PARTY SHE ATTENDED, "OH, HONEY I FEEL SO GAY TODAY!" DID SHE MEAN SHE FELT LIKE A LESBIAN? OF COURSE NOT, SHE FELT HAPPY, THE ORIGINAL MEANING OF THE WORD... BEFORE A "SEXUAL ORIENTATION" MEANING OF THE WORD WAS ADDED TO THE DICTIONARY. MAYBE SOME DAY WE WILL ALL BE ON THE SAME PAGE WHEN IT COMES TO BEING "POLITICALLY CORRECT" IN THE WAY WE USE A WORD OR TURN A PHRASE SO AS NOT TO INSULT...BUT I DOUBT IT, BECAUSE IT SEEMS TO CHANGE DAILY... MY BEST ADVICE TO YOU JOHN AND OTHERS THAT ACT LIKE YOUR EARS ARE SO SENSITIVE TO WORDS BUT CAN TYPE THE HATEFULLNESS IN YOUR POSTS LET ME GIVE YOU THE BEST ADVICE MY DEAR DEPARTED MOTHER EVER GAVE ME AS A CHILD GROWING UP AND IT MIGHT HELP YOU THRU YOUR "OUTRAGE"! STICKS AND STONES MAN... STICKS AND STONES. THANK YOU MOM....

Coulter a humorist along the lines of a Dennis Miller or Al Franken ? Now THAT'S funny. But I'm sure to some out there Coulters comments about the New York Times building and the 9/11 victims families were genuinely funny - if you are a proud member of the knucklehead nation. Apparently Michael Savage doesn't understand ol' Annies humor -does that mean he's now a liberal too ? Someone better tell Dr. Weiner he's caught the disease. As for Ann she's proof of the old saying from H.L. Mencken - "no one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public". At least she sure hasn't.
max at 11:23PM on Oct 13th 2007
71.
So it's official - Michael Savage is a liberal !
He sure as hell didn't understand the dark "humor" of the Queen of the Wingnuts Ms. Coulter. Then again neither did most people. Savage calls Coulter a "demented hag" and "bigoted" and not a peep is heard about his comments. What happened - is Savage no longer a truth telling hero of the extreme right ? A brilliant mind like the good Doctor Savage just doesn't get it ? Maybe all went of the proud members of the Savage Nation had it just go "over their heads". Is that possible ? Coulter is about as funny as a train wreck and her apologists and enablers are even less funny. Ask the family members of the 9/11 victims just how "funny" they think Coulter is. There isn't much that's "funny" about ignorance. Coulter needs to enter rehab before she is ordered to do so. And there isn't much funny about that either.

72. Offensive Comments are so subjective. What Ann Coulter says is her view on things.
To be offended may mean something is being hidden by the one who claims to be offended.
Ann Coulter is a very intelligent person and her insights are often veiled in humor.
It is easy to see why so many are offended as they live in little boxes or beliefs that limit their ability to think.
Organized religion is a box and many are stuck in it. To be out side of it takes great strength and few are able to venture there.
I can see why not many can like her as she speaks with deep knowledge of the true issues that few can grasp. She is however not always correct nor are any of us folks.
Ann "Keep on Keeping on" there are many out here who understand what is going on.
Those who are offended are like little children wanting it their way.
Why do the Jews take offense at anything said about them. They too are no more perfect than the Christians. Religion is a necessary crutch for many who have it and that is OK.
May the Great Spirit bring understanding to those who think that their God is better than another's God.

73. For those who state Ann Coulter is "telling the truth?" What truth? I don't understand why she is given air time. It is ironic to hear her harping on "Christian" values when she illustrates a total lack of same in all of her rantings and ravings.
La Mayimba at 2:02PM on Oct 14th 2007
74. Michael Savage is a liberal? What does this mean?
It appears that Savage is a little put out with Ann Coulter as she can say things and not be attached to the outcome.
Ann Coulter is a person who knows a lot and knows how to push buttons to make a point. It is too bad that so many have so many buttons to get pushed. Her so called dark humor is just deeper than the average mind can often fathom.
Savage is actually very insecure and has to constantly state that he has an advanced degree. His insecurity is also veiled in anger. He will not actually face others unless he first insults them and casts a great deal of fear on them.
This is a form on manipulation used by the fearful.
He is an interesting case study in ego mania. He constantly has to claim to be right/correct. He is unable to have a discussion about anything that he disagrees with.
However savage has some very accurate insights into some things but his anger and ego tend to push away many who might agree with him.
No one is completely right/correct as that would be a level of perfection which is not attainable in the physical world.
Each one needs to understand and find truth beyond the veil of human ignorance.

75. It never ceases to amaze me how half-crazed liberals can be so smug and self congratulatory about how civilized they are while they endlessly hurl invective at Anne Coulter or the President or anybody else that dares to challenge their little world view.
And how is what Anne Coulter does any different than what the average left-wing Democrat does on a regular basis? We conservatives have Anne Coulter to answer for. You lefties have Bill Maher, Michael Moore, Shawn Penn, Crosby and Nash and many others in an endless parade of deranged and ill-advised wing-nuts who think they are military and foreign policy experts.
These last two jokers, Crosby and Nash, recently went public with their insane drivel, talking about how our military just want to protect the country and their mother and sister, so they join up and find out that they have to kill somebody else's mother and sister.
So, the US military is murdering "hundreds of thousands" (completely fictitious casualty estimates) of civilians in cold blood? So much for "supporting" the troops. Earth to Crosby and Nash: Any US Military caught murdering Iraqi civilians can spend 20 years in military prison without a chance of parole. And a few do.
Next, we have Nancy Pelosi, who was more than willing to recklessly start the very civil war inferno that she and others harp about by antagonizing Turkey, a needed ally, at a time when our troops could be in great danger if we lose a major ally, not to mention millions of civilians who could die if things go south in a hurry in Iraq.
Pelosi finally came to her senses after being begged by 8 former heads of state not to go though with her planned censure of Turkey (for 100 yr old Armenian genocide). Pelosi apparently did all of this because she was in a little snit and was mad at the President. She was ready to endanger millions of people, including 160,000 US troops just to prove a point. Now really, who is more dangerous, this irresponsible woman or Anne Coulter?
