On Larry King last night, mega-church preacher Joel Osteen and his wife Victoria, Jim and Tammy 2.0, offered beaming advice about how to have it all with God's help. We were sort of shocked by the exchange about undergarments, in which Osteen said women shouldn't dress up for work or the outside world, but for their husbands; translation: they should wear sexy underwear. An excerpt from the transcript:
Larry King: Is this -- is this true, that you once exhorted women in the audience to shop at Victoria's Secret to help their marriage?
J. OSTEEN: Oh, well, that was -- that's probably true. I think the whole...
KING: That's why you're smiling all the time.
J. OSTEEN: OK. OK. I hope it was in a good context, though. I mean, I wasn't -- it's too much to explain now, but yes I did.
V. OSTEEN: Yes, he was encouraging women. He was encouraging women to take careful [care of?] themselves.
J. OSTEEN: Yes.
V. OSTEEN: And to not go around in their old, you know, bathrobes, and that they could add that spark to their home. And I think that was great.
KING: What's wrong with that?
J. OSTEEN: No, there's nothing. And that was my point, don't go look good and dress up to go to work and dress up to go to event[s?] for everybody else. Dress up for your own husband. I mean, look good at home.
Of course, we think you should dress up for your spouse, but the implication here seems to be that women's role in the outside world isn't that important ,and also that it's up to women to keep the spark alive.
Why isn't Osteen telling husbands to go to Calvin Klein?

317. I like Joel Osteen and I think that just because he is a preacher people should not attempt to make his statement into something unholy. In the end we are all human including those of us who go to church. It is no different than if the President of the US or Dr. Phil made the same suggestion to women. He should however have made a comment to the husbands also. They should try to stay in shape and look their best! It does go both ways.
All men and women should always do their best to look great for their spouse. If we all concentrated on what we could do to make our spouses happy as oppose to what we can get out of the relationship, there would probably be less infedelity and divorces in our country.

318. I had to comment again after reading some of the previous posts....
Big Joel is a "if it feels good do it" type preacher.. in basic context he does have a good message to send, but one thing is lacking.... it's not feeling good and doing it, it is a lack of gospel in it's true simple form, he does not preach on going to hell, he does not preach on the fact that there is ONE way to heaven... I watched him a few times and noticed a few things... it's easy to see, Notice his see through plexiglass pulpit, many will disagree but that is to see "the man" through, and is used to glorify himself rather than the Lord...
Some said his smile is phoney.. well let me say.. If I charged people to come into my church and then ask for "donations" I would be smiling too... I would be smiling all the way to the bank.. it's a business for him. More money... More Money... more money...........
I still agree with the comments about a wife being sexy for her husband... lol I wonder how he feels about actual sex acts between a husband and wife... like Oral sex... different positions ect.

I love Joel O. everytime I'm down and I'm searching for some uplifting I watch his show and his word of wisdom and smiley face always makes me forget my frustation and see life in a different way. 321. It's a two-way street. At that moment, he was addressing the women. Don't even try to think that Rev. Olsteen doesn't do the same for Victoria. From the times which I have heard his messages he has encouraged men to look and be the best for their wives. I don't think he was saying looking your best for the public was insignificant; I believe he was saying don't forget home. Some men and women, after awhile, treat home as less important than the outside world. They forget that they are to cleave to one another, to becomes as one. Doing that which pleases each other and keeping each other happy. Love is an active thing. We should be constantly doing things to show our love. The courting should never stop. Love has no limits, love has no end.

I know Joel better than you think I do. I also know of the expense of 45,000 to paint the walls of a small office at Lakewood church. They painted it to look like wallpaper. They did 2 offices. 90,000 to paint 2 10x 10 offices. And you dont see a problem? These funds are supposed to help people and they are helping themselves. Sheep like you will continue to line their pockets. There will be bigger houses, more expensive cars, bigger salaries, and yes corruption. Thou shalt not use the name of the lord to justify your sin.
