I get more than enough emails informing me that because of my liberal views we will all be speaking Farsi soon and now I know where this fear might be coming from. We all have lived through the last six years and it's not hard to understand why people like Horowitz are scared. At the end of the day he just wants to get rid of terrorists, which is something I think we all can agree is a good idea, but I don't think blaming liberals is the best way to tackle this issue. To each their own, I guess, It just appears to me as a very odd way of dealing with this problem.
Well to mark the occasion I found some interesting links:
First...Horowitz' awareness website.
Thinkprogress has a CSPAN video.
Christopher Hitchens response article. - Defending the term Islamo-Fascism
The Nation - Forget Halloween it's Islamo-Fascism awareness week.
Alternet provides some awareness.
Ann Coulter will earn $25,000 for speaking this week.
Most importantly I want to share, once again, the Adam Curtis documentary "Power of Nightmares."
The films compare the rise of the American Neo-Conservative movement and the radical Islamist movement, making comparisons on their origins and noting strong similarities between the two. More controversially, it argues that the threat of radical Islamism as a massive, sinister organised force of destruction, specifically in the form of al-Qaeda, is in fact a myth perpetrated by politicians in many countries-and particularly American Neo-Conservatives-in an attempt to unite and inspire their people following the failure of earlier, more utopian ideologies...Read More Wikipedia...
...It's also Breast Cancer awareness month...save the boobies.

1. I am a member of CodePink and I found out about this about a week ago, and to get to Horowitz's 'A Student's Guide to Hosting Islamo-Facism Awareness Week', I went through the 7 portals of hell to find and arrive here, he has it so buried. The Download: Full Size PDF, he places in the top center of the 'Guide' is the infamous Afghani woman on futbol field shot in head by Taliban, David Horowitz Freedom Center, oxymoron I should think.
If the college lists are correct, I , I am speechless. Take a gander yourselves at:http://www.terrorismawareness.org/islamo-facism-awareness-week/49/a-students-guide-to-hosting-islamo-facism-awareness-week/
I am without a doubt breathlessly awaiting the posts on this blog. It is going to be a spell check
lovers key to hell, every BushCo follower will be nodding their head in agreement with a hippie, Vietnam protestor, Black Panther's BFF turned racist, irrational lover of all that hate can bring with it. The names are going to be flying, incorrectly used in ways never meant to be used.

2. Please read my post titled "The End of the World by Low Tech Terror Flames? Greece's Dire Warning!" in Alan Keyes' RenewAmerica.us
Click on Forum. and then click on the title. I'm afraid my prediction may be coming true, and many of us in the Los Angeles area may die in the next two days of predicted high winds, if not from flames, then from respiratory damage from breathing the incessant small particles in the air from these arson fires.
NO lightning, no power lines in remote areas, encircled us with these infernos.

3. Whenever I hear the term "Islamo-fascism," it just cracks me up to no end. That's a great piece by TPM, and to celebrate "Islamo-fascism Awareness Week," I think I will take a couple of my Moslem friends and their families out to dinner.
On the other hand, I really do feel sorry for these neo-conservative cave-dwellers, Jeff. It's got to be a wildly terrifying world for those with such crippling paranoia. It would be a fascinating study to find out just why they are so scared.

I, too, have Muslim friends, as you can probably tell from my screen name. But Islamic terror is very real. In fact, people who actually live in those countries or who still have relatives there are rightfully plenty scared. For them, it's a daily reality.

5. Hyping the fear of Jihidiots is like hyping the fear of the KKK. It's real, it's growing, but we give them way too much credit. If we focused on mobilizing the good Muslims to reel them in like we silence the Klan, then this war would end and Bush would be exposed. Right now we are making them into the all powerful organized group that they seem to be. They are everywhere we are, but they don't have the courage to come here? That's unbelievable. Something smells fishy about this relationship. We have a cell phone and they send us video of everything they want to do next. It's like they are asking permission? Where were our defenses on 9-11? Why did he get away at Tora Bora?

Maybe liberals should hold a hug a terrorist week. Why not, they already share the same rethoric.

7. Not at all. I have an antipathy with anyone who uses real violence, legal thuggery, or demonizing rhetoric to enforce change. I don't care if they do it for religious, political, economic, or personal reasons. Yes, there are certain muslims who have no problem doing violence to America and our allies. What is so often missed is the fact that these muslims have no problem doing violence to anyone at all who crosses them, especially other muslims. If America was just as islamicly fundamentalist as, say, the Taliban, I have no doubt that these extremists would merrily go on to call Canada the great Satan, and proceed to burn murder and do everything they can to deconstruct society.
But it's a pretty nieve view to believe that one morning Osama Bin Ladin woke up and said out of the blue, "I'm gonna go blow up Americans." No cause is without effect. I doubt that Carter, Reagan, and Bush Sr. each woke up and said, "I'm gonna go piss off the middle east." Rather, if you want to know why Muslims today are so honked off, the reason is simple: We were busy waging a war on another abstraction... communism. And we were so busy and focused on it that we failed to realize our reindeer games of manipulation and guile really pissed off certain cultures. Beirut's bombing wasn't a fluke folks. When some one is angry enough at you to kill themselves on the chance that they might hurt you then it's usually constructive to take a step back and look at what you might be doing to engender such outrage.
But once that line has been crossed where a person is no longer afraid to die so long as they have the chance to hurt the enemy... it's too late for understanding and negotiation. And by the by, I'm a liberal, just in case you missed it. It's unfortunate but once a person reaches that stage then there's little chance for negotiation. However, you better have one hell of a moral high ground when you proceed to kill those who have reached this stage; otherwise the act of killing them perpetuates the hate.
But I do agree with the comments of the article... Horowitz seems to care only about having an opportunety for verbal diarreah.

8. I am old enough to remember the 50's and 60's where, when we traveled abroad, we were referred to as the "ugly Americans." Alot of it was true, flower shirted, cigar smoking, camera carrying loud mouth demanding Americans. Nearly everyone grew to hate us. " HEY, You SPEAK ENGLISH?" Many would shout.
We learned fast, when in Paris or Rome, adopt their customs. Besides, they liked it better and we grew fond of it.
Now, foreigners are flooding our gates and demanding that we accomodate them and THEIR customs. On Anderson Cooper the other night the Islamic Radicals, specifically a house of worship in Phoenix, the leader blatantly said he felt it was their right to set up a completely separate Islamic state inside America. A TOTALLY SEPARATE STATE inside of my country, for Muslims, answerable only to the Mullahs, period.
Cant do that here. It's against the law. We had a nasty fight in 1861 through 1865 over that same issue and someone is going to have to teach these boys two important things about America:
1. This is America, we have a Constitution,
you had better read it. You cannot do it
and you will not be allowed to do it here.
2. If you plan to do it here like your
bretheren are deomonstrating in England
now are, be advised that again - This Is
America - behind every door here, there
probably a gun. We are a gun society. In
Chicago alone the FBI knows of 8 million
handguns. We will not give them up.
It is not a good idea to bring a knife to a gunfight.
My last question to the Islamists fringe groups I have always wanted to know - those of them hiding here in America: why do you come here? If you hate us so much, why do you come to a place that you hate so much?
I do not like Saudia Arabia and because of that I would never move there. I am at a lose to understand why you would move here? I would like someone to tell me why you all want to move here, unless your final plans are to try and kill us all.

9. nice post jeff,
while the TPM clip is informative,
i implore everyone to watch jeff's second offering.
"the power of nightmare's".
somber pointed out the afghan war,and its a good point.
that war wrought many consequences.
but it goes much further than that,
1917 "the balfor declaration" to the founder of "the muslim brotherhood" sayyid Qutb in the 50's.
"the power of nightmare's" brings the islamic radical's and the neo-conservative movement to light.
if you feel that the statement "they hate us for our freedom" does not have a ring of truth to it,and you want to understand more,
watch the documentary.
till next time..peace.

I feel sorry for you, I really do. You are a very sad individual. I don't believe you can actually function without being combatic, insulting,or simply put a real bully. A real sign of someone with very low selfesteem and self-loathing. Furthermore your rage is always over-the-top!!
I have read other bloggers who have tried to response to you without insults, myself included and all you ever seem to know how to do is insult.
Yes...yes I know Mr. Gassett, according to you I'm a (Drooling sensless liberal, stupid, worthless) I'm not sure I may have left a few things out.
But, anyway I still feel sorry for you and I hope you can someday find a way to feel like you are a worth while human. It just got locked up somewhere inside of you. Open up your heart and your eyes, smile more. Try to be a more peaceful being. I promise you will get better one day!!
Peace be with you Mr. Gassett. G*D can even love you!

And your post differs from mine ... how, you pompous hypocrite!
Thomas J Gassett at 8:40PM on Oct 25th 2007
12. Seriously, Tom. We've never seen anything from you that wasn't a dead old chestnut, or the comical parroting of your demagogue heroes which have been proven wrong time and time again.
Say something new. Learn a new routine. By continuing to repeat the same tired, old, misguided and illogical soundbytes, you're only proving to everyone here that you're nothing but a common little troll whose opinions, like his entire life, are utterly worthless.
Some may pity you, but I openly laugh at your glaring stupidity.
Dan at 8:49PM on Oct 25th 2007
13. Oh... Mr. Gassett you are nothing if not predictable. And see you just made my point once again. I was making an observation about your behavior. However, I was not bombatic nor did I insult you.
So, I would say that my comments always differ from yours. If I were a hypocrite I would have said things to you that I did not belive in. However, I did not, I stand firmly in what I belive. Furthermore, I do belive that if you tried even just a little bit you too could be a much nicer person. And not always wanting to go out of your way to be insulting. After all, dosen't it take a whole lot of your energy to act so nasty all the time???? (you will notice that I did not say you were nasty, mearly suggested that your actions can be nasty). I bet you have high blood pressure issues, don't you???
