We just read on Strollerderby that a new study by University of Virginia psychologists reports that teen sex may actually be a good thing. The findings, per ScienceDaily: Teens who have sex at an early age may be less inclined to exhibit delinquent behavior in early adulthood than their peers who waited until they were older to have sex. The study also suggests that early sex may play a role in helping these teens develop better social relationships in early adulthood.
Ha-HA! The Strollerderby blogger says she feels her "entire adolescence has been vindicated," and so do we.
It also rings true to us on an anecdotal level. Most of the people we knew who were a little loose in high school figured sex dynamics out early; by the time they were out of college, they were ready for serious relationships. The ones who dutifully waited until they were of-age to start dating and considering sex wound up spending the post-college decade trying to make up for lost time.

46. Ada is just trying to justify her whorish younger life (How many notches on your panties before the age of 16, Ada?)
Pay no attention to that so-called lady behind the curtain, trying to put out a smoke screen to assuage her guilt for being a slut.

47. I have in the past month been counseling a young teen (age 16), She decided to give in and have sex with her boyfriend. He broke up with her that same week. Now she is embarassed, humiliated and will never forget this first sexual experience. Seems nowadays boys tell all and some girls too. So, all their friends know what happened.
When will the sex addicts that run the sex education programs for kids be satisified? Maybe when the legal age for sex is 12? Perhaps videotaping their first "experience" so as to point out inexperienced blunders? When and where does this insanity end?

48. I agree, start em out young. While you're at it, give em hardcare drugs so they don't become addicts.

I agree with you both. I am a woman in my early thirties and believe my early relationships in my late teens and my twenties were helpful to have a successful relationship now. I do not think having sex too young is a good idea, but for a responsible young adult I was not emotionally scared or do I regret the relationship I had in high school. I think the damaging sexual experiences are those who have sex without the mental maturity for reasons to fit in or become popular. This often leads to multiple partners and is not physically or emotionally health. However if you were raised with confidence and responsibility and taught of the physical and emotional risks of a sexual relationship, I believe individuals in their late teens can benefit. It seems that many people are condemning sex to just sex the act. Sex is great for the pleasure part of it, but it is also a form of communication that in necessary for a healthy relationship. All of you out there up in arms about premarital sex and being a 40 year old virgin how is your sex life? It is important to a relationship to have a healthy sex life. Relationships with couples who have sex once a month, extramarital affairs, or “fake” the fun are not healthy. If you have a healthy sex life it shows in many aspects of your relationship.

50. The legal drinking age is 21 becuase there is scientific evidence to prove that a human's cerebral cortex is not fully developed until that age if not later. The cerebral cortex is responsible for the common sense that comes with adulthood. If teens are employing their little common sense to make decisions regarding sex they could end up making big mistakes. I am waiting for marriage to have sex because I want to actually make love to my husband, and not just "do it" with whomever. This article is only encouraging more STDs/STIs,pregnancies, hurt feelings, and bad decision making.

Maybe she is embarrassed or humiliated because that is the way your expect her to feel. I am sure you think she should be ashamed too. Give the child a break. Let her learn from her mistake so she does not again have sex too early for her. Let her gain confidence from this new wisdom she acquired the hard way. She should not be ashamed or embarrassed or humiliated. She made a choice, she was wrong. I am sure this is not her first or last mistake (no I don’t mean just in the regards to sex!). She should hold her mistake as her own and take something away from this experience like knowledge.
And quit being a drama queen. You probably think anyone who wants it more then once a month is a sex addict, even if it is with the same person. And no one here is suggesting that 12 year old have sex. Get a grip. People are having a conversation about a subject and you wandered way off into left field.

52. Deb I like your thoughts!! I agree with you so much and am so glad you agree with me as well.
D. at 2:56PM on Nov 16th 2007
53. Deb, D and Ada just want to erase their feelings of guilt for having been matress-backed whores, don't listen to them, young ladies out there. Be chaste and boys will respect you, be sluts and they won't, it's that simple. (and, oh yeah, you won't end up with HPV, Chlamydia or any other nasty STD)
tonytwoguns at 3:36PM on Nov 16th 2007
54. Wow Tonytwoguns you sound so intelligent.Sounds to me like you don't have respect for women at all using phrases such as whore and slut. Are you even married? If so, I feel pity for your wife. So, let me get this straight..men can have as much premarital sex as they want and women are sluts or whores? You never once mentioned a man whore in your postings. So I am guessing that you agree with teen boys having sex.
D. at 3:49PM on Nov 16th 2007
55. Yeah, right, I have a lot of divorced friends (with broken homes and that werent able to be real parents to their out of control kids) from the sexual revolution of the 60's... so the study that suggests early sex playing a roll in helping develope better social skills in relationships in early adulthood is just laughable to me. So many of the 60's sexual era were so concerned with immediate gradification that we were actually stunting our emotional growth! We stayed kids for way to long and took our inmaturity into our relationships and werent equipped for the grown up decisions that were then forced upon us. Sell your cleverly rationalized propaganda to the naive and easily persuaded. I know better.

56. Hey D, if the fish-net stockings and mini skirt fits, wear it. And yes, women ARE sluts and whores for sleeping around, your feelings otherwise don't change facts. Men cannot get pregnant and don't have to have an emotional attachment to have sex. I believe prostitution should be legal and regulated, as it is in Nevada. If teen boys had whorehouses to go to, they wouldn't have to lie, cheat and steal in order to get into a girls pants, just pay up front. Teen pregnancies would plummet, as would STD's, and men would no longer wonder whether their true love is a porcupine or not.
tonytwoguns at 3:56PM on Nov 16th 2007
57. Tony your comments don't phase me just make me laugh. You don't have any respect for women at all. Besides calling them sluts and whores you feel prostitution should be legal? I'm sure prostitution being legalized and regulated will stop the spread of STD's,which you claim come from teen sex. Prostitution is FAR WORSE than a teenage girl having sex with her boyfriend.
D. at 4:11PM on Nov 16th 2007
58. You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. REGULATED houses of prostitution have the lowest incidence of STD ANYWHERE. They also don't attract drug addicted/criminal whores, because they are screened and must be licensed. And who is a slut if not one who drops her panties at the slightest provocation? You just want to get rid of the guilt you feel for being a pincushion, admit it. Sorry, D, I'm not gonna be Mr. PC and lie about things just so you can boost your self-esteem.

You are barely worth wasting my words on, but I have a few minutes so . . . you are a misogynistic freak. I am sure you are getting your Webster’s out now (that is a dictionary). “Guys can have sex without emotion” “Guy can’t get pregnant” This is your defense. I am sure you think any woman who has been with more then one guy is a slut and that is your opinion, but I am sure it really narrows the dating pool for you. Frankly I would be amazed if you ever got laid. It is freaks like you they were talking about earlier who want a virgin so they can be a control freak. Furthermore it is easy to spew hate from a computer in your mother’s basement and not have to face someone. I am sure you are spineless in person. Regardless of our opinion we stated it with a tone of respect. Here is some news for ya; no one takes ya serious if you talk shit. But anyway I look forward to seeing more of your ass you so like to show.
Deb at 4:20PM on Nov 16th 2007
60. Deb, can I help it that you are a slut who decided to spread her legs for the entire football team way back when? (But I'm sure you're too fat now to attract anything but flies)
As for getting laid, does 2500+ women sound too low to you? Hmm, sorry I didn't achieve Wilt Chamberlain numbers, but then again, I'm not wealthy either.
Far as spinelss goes, been in two wars, have PTSD and a host of other service connected (18 years) ailments, is that good enough for you, twat?
I actually LIKE real whores, they are about the last honest women on earth, they're not looking for their knight in shining armor to rescue them from the big, bad world. They don't go crying to Oprah when things don't go their way, like American women do, and they practice a LOT better feminine hygeine than your kind does.
