Canadian Lawmakers call for Taser Ban
Last month a Polish man named Robert Dziekanski was killed at the Vancouver Airport after RCMP tasered him. Yesterday a video surfaced from a witness who recorded the event on his cell phone, now the story has really taken off. Google has hundreds of news stories related to Robert, so go ahead and pick your poison. The video below is from CBC The National has some pretty good nuggets of information, like how 286 people have now died from Tasers. Who would have thought 50,000 volts of electricity could be so dangerous? Well Canadian lawmakers are now calling for a moratorium on Taser use, I simply think cops should go back to using the old reliable lasso, what do you think about Tasers?

16. #3 "Oh Well" says; "I never would have expected Canada from keeping us crossing into their country as is common now for peaceful protesters..."
The keywords here are; "their country." You little poopie-pants liberals only want to get to Toronto so you can spew your hatred for America from there. I'm glad to see that the Canadian border guards are getting better at weeding out you Benedict Arnold traitors, and are sending your cry baby a$$es home. Besides, you're not going to do anything for the Canadian economy...you're just going there to whine, b!tch, and moan--and maybe buy a few diet Cokes and a package of alfalfa sprouts while you're there--, betraying your country. I'm sure Canada is still tired from the last wave of you pantie-waists during the Vietnam era.
Wait..I made a mistake; America is NOT your country. Why don't you libs show some real backbone and join the Taliban? I hear they just executed a teenager for daring to teach English in school. Now that's more in lockstep with your liberal minds-- terrorists who want you to be codependant on government, and allow criminals to reign free without fear of prosecution.

17. Gee, How about holding the people responsible for resisting the Police. Instead of complaining about the Police. The bottom line that people dont realize is this.....If your under arrest..your under arrest....Dont fight with the Police listen to the orders and comply. Then you dont get tazered. People complain about tazers and complain about the police fighting and hurting people...Lets hold people accountable for THEIR actions..Not the Police for using their authority to the force that WE GIVE THEM TO AFFECT THEIR JOBS AND KEEP ALL OF US SAFE... LETS PUT RESPONSIBLITY ON THE BAD PEOPLE NOT THE PEOPLE THAT ARE HERE TO PROTECT US!... LETS THINK PEOPLE>>>>>>Take the power from the Police...and our world will crumble worse then it already is...

18. I'm always amused how liberals like Hoard, love using big numbers for the "shock" value, i.e., "who would have thought 50,000 volts of electricity could be so dangerous?"
It's all about the amps, stupid! Anesthesiologists use muscle stimulators, which are ~ 10,000 volts, (but in milliamps), in order to wake a patient out of general anesthesia.
And did you know that the Electric Chair is only 2,000 volts but delivered at 7-12 amps?
Libs, and your affinity for exaggeration, are so cute! C'mon Jeff, I know you have some personal "Bigfoot" or "UFO" stories to share with us!

19. Tazers need to be banned. The police need to man up again and stop relying on these pussy weapons. If some unarmed person needs to be taken down let three or four cops tackle him old school style.

20. Lizard, Jeff just posted this story to watch you become apoplectic. Great amusement. He holds the hoops and you jump through them.
In a brief career as a bouncer, I've seen police tazer people twice. In each instance, I favored beating the louts with blunt objects. But nooo! The police wanted to use their tazers.
In each incident, within moments of being "tazed" the miscreants were physically okay, entirely compliant and thoroughly humbled. Something about flopping around on the ground, like a fish out of water, just takes the macho out of the lizard-like, American, macho-boy.
The real story here is lizard praising Somber. Can't we all just take a moment to feel the love in the room? Sort of like watching kitties and puppies romp together in a meadow.

21. ACCIDENTS HAPPEN... Children die from getting hit with hockey pucks and baseballs. When do you think librels will ban these activities? People... wake up.. As tragic as it was, passengers would have been more irate with the airlines had they been delaying flights due to this. Had this been an act of terror, the press would be applauding the actions of the RCMP.

23. The guy who captured the whole incident on video using his phone, turned the phone over to the cops (RCMP) just after the incident, with the understanding that he would get it back within 48 hours. Of course the RCMP refused to give the video back to him until he got a lawyer after them. Furthermore the RCMP lied about the incident:
"An RCMP spokesman, Sgt. Pierre Lemaitre, was heavily criticized for provding a false version of events prior to the public release of the video. He stated that DziekaĆski "continued to throw things around and yell and scream", after the arrival of the police officers, which was later revealed to be false in the video."

Precisely, MY point! Focus Captain Focus!
You're slipping back to your 9/11 "truther" days when ray ("two truths") and myself knocked your
d!ck in the dirt, and you totally misquote/misrepresent our comments in your haste to post a "clever" comeback.
P.S. I'll be the "puppy." Somber and yourself can be the "pussies" representing the liberals.
Although, I can't be too hard on Somber, as it would appear that she's actually starting to make sense these days. A new awakening? Perhaps, better A.D.D. drugs? We can only hope...

25. Golly, lizard, did your mail-order bride refuse your drunken advances last night? You're a delusional sack, lizard. Someday I'll buy you a cup of coffee and let you vent.
This is such a simple little thing, Lizard. Either one believes (in my case having personally observed) the efficacy and propriety of subduing vioilent people with tazers, or one doesn't.
But you have to turn it into some sort of international incident, complete with calling people traitors for PROTESTING.
I'm ashamed to call you an American, lizard.

26. How about a crime ban?
andie at 6:27PM on Nov 17th 2007
27. Oy Vey.
Lizard, I support tasers because of my liberalism, not in spite of it. I explained why I support them even though some people have had fatal reactions in that it gives law enforcement a means to subdue suspects for trial with placing the suspect and the officer in the most minimal amount of risk. A bullet is far safer for the officer, far from safe for the person getting shot or some one along the field of fire. Grappling exposes the officer to harm. And a beat down can be just as fatal if there is a blow to the head or ribcage of the suspect. And folks, not all suspects are going to be smart and go quietly. Some will be drunk. Some will have instinctive reactions. Some will be drunk or drugged. The taser doesn't care. You get hit by it in an extremity and that extremity stops working, and more likely than not you're going to go down and wet yourself in the process. I speak from first hand experiance. I was dumb, tried to run, and rather than bodyslam me into the pavement the officer was nice enough to tase me.
Second time... eh... room mate was drunk and stupid and got her ass kicked when I could stand.
So lizard, we do agree on a subject. I am sure we will disagree on many, many others. So don't get your hopes up.

29. #28 Outraged. You're correct!! We should "subdue"
murderers, rapists criminals of all kind (even people throwing computers, chairs, tables in an airport security office) with harsh language and threaten them with not going to McDonald's after it's all over.
