Well Clayton Holden, the marijuana user, appears to making the rounds and asking the same question to every candidate that will listen.
Let's see how Ron Paul responses when asked about Medical Marijuana.
Did you like than answer? More Ron Paul on Drugs. If you like Ron, you might be interested in learning that the Ron Paul campaign is looking for contributions to his campaign. Ron Paul made headlines when he raised over $4 Million on November the 5th, now his campaign looks ahead to December 16th to try and shatter the record. From this seat Ron Paul still looks like the most interesting candidate, what say you?

16. I personally do not like paying for people to be incarcerated who were contributing to society and were non violent.
Why should anyone care if they wish to alter their own minds.
If you are going to get crazy on this take a look at prohibition. Good People became "criminals" and a multi-billion dollar industry was created with the stroke of a pen. In the end it caused more harm than good. The War On Drugs is the same thing.
Punish the "Actions", not the state of mind. Being altered is no excuse for bad behavior.
Ron Paul is the only sane candidate.

18. Isn't the real question whether the federal government can make the decision to imprison a person for using marijuana?
Ron Paul says it is unconstitutional and I believe he is right.
What is wrong with sticking to the Constitution and using it as our gauge of whether something is o.k. or not?
If we vote someone into office and they take an oath to follow the Constitution - shouldn't we expect them to follow it over say what a poll says or what their own personal preference is on the issue?
Let's get back to basics.

19. Breaking News: Ron Paul taken off bong IV long enough to choke down some Hospital Spam givin to him by a virtual lizard!

20. #11 Knight. I thought I gave my "argument."
Marijuana is not a good pain management tool, except to the stoners and day-dreaming PhD.'s,
who want to get back to Sitar music and toking on a bong without harassment. I work in Ophthalmology, and glaucoma patients occasionally ask us if they can just smoke MJ to lower their eye pressure. Some are joking, some aren't. We get a rash of this everytime a TV documentary airs the subject. The fact is, that it only has a clinically insignificant effect on intraocular pressure, maybe ~ 1-2 points mmHg. Certainly, far lower than even the weakest Rx medication.
Some also claim that MJ has "magical" effects on chemotherapy related nausea. Again, it doesn't touch Rx meds, (Tigan, Phenergan, etc.), for their anti-medic (nausea) properties. But Paul wants to play to the 'stoners,' for reasons unknown. At least you liberals will be able to blame the "Christo-fascists" for Paul's inevitable passover on the nomination.

I guess you did not realise that Ron Paul has served as a congressman since the 1980's.
Are you really fine with creating criminals out of non violent Americans who cause FAR less damage than the average Achohol drinker. You do realise that PRISONS are now operated by corporations and each NON violent prisoner is a "profit center" Is that fine with you?

22. Brad,
you don't seem to understand. It's all about protecting Israel, the home of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour. His father designed marijuana, not at least to help us to overcome the tragedies of the war on drugs. Even if you're not a Jew but just a Christian you should be able to understand Jesus' message.
RudyMyHero at 9:39PM on Nov 25th 2007
23. No, you didn't provide an argument. You provided an unsupported claim.
And please show me how I'm a "liberal". Please. I want to bury you in your own ignorance.

24. i may not agree with everything ron paul says,
but i like any candidate that sticks to the constitution the way ron paul does.
but i have posted many times here that ron paul and dennis kucinich have gotten the popular votes in polls, but because that does not fit into the media's storyline they are feeding us.they are both supposed to be the kooks, the loons..NOT the ones that the people feel speak for them.
we are SUPPOSED to be voting for either mitt romney/rudy gulliani or barak obama/hillary clinton.and watch with childlike adoration the feuding candidates.
we are SUPPOSED to watch in agonizing detail the implosion of mcain, the struggling edwards and the long shot huckabee.
we are SUPPOSED to dismiss dodd and brownback(did he drop out already?).
but we were NEVER..NEVER supposed to actually like the message from ron paul or dennis kucinich.
what are we THINKING?
we are supposed to follow the diatribe dictated to us by the media.
and when we dont, they just hide it,bury it..or try to dismiss the fact that we no longer are following the rules the media has put forth.
good for us!
those of us who know about weed,
about what it does physiologically.
know that its pretty harmless.
but anything abused will cause damage and harm.
we also know that booze ravages a bodies systems far worse than weed does.
then there are a few of us that know that the war on drugs is bogus,a failure and is un-constitutional.
some of us also know how hard big pharma works to lobby legislature to make them the sole provider.
i deal with natural medicines in my shop.
now i cant sell an herb as medicine,
its for "spiritual purposes only",
even though i know exactly what that herb or root does.
where do you think your great-grandma got her medicine for the family?
walgreens?
she got it from the back yard herb garden she was growing!
and where do think big pharma gets THEIR medicine complexes from?
consider that big pharma gets almost 90% of their components from synthesized botanicals..PLANTS.
you see,you cant patent a plant, its natural, but you CAN patent a component of a plant.
so while the active ingredient in xanax is valerian root, which grows naturally, big pharma synthesizes the root and voila! xanax.
if big pharma could patent weed, you bet your ass it would be legal, because they have been trying to isolate the THC component for over twenty years!
all prohibition managed to do was give rise to the mafia and the kennedy's.
it did nothing to curb america's desire to get wasted.
for over thirty years all the war on drugs has managed to do is create the largest prison system in the world.
create a black market where the only regulation is violence.
take a budget that started out with 2 million in 1972 to 200 billion in 2006,where 80% is spent on intervention in producing countries.
and drugs are now cheaper AND up to TEN times stronger!!!
yeah..if thats what you call a success,i have a 94 civic ill sell you for 100 grand,its a classic.
its a collosal failure and infringes on our constitutional rights.
go ron paul!
till next time..peace.

25. Paul is a libertarian on this issue. It's a question of property. Who owns your body? If you do - then shouldn't you be allowed to put something in your body if you want? Conservatives hate this idea - yet most of them drink, many smoke. Divide and Conquer.

26. I hope that people who are suffering and in pain will take a closer look at Dr. Ron Paul. He isn't going to give you a semon about the evils of marijuana, in fact, quite the opposite. Please take the time to donate , and get this guy into the whitehouse.

Go Rudy. Eat our Dust, paulies.

28. lizard,
if you think the Federal Government has a business in what you personally choose to take into your own body, then you should be campaigning to have the constitution changed to provide for that as was done during the era of prohibition, otherwise you are advocating lawlessness and failing to uphold the constitution. Besides if you listened to what Ron Paul said in that video, you would understand that he’s not advocating the efficacy of MM or endorsing smoking (not necessary for MM btw), he’s just stating the fact that the government doesn’t have that right to dictate one way or the other. While you may be happy with the dictates of the government, many of us are not since we realize that approach is destroying the liberty that America once stood for and is the root cause of the decay and corruption you can see all around as we spiral in bankruptcy.
You would do well to do a little reading on Ron Paul since you are obviously misguided in your appraisal and failing to understand the underlying principles that Ron Paul has unerringly adhered to, not some sudden opportunist moment for the “thrill of the race” as you claim. Here is a site that will make it easier for you to understand the basics http://thecaseforronpaul.com/ If you care for America you will take it upon yourself to explore the issues beyond the CFR neocon frame that by design has you mentally trapped in a nanny state. Go on, give it a go, it might be a little scary at first, but after you grasp the cause for freedom you’ll throw away those training wheels and you’ll be so much better off for it and everyone else will be too.

30. Lizard, give us all a break...I am sure if you were a doctor, you would have said so...so what is your position behind the front desk in the opthamology office where you have worked for 25 years? Marajuana and the medications you mentioned are both drugs...lets see your drugs increase appetite and quell nausea. The fact is, they don't. Why are you in favor of one drug over another? The fact is, we are losing more and more liberties in this country...I can't legally go without my seatbelt driving my own car!I can't smoke pot, but I can kill myself with prescription anti-inflammatories. This country has sold out to special interest groups. And for those bashing Ron Paul for not accepting medicaid and medicare? It is not about greed! It is completely consistent with this stance on the government not having any affiliation with social programs because they are not consititutional! I am a physician, and I do accept medicare and medicaid, however, these patietns still have to pay something...while I don't deny care to anyone based on ability to pay, they should have to pay because it has to cost in order to mean something to them...So if they have to pay me 20 dollars a month for 5 years, so be it. Ron Paul is the most honest candidate this country has seen in memory. Lets get this country back to the constitution before we lose the ability to choose which religion we can follow. If the media were to back Ron Paul, he would be elected president. But alas, we are supposed to vote for Rudi, McCain, Billary or Barak because the media wants us to, and will continue to make Dr. Paul look obscure or insane in their attempts to push their agenda...enough said
