Anyway...So we miss Jon Stewart, but the beauty of the Internet is that we can re-live magical moments at the click of a button, and in this post we will re-live classic Jon Stewart Moments.
The first clip is a Standup appearance from Jon Stewart back in 1996 in Miami, part of his HBO special titled "Unleavened." In this clip he touches on middle east conflicts and the simplicity of invading Canada. Enjoy.
The Second clip in this Jon Stewart adventure is from back in 2004, when Jon Stewart appeared on CNN's Crossfire and railed into partisan pundits Tucker Carlson and Paul Begala about how their political format "hurts America," Tucker wanted Stewart to be his monkey and this discussion escalated to the point where Stewart called Carlson a "dick." - Possibly the greatest moment in television, Crossfire was eventually canceled.
Next is a clip from an interview between Bill Moyers and Jon Stewart that took place in April of this year, Jon talks about the Daily Show in this clip, the full interview can be found here, on PBS.
Have you made it this far? Are you still with me? If so then today is your lucky day, I have dug up an hour long interview with Jon Stewart on CSPAN (American Perspectives) from October 2004. Sit back, and enjoy.

1. While I am not the biggest Jon Stewart fan, it is hard not to recognize his talent.
And he is right about Tucker Carlson. Absolutely.

2. The Daily Show's writers and Mr. Stewart have become perhaps the closest thing to "fair and balanced" that we may ever know. He doesn't go after the republicans BECAUSE they're republicans - he goes after the laugh, just as he does with Democrats (a quote that stands out in my mind during the Petraeus/Betray Us "scandal" - "That's right, the Democrats can't even get NOTHING done.")
First and foremost the show entertains, but he and his staff go out of their way to get their facts straight - they're painfully aware that their show really IS the only place a large majority of people get their news from. Even with computerized graphics of a 9 and an 11 "getting busy" as a bit about Guiliani's dream, the Daily Show STILL has more integrity than the network and cable news shows.
With everything that's going on around us - ESPECIALLY the debates - we need The Daily Show more than ever, but if the writers wind up getting their way, it's return will be worth the wait.

3. Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, and Bill Maher are the "Captains" of the three best political satire/commentary shows on television. Their shows- The Daily Show,The Colbert Report, and Real Time are often the only sources of researched investigative reporting available. They all have "First Officers" who support these shows in either a recurring or guest capacity to add variety. And they ALL have a "crew" of writers behind the scenes who keep these shows flying. The're a TEAM, a three legged platform in a symbiotic relationship. Remove a leg and these shows would get unstable and eventually crash. With the merging of broadcast technologies the writers must secure their intelectual property rights now, or risk legal precidents being set today that will haunt them long into the future. Hopefully they'll get what the're seeking without a protracted strike, and they can all get on with the business of lampooning our political process. It's a target rich environment, and I'm famished !

5. Thomas,
"How do you reason with these lost over the Lefty rainbow Dorothys?"
You don't. When you've got so many wicked witches on the right to listen to, just go do so and leave us alone. Just remember that the house landed on one of them...watch out for falling real estate!

6. Seems to me that liberals have nowhere to go now for their news. Calm down, kids. There's always CNN. They basically do the same thing. Make every story anti-American, anti-white, anti-military, anti-business, anti-Christian, and ESPECIALLY anti-Bush.
See, you can still get your DAILY dose of propaganda.

9. Jon Stewart is on the comedy channel for a reason. His show is a joke, yet some dummies take it as the "real" world? How sad. South Park makes more sense than his doom and gloom drival. If he's cable tv's answer to Leno and Letterman, they have nothing to worry about. They both suck, but Jon is a notch below that.

10. Thomas the gas bag is obviously a full fledged fox feeder. A true Rushbo lefty hating American mothers son. What is your idea of an American consevetive utopia? A true bigoted narrow minded Hannitys America? A great Christian Theocracy of Amerika? Listen up you worthless liberals! reprogram or burn in the ovens. It's the only way to save my Amerika!!

11. I don't have anything political or inspiring to say, just...
): I miss Jon too.

12. I'm not sure why you can't get the daily show clips in Canada... I live in Scotland and can watch both the clips and the fascinating advertising.
I sympathize with the writers, and understand that watching online is construed as crossing the picket line. Unfortunately, for those living outside of North America our only options are to watch online, or give up most quality television programming. (all good shows that are brought over run roughly 1 year late)
Personally, I am missing Stephen Colbert...

13. Ahhh the wonderful Mr. Gasset and plinkoman... as enlightening as usual I see.
I miss Jon too... does anyone know whether he's doing any stand-up during the strike? I saw him last year do some stand-up at the University of Virginia and it was even better than the daily show.
Just curious
Matt at 7:25AM on Nov 28th 2007
14. Matt--He's doing a show at the University of Delaware this Sat, as it happens. And there are still tickets. Wish I could go.
Am missing Jon tremendously.

15. Life is not the same without your SHOW Jon. You give the salt and spices in this darkest era. Listening your bold statements, arguments, metaphors, and your laughs, yeah your laughs are reality testing tools of this critical times in history.
Missing Jon terrible!
