Just when things seem to be slowing down with the Megan Meier story, that "Megan Had It Coming" blog shows up and (despite the fact that Lori Drew's lawyer has denied Drew wrote it) the outrage at the Drews escalates again.Now on AOL News is this chilling report of the family's neighborhood, which has become almost "tribal" in its systematic shunning of the Drews: "It's like they used to do in the 1700s and 1800s. If you wronged a community, you were basically shunned. That's basically what happened to her," said Trevor Buckles, a 40-year-old who lives next door to the Drews.
Some of what's been done, according to the report: Last December, after neighbors learned of the Internet hoax, someone threw a brick through a window in the Drew home. A few weeks ago, someone made a prank call to police reporting that there had been a shooting inside the Drew's house, prompting squad cars to arrive with sirens flashing.
Someone recently obtained the password to change the Drew's outgoing cell phone recording, and replaced it with a disturbing message. Police would not detail the content.
Clients have fled from Drew's home-based advertising business, so she had to close it. Neighbors have not seen Drew outside her home in weeks.
And that's nothing compared to the invective being hurled via the internet, according to The Age:
As the story gain more attention, internet avengers took matters into their own hands. They plastered photos of the Drews and Ashley, their addresses, phone numbers and email details over the internet including on sites like People You'll See in Hell and Rotten Neighbors. Local businesses that advertised in Lori Drew's coupon book business have also been harangued and targetted with boycott threats.
Just think: without a legal system, all such immorality would still be punished in this way, with social control. How lucky we are that we don't need to avenge all wrongs with bricks through windows and can use lawsuits instead. If only there were a law in place that could bring some justice for the Meiers, maybe the neighbors wouldn't feel such a need to take matters into their own hands. Then again, it's such an ugly story, maybe even the involvement of the court system wouldn't satisfy the angry mobs?

2. I think Lori Drew DID write the story "Megan Had It Coming." In it, she couldn't resist giving the full name of the teen who revealed Lori's involvement in harrassing Megan and also made sure the readers knew that the Meier's are having marital problems these days. Still unable to keep her mouth shut! Has this woman learned nothing? Judging by the selfish and emotionally immature article she wrote, I would say she still doesn't "get" the enormity of what she did to a 13 year old child.

4. Kassie, I too think that the blog is real. First of all, I have seen troll postings. They make their nasty comments or page,and they leave it be knowing that they have riled up lots of people. They don't fire back at negative comments saying, "Why aren't you listening to me? I had no other choice!!" and "What would you have done? The monster was poisoning my little girl!!"
Second of all, the blog started last month right before the story broke nationally (although I could be wrong on the date) and it was a blog of her being "Kirsten" or "Kristen" and felt like letting everyone know that Megan wasn't deserving of sympathy. And then she posted another blog with the comments that agreed with her and her praising them and their common sense ending it with, "see, Megan was a b****"
I don't know about you, but I have never seen a troll get that elaborate, so that leads me to believe it is her. And if the blog is real it pretty much explains why the Drews have not tried to make a public apology (which I kept expecting, didn't you).
The Drews obviously feel no need to apologize. If they would just come out and say that what they did was wrong and they were very sorry the pressure would ease a little, I think.

5. What is wrong with everybody? Those who pranked Meagan was wrong in what they did, but she chose to end her life. Those who are treating the Drews as they are are acting a lot worse than what the Drews did. I am sure if they thought Meagan would end her life over it, they would not have done it. Helter Skelter mentality has taken over that town and everyone involved in the witch hunt have lost their heads and are worse than the Drews. And I wouldn't come out to apologize either...Not with death threats and bricks flying by. The Drews did not kill that girl, but the witch hunters are killing themselves and their souls over this issue.

6. I still hope that Lorie hangs herself. That's too bad that people don't like her. I bet if someone tormented her friggin daughter- she would go ballistic trying to prosecute them. (Look what she did just because Megan didn't get along with her daughter!)
Lorie is a sick person and since our goverment dropped the ball on an important case, we as Americans have no other choice than to JUDGE that fat pig for who she really is. A MURDERER.
I look forward to the day we hear that she killed herself.

.....Does this seem rational? NO!!! My statement stands UNcorrected. When you wish murder on someone, you have committed murder in your heart, which is worse than a prank. Everybody is in a frenzy because that is what happens when people lose control and are led by their irrational emotions.
