This is a real story. I have to preface it by saying that because it is so remarkable and unbelievable. ABC News is reporting that a 22 year old American woman was gang-raped in Iraq by employees of KBR, a Halliburton subsidiary at the time.
What makes it even worse is that the US government has done nothing about it for two long years. She has a Republican Congressman from Texas fighting for her and she still can't get the Justice Department to press charges or even comment on the case. This is maddening.
The terrible details of the case are explained in the video below.
Girl Gets Gang-Raped: Cover-Up by U.S., Halliburton/KBR

The rape kit was mysteriously turned over to KBR security personnel, the same company whose employees were accused of the rape. Unsurprisingly, the rape kit is now "missing." A lot of that going around lately. And KBR claims she must go into arbitration instead of a US courtroom because ... that's what's in her contract!
Are they kidding? Is this some sick joke? I think you might have been in slight violation of that contract when you allowed her to be raped and covered up the crime. Now, they have the audacity to cite her contract.
My God, look at what they're doing to American citizens and getting away with. When is all this going to be enough for you? If Iranians had done this to a 20 year old American girl, we would have invaded that country by now. But as long as it's the Vice President's company, it's all okay? Do people have no conscience? What if it was your daughter? We can't let them get away with this.

16. CN no one here is defending rape. You might want to spin it that way... which only means you would be a great liberal talk show host (if you aren't one already). If fact, as I understand it, the conservatives are pointing out that the Turks most likely don't give two shits about the woman and choose to tell us this story with the purpose to discredit the Bush administration. Its amazing how deep people will dig for negative information, but you should know that, Captain Negative.

17. >I hope people who identify themselves as "conservative" realize that if they do so because they believe they're preserving something of what America used to be, its rather ironic that in fact, they're only condoning its downfall.

19. Michael- Wait for the trial? There isn't going to be
one. The contractors in Iraq are given freedom
to do ANYTHING. It's like the wild west with sand.
What do all of you administration apologists think
is going on overseas and in New Orleans? We are'nt saving the world for democracy. Don't you get it? This is the Bush cronies big money grab. That's what all of the past 7 years has been but, wrapped around a flag and called patriotism. Wake up!!
You and your country have been sold down the river.

20. Let em burn in hell if they raped this woman, but can't we wait to see the facts first before the Young Turds on Scare America put their no sense worth into the discussion. Rape to KBR to Haliburton to Cheney -- I'm suprised they haven't accused Cheney of ordering the rape with their usual lack of evidence. I'm sure it's coming.

21. What are you fighting about??? It's a Girl who was raped and you all are fighting about who is or isen't a lib. Get a grip people/ If this was your daughter, wife or sister, you would yelling for blood no mattr who did it. But all you can do is see who can dis. a person better. I agree with some of you. That we give way to mush leway to the contractors, because "thet are doing a great job" Not. We as the American people should protect our own and forget about who's the worst out there. Damn This country is going to pot because we all loose sight of whats really happening around us. We want, want as one person to be better than the next person so we fight among ourselfs and forget what started it all. Damn some times I wonder if we're ( as a people ) are going to make it at all.

23. I wish some of the posters on here would chill out and actually think about what they're posting instead of ranting about how bad liberals are. Are you kidding? So far, I have read countless insults against liberals... but that's not even what's alarming. Bomb them into submission? Huh? Defending the rapists and their superiors who covered it up? Why? Do you people possess brains? souls? What has to happen before you wake up and realize you are defending torture, greed, hypocrisy?

24. 1)Halliburton is entitled to make a profit. There's only a few companies in the world that do what they do and the bigger the risk, the more you get paid. That's called free enterprise. How much would you want to be paid to drive a truck in a war zone with people shooting at you or trying to blow you up? If it was me, I'd want a whole lot more than those guys are getting.
2)However, if these allegations of rape are true, those who participated in this atrocity deserve to get maximum prison sentences. And anyone who was complicit in this fiasco needs to pay the price as well. This is unacceptable. (As unacceptable as presidents raping people. That's a crime too, by the way.)

WELL... how about we ask our brave soldiers how much money they make to be there? And how about we ask them what kinds of crimes they get to get away with?
AS for Halliburton, it sure helps to have a Dick for a stock-holder ex-CEO, they will always get whatever job they want, charge what the want do what they want!! And we will always get to pay for them.
But, hey they are the only ones qualify to do the job. Right?? Why?? Because Dick Cheney tells us so. And we accept it?? OH G*d!!!

What about all the atrocities this administration has done, when do we all come to realize it and when do they pay??

** You mean like raping and destroying one's own country by dividing it in record time! By destroying and raping our constitution! Our civil libirties! Liars telling lies over and over again and getting away with it over and over again! What a hell of a way to asult the country!
This poor woman will be dragged through the mud. These bastards will probably get away with it! So far they have.

26. Name those contractors. Post their names and photos on the Web, in public, for the whole world to see. If she can't get justice or protection under any law, neither should the pigs who assaulted her.

28. Patty - What is so hard to understand about the idea that Iraq was a nightmare before we got there? And no one is "raping" the country except for the Batthists and insurgents and al Queda who are running around Iraq creating mayhem. If our soldiers and marines are caught killing or raping Iraqis, they can go to military prison for 20 years and a few have already been convicted.
Bush overthrew a tyrant who was committing genocide. Excuse me, but that is not raping a country. And if the Islamofascists are able to attack us again in a big way, every civil right we've ever had will be gone in a heartbeat, because we're going to martial law, no matter who the President is.
And again, selective moral outrage. Clinton can have 1000 FBI files, allow sale of nuclear targeting technology to China in exchange for campaign contributions, be credibly accused of rape, have his former National Security Advisor stuffing classified docs into his socks and much much more and that's all OK, I guess....

29. No justice in this life, however, the rapists, Haliburton and all their supporters have earned themselves a special place in Hell. Evangelicals have, twice, voted into power the most hypocritical betrayers of American and Christian morals in US history.
