Fair Reporting - Iraq Elections

I used to have to dig through the trenches of the vast Internet to find content that "blew my mind," but now my mind is blown practically every time I log into my email. Here on Newsbloggers I get my fair share of comments, criticism and praise and I appreciate every piece of email I get, because I learn a little bit more about the audience with each comment posted, keep em up fellas (and fellets.)

I must admit though, sometimes, I can only shake my head. I've been posting here long enough to foresee the oncoming comments, but I never imagined the bizarre comments I would get after posting a short John Lennon Documentary about the song "War is Over."

I learnt from a member of the AOL community that I was not being a "fair" reporter, and that in order to "balance" out my John Lennon video presentation I would have to post about the Iraqi Election (purple fingers.)

What the Iraqi election has to do with John Lennon and fair reporting? I have no idea, but I'll take the bait and report on the election that happened two years ago, today, for you. (btw, I am not a reporter, I am a video blogger.)

Ok, so in December of 2005, 70% of Iraqis participated in the Iraq General Election, all things considered, this was a clear sign of progress. There ya go. Fair reporting..booya! Now all we need a happy purple finger video (oh yeah, found one and posted it below.) Let's all take a moment to remember that this election did happen. I suppose you can choose to imagine that time stopped at this moment and no new news has since left Iraq. Now my question is do bloggers have to mention this event every time they post about world conflict...or in this case John Lennon?
