Here is Why Torture Doesn't Save Lives, It Costs Lives
You can also read my article "How Torture Cost Lives" to see evidence of how torture cost us countless American lives, rather than saving them.

1. Impeachment time. Its an abomination to wait out his term.

2. Treating enemies as equals: by, William Hawkins

Without the Liberal Democrat Pacifist, Al-Qaeda in Iraq would probably be wiped out by now.
Paul Sparcello at 11:12AM on Dec 18th 2007
3. At least Stank's headline is partly right. The fact that the dems have adopted the "torture issue" as their new, semi-sincere pet project only means that our capacity to fight global terror will only be further eroded, thus costing more innocent lives.
The dem motto: Anything anti-Bush Administration at any cost, including the lives of our citizens and troops around the world...

4. Really Paul #2? Seems to me a Republican president with a Republican controlled congress was in power when the war in Iraq was launched. And it stayed that way until last November.
What stopped them from "wiping out" the Al-Qaeda in Iraq for all those years? I mean, Republicans are such tough macho guys, right?
Perhaps you need to point the finger of blame where it needs to be - but, alas, I forgot - you don't do that. Because in your mind, Paul, Republicans do no wrong.

5. Cenk, your total "no grasp of the situation" boggles the mind. According to your theory we are causing the spread of radical Islam by capturing suspected terrorists and interrogating them. By your logic, had Franklin Roosevelt followed this course, the east coast would be speaking German and the west coast would be speaking Japanese. To fight any war you need to gather intelligence. Something your rant lacks.

You need to check out the Democrat support versus poll numbers. Mighty funny how when the poll numbers were high right after 9-11 there was little if any Democrat opposition to fighting terrorist. Now after years of spin by media and partisan hack groups designed to lower support for the war against terrorist Democrat opposition magically rises proportionately to the occasion. This is called Pandering for Political Power.
The inept Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada is the one that said "We Lost the War on Terror". Well Harry, Who Won?
So, is it better to slaughter radical islamist in the Middle East or would you prefer giving them a second chance to come here and slaughter American Citizens?

7. #2 - Paul Sparcello - Without GW, there would be no Al-Qaeda in Iraq.

8. I don't care what the United States does to captured terrorists. If our people have to sit him on a chair and light him up like a bill board on Times Square, then let them have at it.
What we call airports, subway stations, train stations, etc., terrorist call targets.
Willet at 2:20PM on Dec 18th 2007
9. # 3 - Birdman Jones - My opinion, worth as much or little as yours, is that GW's actions have put us at greater rather than lesser risk.
#5 - Dave - Did Franklin Roosevelt endorse torture? There are many ways to gather intelligence. The ones that involve torture are putting us at greater risk.
alan at 2:21PM on Dec 18th 2007
10. True enough Alan. Partisan motivations aside, I'd suggest you go online and watch a video of WSJ Reporter Daniel Pearl's beheading. Then tell us how giving aid, comfort and understanding to the subhumans involved in such acts would make anyone safer. Ignoring the threat doesn't mean it's not there.
BirdmanJones at 2:38PM on Dec 18th 2007
11. #10 - BirdmanJones - I have seen the recording. It is horrible.
My opinion is that there are groups of people with various motives who hate us and our way of life. They have acted, are acting, and will continue to act to harm us. They will not go away. They will lie, coerce, and tell the truth gain converts to their way of thinking. Our job is to contain them and the danger they represent in a way that does not help them gain the converts they need to continue the fight.
Again, my opinion, when we do what we are doing, we are aiding the enemy by providing a flag around which to rally. As unmacho as it sounds, we did a better job fighting communism with our lifestyle than we did in war and occupation. Note that the Cuban Missle Crisis ended without a war.
I'd like to hear your thoughts on this.

Sudanese terrorist were training in Iraq from 1999 to 2002. Yes they are from the same Sudan where Osama was not allowed to set up al-Qaeda training camps.

14. the ONLY way to defeat terrorists is with harsher, more inhumane torture!!! The muzzslime bastards only understand and respect pain! I personaly hope we are bringing it to them!!!

15. Has anyone EVER noticed that, regardless of affiliation, everyone who says something like "If we do what they do, we only lower ourselves to their level.", are almost always the ones who are face down in the mud? The moral high ground is ALWAYS under the boots of an immoral / amoral enemy. When they are the ones who choose when, where and how they die, they have little fear of anything that we could "morally" do to them!!!
In real world human terms, If someone gives you a bloody nose, he'll keep giving them to you until you give him one back regardless of what those people who read "In A Perfect World" while wearing rose colored glasses think.
America was so shocked at the happenings of 9/11 because it all happened in a matter of minutes. We've been there for how many years now with what could be laughably be called "Shock and awe" (YAWN)
Shock and awe would be a small tactical nuke in al quada's back yard. Give 'em a large hemorroid in return for two 110 story bloody nostrils and you'll see oil come back down to $10.00 a barrel in a flash!!!
Look what happened in Lybia With Quadaffi. He ran his mouth while beating his chest. We bombed his palace and slapped him down and we haven't heard a peep out of him in 25 or so years.
They woke the sleeping dragon on 9/11 and it said "HOOO HUMMM" and went back to sleep. This country hasn't taken a decisive stand in a war since 1945. We should either SH*T OR GET OFF THE POT!!!
