Here is Reggie in a Ron Paul thread, here is prffsrx during my Xmas day post, here is Maurice when I posted the documentary "No End in Sight." All telling people to go learn that Evolution is false and that we all must bow to our God, it's basically a Lee Strobel fan site.
During a simpler time I would assume that this commentator is practicing the art of satire.
Perhaps, amusing us by joining the debates as a mock character, I hope this is the case, I actually think this AOLer legitimately doesn't believe in the theory of evolution. So for Maurice, Reggie or whatever you call yourself today, please watch this educational film about evolution. I am no scientist, but I think the jury is sold on this topic. Please, join us as we progress our species and move on, it'll be fun.

Only someone like you would suggest that God would have to be created.
If the creator needed to be created, he would not be a creator.
Stop chasseing your tail,"spot."

19. Somber,
Then I should have stated that people shouldn't get upset over a guess.
The point is that the evolution guess is better than no guess at all. Any guess is welcoming instead of the oppression of knowledge or not to question faith. The point was that bible thumpers can't accept anything else other than what is in the bible.
Since history, linguistics and archeology has debunked the bible of its godly authorship people are willing to look beyond the box in search of "where did we come from" answers while the religions that were invented from Judaism teaches people that only one god, a jealous mountain dweller created the whole universe and humans. What is even more absurd is that this mountain god created humans to only worship him!
People should look outside the box that is the bible

20. If Evolution is so far off base, why is it that Evolution is accepted by the Roman Catholic Church and is the only creation theory taught in Catholic schools, kindergarten through Ph.D.? Remember, this is the same denomination that branded Copernicus a heretic for saying the earth revolved around the sun.
Also, there are 2 creation stories in Genesis. Chapter 2 is cited by Creationists, while Chapter 1 lines up nicely with Evolution, with Man appearing last on earth.
The Methodist minister than baptized and confirmed me believed that God was behind Evolution. Just because we think God is perfect doesn't mean He thinks He always gets it right the first time. That's why there were other species of man, such as Cro Magnon and Neaderthal.

22. You got a good point there Kent.
The problem with the fundamentals is that there could not be more than 1 creator behind the universe.
Yahweh in the bible never admits that there are no other gods. Only those other gods are beneath him. He even states in the 1st creation story "let US make man in OUR image, In OUR likeness.
Even the book of psalms places god as the head of a pantheon (the leader over other gods)
The other problem is that the universe was created in 6 days, not billions of years.
So no,
Yahweh cannot be behind evolution since Yahweh is only known from Moses time.
El Shaddi maybe? But he was only known to Abraham.
Truth is, no man was around to know who the true creators are.

23. A theory, as the clip explained... isn't a guess. It isn't even a best guess. It's a guess that has been tested over and over again, not just by those who made the initial theory in the first place but by any one else who cares to think that the theory is wrong. >>>
There are two very different kinds of theories.
A theory as in the theory of evolution or electrical theory are theories only in that we can't
show exactly how they work ... not that they do or don't work.
This is quite seperate from the scientific method used to PROVE or disprove a concieved theory. With evolution and electrical theory we know they work, but they remain theories because they are mysterious (haven't been completely explained.)
We should all keep this in mind when we make blanket statements about some of the greatest mysteries known to man, such as the theory of evolution.

24. ah,
the bane of humanity.
fundamentalism.
the rigid belief that scripture is the word of god...period.
since evolution goes against scripture,it therefore must be wrong.
well,
lets take a look at some things concerning scripture and fundamentalist beliefs.
1.there are 267 books of the bible, all by biblical author's,yet only 66 IN the bible(73 if your catholic).in 325 a.d the council of nicea along with constantine decided which was holy canon and which was not.why were the other books excluded?answer: because they did not fit into the new paradigm the new church was setting.say hello to the "dark ages".
2.jesus was not deified until 325 a.d (coincidence this was the very same nicea council?).even his disciples did not view jesus as god.
3.the story of jesus's birth is from a much older story of horus, and mithra, krishna and vishnu.from the virgin birth to the three wise men(who are actually constellations).
4.the resurrection story is a very old one,and is actually about the death of the "sun/son" on the 22nd of december, which lasts for three days until the "sun/son" rebirth,or resurrection, on the 25th.which the christian church conveniently made jesus's birthday due to the massive amounts of people who celebrated yule.
5.the story of noah dates back to babylonian times and the story of gilgamesh, there is an even older flood story but i forgot his name.
6.the book of genesis and adam and eve are metaphorical representations of the 10 sepiroth and the "tree of life",which is from jewish mysticism, the kabballah.
7.there were 13 other "messiah's" at the same time of jesus, all around the same area, all performed miracles and were crucified and resurrected.simon the magus and appolonius of tyrannus to name a few.
8.there were 23 "schools" of jesus, all viewed jesus's teachings differently.the only ones left are ecclestiastical and calvinism.the other's,like the gnostic's and the assiene's were murdered for heresy.
fundamentalism rejects this history because it does not fit into the paradigm of scripture.
it's rigidity of thought, and substance will lead to stagnation and entropy, and ultimately it's demise.
this is why the christian church hundreds of years ago had a "reformation" and with that the dark ages ended.
during the dark ages anybody dabbling in science was seen as a heretic and a witch, from satan, and would be executed.
the church had to adapt or become irrelevant,so it adapted.
let's take islam for example.
so many of it's precepts have been perverted to suit the cleric class but resembles very little of islam's origin's.
women have little or no rights now.
murder is acceptable for non-muslim's.
education is deemed of little importance.
all unrecognizable from earlier islam.
why?what happened?
answer:fundamentalism.
the literal translation of biblical scripture.
interpreted by men,who are fallible and human.
if you would like to see where fundamentalism can take a country, just look at some countries where fundamentalist islamic theocracy has taken hold.
for the past 30 years christian fundamentalism has had a huge resurgence.
but this is no longer the dark ages,so they cant just burn scientists at the stake.
no,all they have to do is muddy the waters and make people think.."well..maybe".
i give you "intelligent design",which is creationism covered in scientific psuedonyms.
so why all the huff and puff over evolution?
is not evolution a much grander and more beautiful example of a creator?
of an intelligent designer?
i find evolution so much more poetic and lovely than the story of genesis.
genesis lacks imagination, but evolution is wrought with imagination.
and if science is by observation, experimentation and trial and error.to be judged by qualified consensus.
does that not mean that science is the study of god?the creator?
so what's the big deal?
fundamentalism.
in it's absolutist ways of perceiving there is only scripture.
and that is the word of god.
end of discussion.
even when faced with a preponderance of evidence,
which extolls a beauty far greater than the simplistic story of adam and eve.
the fundamentalist will deny it.
point to the inaccuracies, the contradictions, the literary history, and the fundamentalist will rebuke it.
for their mind is closed, their spirit stagnant and the heart locked in place.
for they worship what?
words.
all you have to do is look around and see that the creator is anything BUT stagnant.
nature is change,life is change.
the creator is unknowable, incomprehensible, but one thing is clear.
the creator is always changing.
and evolution is a masterpiece.
if you believe in a creator,or dont,it's irrelevant.
this amazing creation we call our lives, the world, the universe..
will continue on,and will continue changing.
it's the fundamentalist that is going nowhere.
until they stop worshiping words and start seeing
the world as the creator intended, they shall forever be locked in a cycle of dictated thought and morality.
i pity them.
till next time..peace.

25. Why, if you are going to create something, not start with heaven on earth? Why create sin? Why watch mankind suffer over the years, all the death, all the pain, the sadness? Why not begin perfectly?
What was gained by all the chaos?
This is a serious question, not an argument.

29. Post 24
Why is it that if you post a question related to something factual about religion or the bible, you are inundated with facts and scriptural reference? But when you post a question that requires a thinking, feeling answer, they ignore you?
These are the answers that I am interested in. The thinking, feeling kind. Not the repetition of facts.

30. I am an Eastern Orthodox Christian Priest. I am really sick and tired of people who have houseplant IQ's being seen as the spokespeople for Christianity. The people who believe that every word in the Bible was dictated by God into someone's ear DO NOT represent the vast majority of Christians, even in this rather theologically backward country, much less the rest of the world. There is NOTHING about being a Christian that precludes also believing in Evolution, the Big Bang, or that humanity is related genetically to apes. The Orthodox Church, which is the original Christian Church from which Roman Catholicism broke off (and then all the others from the Romans or Roman break-offs) has ALWAYS taught that the Bible contains a great deal of myth and allegory. I've seen an apple tree, a pear tree and even a fig tree (yum) but never a tree of good and evil. I've never seen a snake who talks and has little legs. This is a FAIRY TALE folks to explain a deeper truth. God, whether working through modeling clay or evolution, created humanity for Himself. Humanity did something that we probably can't comprehend in pre-history that caused us to be so messed up that we shoot each other and create blogs. God ISN'T running around condemning people to hell because they don't happen to believe exactly the same way you do or I do. Seriously, people, the god of some of these "Christians" has the manners of a spoiled 2 year old. I don't believe in that God and neither do most other Christians. Most of us DON'T believe that everyone but "usins" is going to go to hell, hell, hell. We DON'T believe the Jews killed Jesus. We DON'T believe in talking snakes and weird trees, arks that hold 8 million species of beatle and everything else besides, and so on. We DO believe that there is more to the Universe than the RELIGION of Scientific Materialism would have us believe. We believe that God Himself became incarnate of the Theotokos and ever-Virgin Mary and came to live and die and rise again as one of us, so we might become as He is. We DO believe that He taught us to love everyone. We DO believe that the ONLY people Jesus ragged on in the Scriptures were the clergy and pillars of the community ...the "good" people. And we DO believe that God really, really dislikes self-righteousness, bigotry, hatred, discrimination, narrow-mindedness. We DON'T generally beleive that God is running around looking in bedroom doors to stop people from having fun, or being a spoilsport in the ways that the ignorant and the Mrs. Grundy's portray God. Personally, I believe that God is pretty darned disgusted with what sadly passes for the Christian Church these days, and would really like us to stop judging others or trying to run their lives and GET BUSY feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, housing the homeless, healing the sick, visiting the prisoners, and being gentle, kind and accepting of one another. Talk to me about your "morality" AFTER you've done what Jesus told us to do. Christians: take the plank out of your own eye and then worry about the splinter in your brother or sister's. Until there is not a hungry, naked (except maybe Paris Hilton), homeless, etc. person on the face of the earth, we haven't done our job. We, as Christians, need to SHUT UP and get busy.
