The quotes in the video below clearly show Chris Matthews has it out for Hillary Clinton, and they also show why:
Out of all the quotes in the segment above, I think this is the one that best describes Matthews aversion to Hillary Clinton:
"I think a lot of people pick a president they figure would sort of like them if they knew them. And if you are overweight or have a problem with your diet -- and I certainly did for years -- you may figure Hillary doesn't like people like me. She's looking down on me. What do you think? Howie, she's looking down on me, that woman. She thinks she's better than me." (October 19)
That's Matthews problem in a nutshell. That's why it's personal with him. It's not about Senator Clinton, it's about Chris Matthews' own issues.
Here is the Media Matters story with even more quotes on Hillary and Rudy. It's an open and shut case. Media Matters is driving these guys crazy just by writing down what they say and sharing it with people. It's really quite a brilliant strategy.

1. "It's really quite a brilliant strategy."
Sure is. Now all they have to do is drag out that
electronic noose and go to town with their pack following behind. They are not impartial, they are group that uses so called "getting the word out" about anyone whom they deem violates their code of correctness.

2. WHAT'S EVEN FUNNIER IS THAT 80% OF AMERICA CAN'T STAND MEDIA MATTERS. BY THE WAY, WHO GIVES A CRAP ABOUT CHRIS "WATERBOY" MATTHEWS? HE WAS AN ORIGINAL "TURK" FROM THE 60'S AND 70'S. A TALKING BOBBLEHEAD DEVOTING HIS CAREER BACKING THE WRONG SIDE ON MOST SOCIAL ISSUES.

3. Hey Boss,
It's hard to believe Chris Matthews doesn't like Hillary Clinton. The guy claims to be a life long Democrat and the Clintons are one of the Icons of the Democratic Party (along with others like Pelosi, Reid, Kennedy).
So if Chris is bad-mouthing Hillary, it won't last. It's probably not much more than a ratings stunt anyway.

4. Admittedly, our human reason cannot grasp the 24/7 blabbing of Chris Matthew mouth concerning Hillary Clinton. I don't believe it is his weight, I believe that he is attracted to her. Why make a comment about a woman not like him because of his weight? Even Hillary told him that he was obessed with her. What a marvelous comfort it would be if one day whos by and we don't have to hear his bashing of Senator Clinton. Oh, how I wish she would win so "the slap" across his face can be heard all the way up to the whitehouse!

5. Matthews is too busy, asking his guests questions, then answering himself, to have a grudge for Hillary. He's the Bill O'Reilly of the left: in love with the sound of his own voice, having no respect for anyone else's opinion, including the guests he brings on his own show; paranoid...

I have witnessed chris matthews on his show say that he was a republican, not that I'd need to hear it to know it. I have also heard him say 'we're all neocons now'. Matthews is another foxfarter as far as I'm concerned. The msnbc network is foxfart light except for olbermann.

8. How can you hate media matters? They're dedicated to recording and making available comments and quotes make by political and social figures to hold them to their statements. They don't make sweeping political statements. They simply say "Here are the things these people have said, and are saying. You be the judge."
In otherwords... don't claim impartiality when your comments grossly favor one candidate over another.

9. Democrats seem to have little loyality to their own, and live up to saying "eat your own".
Liebermann was VP Candidate for Gore, then he was dumped by the Party as Democrat Nominee for Senate seat Liebermann held in favor of some useless millionaire. Libermann was good enough to be Gores running mate, and even President if Gore died, then gets dumped by Democrat Party.
Now Edwards. Who seemingly has done nothing wrong against the Democrat Party, just 4 years ago was good enough to be VP running mate for John Kerry, now is dumped by John Kerry who has endorsed Osama. Some LOYALITY. Edwards should do as Lieberman, go out on his own as an Independent and run for President. He could easily get a lions share of independent voters in a Presidentials election to win.
Lieberman won as n Independent, so can Edwards, and bet Lieberman would endorse Edwards as an Independent

10. Thanks for this, Cenk.
It's good to see so many people looking beyond spin, which is such a tricky, slippery animal that it can be intentionally or subconsciously applied or consumed.
I agree that Hillary, Obama, and Edwards are all viable candidates and hope each does well, so that the debates will become more and more about issues and less and less about personalities and image.
I think we need less psychoanalysis and more logical analysis of issues, of what we need to do in terms of economic, social, and foreign policy. Then we need to see where the candidates stand and try to discern what they are most likely to be able to accomplish.
The press needs to get in there and roll up its sleeves and talk about trade, labor, immigration, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran Pakistan (Ok, the middle east, China, the world),the social welfare net and what is weighing it down, education and public schools, all that stuff that's gone to or is headed to hell over the last 8 years.
And yes, Edwards also deserves more attention. It would have been much classier and kinder for Kerry to have waited till after Edwards' home state primary to cast his golden endoresement.
But politics aren't often classy...
Hill's speech in N.H. was great! I hope she and all the candidates stay POSITIVE and focused on ISSUES (not mutually exclusive tasks). It will help all of us to sift through the press' spin, and can only help the candidates as well.

13. Well, it looks like Chris Matthews likes Giuliani better than Clinton. So what? And you don't like Chris Matthews, Cenk. Both of you are going to say whatever gets you the biggest ratings or most postings on blogs. That's what y'all get paid the big bucks for anyway, right?

Actually didn't you meant to say ?
"In otherwords... don't claim impartiality when your comments grossly favor one candidate over another, especially if the one not being favored is the one that we support and who kowtows to our code of correctness"
