The quotes in the video below clearly show Chris Matthews has it out for Hillary Clinton, and they also show why:
Out of all the quotes in the segment above, I think this is the one that best describes Matthews aversion to Hillary Clinton:
"I think a lot of people pick a president they figure would sort of like them if they knew them. And if you are overweight or have a problem with your diet -- and I certainly did for years -- you may figure Hillary doesn't like people like me. She's looking down on me. What do you think? Howie, she's looking down on me, that woman. She thinks she's better than me." (October 19)
That's Matthews problem in a nutshell. That's why it's personal with him. It's not about Senator Clinton, it's about Chris Matthews' own issues.
Here is the Media Matters story with even more quotes on Hillary and Rudy. It's an open and shut case. Media Matters is driving these guys crazy just by writing down what they say and sharing it with people. It's really quite a brilliant strategy.

16. Thanks for this, Cenk.
It's good to see so many people looking beyond spin, which is such a tricky, slippery animal that it can be intentionally or subconsciously applied or consumed.
I agree that Hillary, Obama, and Edwards are all viable candidates and hope each does well, so that the debates will become more and more about issues and less and less about personalities and image.
I think we need less psychoanalysis and more logical analysis of issues, of what we need to do in terms of economic, social, and foreign policy. Then we need to see where the candidates stand and try to discern what they are most likely to be able to accomplish.
The press needs to get in there and roll up its sleeves and talk about trade, labor, immigration, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran Pakistan (Ok, the middle east, China, the world),the social welfare net and what is weighing it down, education and public schools, all that stuff that's gone to or is headed to hell over the last 8 years.
And yes, Edwards also deserves more attention. It would have been much classier and kinder for Kerry to have waited till after Edwards' home state primary to cast his golden endoresement.
But politics aren't often classy...
Hill's speech in N.H. was great! I hope she and all the candidates stay POSITIVE and focused on ISSUES (not mutually exclusive tasks). It will help all of us to sift through the press' spin, and can only help the candidates as well.

17. Anyone with any intelligence "has it in" for Billary. She's a lying criminal bitch who skewered other women to keep her sexual predator husband in office so she could keep her own dreams of power alive. Where was NOW when Billy boy was diddling and molesting multiple women? SILENT...

18. Well, it looks like Chris Matthews likes Giuliani better than Clinton. So what? And you don't like Chris Matthews, Cenk. Both of you are going to say whatever gets you the biggest ratings or most postings on blogs. That's what y'all get paid the big bucks for anyway, right?

"In otherwords... don't claim impartiality when your comments grossly favor one candidate over another"
Actually didn't you meant to say ?
"In otherwords... don't claim impartiality when your comments grossly favor one candidate over another, especially if the one not being favored is the one that we support and who kowtows to our code of correctness"

21. I have witnessed chris matthews on his show say that he was a republican, not that I'd need to hear it to know it. I have also heard him say 'we're all neocons now'. Matthews is another foxfarter as far as I'm concerned. The msnbc network is foxfart light except for olbermann.
Clif Kuplen at 10:05PM on Jan 10th 2008
Clif -- Matthews supported Barry Goldwater when he was young, but became a Democrat during the Civil Rights movement & supported Eugene McCarthy's anti-Vietnam war platforms. Matthews went to Washington & worked for Democrats: Sen. Frank Moss, Sen.Edmund Muskie, & as a top aide to Speaker of the House of Representatives Tip O'Neill. He was also a presidential speechwriter during the Carter administration.
Matthews also attempted to run for Congress as a Democrat from Pennsylvania, but lost the Democratic nomination to Joshua Eilberg in the Democratic primary in 1974.

22. Tweety Bird is obsessed with the Clintons. Its as if he believes that they have snubbed him and he wants revenge. He has expressed love and respect for Coulter but slams Senator Clinton. Whats that all about? Read his book. Its all about image not substance. Watch his interview with Jon Stewart. Jon shreds him on that point. And why does Keith Olberman agree to sit at the same news desk with Chris? They are such opposites.
Well the upshot of this screed against Clinton may have won her New Hampshire. The Matthews, Kristols and Dowds of the media don't speak for us and we resent it when they obscure the truth for their own purposes. I think we witnessed a backlash against them in NH. Then Dowd writes that Clinton is going to cry her way to the White House. It sounds like something you would hear on a grammer school playground. Na na na na na. Where are the Cronkites, the David and Chets, men with integrity?

Hey, Lucinda, spare your breath. Your are wasting your time. Regardless of what Matthews may have done in the past. He does not fall to his knees, bow his head, an seek deliverance by Cliffie's chosen candidate. I used to watch him when he first started in television and his show was good, eventually I lost interest, not because of anything he did or did not say on his show, the same thing goes for O'Reilley.

25. Get in synch, Cenk. You sound as if you're gunning for Chris Matthews just as he's gunning for Hillary. Your rant was personal, too. What's that about the pot calling the kettle... Partiality in the media's mostly unsubstantive reportage is a given. And it is flagrant. Hillary has been either trivialized for her gender or vilified as a Medusa (y'know her stop-you-in-your-tracks unsmiling sterness now ubiquitously designated "the unlikeability factor").I would prefer to think that most Americans make their decisions based on other things beside Chris and yourself. Stick to the issues. Puleeeeeeeeeeeeez!

I think both D & C are dead while uncle Walter is
sailing around the Vineyard and the islands with his other wealthy buddies, including Teddy, trying to stop a non-polluting wind farm that wants to generate electricity, from being developed off the coast of Cape Code.

Nope, unless you are one of the "Fairness Doctrine"
whiners.

30. "...Teddy, trying to stop a non-polluting wind farm that wants to generate electricity, from being developed off the coast of Cape Code."
If we covered the entire continent with corn fields and windmills it wouldn't alleviate the looming crisis which is "peak oil."
Back to the topic...
Chris Matthews is just plain nuts. I agree with those who point that out. He is a bitter little sexist pig. Wasn't long ago that we were all laughing at him for his ABSURD, leering comments toward that female economic reporter.
Matthews needs treatment and/or retirement.
