I've blogged enough about torture to give off the impression that it's something I am concerned about, and today I've learnt Canada has added America and Guantanamo Bay to the Torture Watch List. My observations conclude, Americans are stuck in a debate between "Torture" and "advanced interrogation techniques." Truth of the matter is, if America simply went back to following the rules our World War fighting (grand)fathers left us there wouldn't be a debate.
Naturally your efforts of reading my post will be rewarded with a moving picture, here is one from the Keith Olbermann Archive.

1. America would be good to a lot of things now the way they were done in the WWl and ll era. It is truly a sad day when Canada, our nearest neighbors have that sort of mistrust, and so does the rest of the world (and rightfully so). George W Bush has single handedly managed to evoke mistrust from the whole world when previously the US had been seen by many the only country that coul be trusted. When I traveled abroad in the 80's, I was so proud to tell everyone I was American and I was so well received. Recently, the sentiment is not the same, and I feel obligated to tell everyone that I did not vote for Bush in either election (as I believe most American's didn't either!) American now seems to have the motto, "Do as I say, not as I do". It is a real shame.

2. Does your "liberal fascism" know no bounds, Jeff? It's not torture, it's the Tickle of Freedom! Besides, it's not like the 200 and some odd creatures in Gitmo are human or anything, right? They be "teh terrahismists."
We 'merukuns don't need no steeeeenking proof of their crimes so long as they're brown and Muslim, right? Right???
Thank goodness, Dubya had the "smarts" to pull us out of the World Court. Otherwise, we'd be held to a higher standard than the inhuman, sick bastards that we Americans truly are so long as we allow this bullshit to continue in Guantanamo Bay. And, well, if you can't follow the law, I guess it's usually best to run and hide.

3. BOY OH BOY, 6 YEARS WITHOUT AN ATTACK IN THE US. IT MUST BE THAT THE ISLAMISTS ARE LISTENING AND BEING CONVERTED TO THE PLATITUDES OF CONSTITUTIONAL SCHOLARS AND THE KEITH OLBERMANNS OF THIS WORLD. YEAH.........THAT'S IT.

4. You missed something here Hoard..."They (US) wrongly accused him of having links to terrorism in large part because of information provided by the RCMP.""
It seems obvious the RCMP keeps secret files on people and were more than willing to share this one with the US to keep this guy out of Canada. Putting Gitmo on a torture "watch list" is political stumping....means nothing.
Besides, I think we said we were sorry for torturing him. Now, it's your turn to say you're sorry for lying about him.

8. Boils down to the question; Is Bush evil.Answer,no.America is at least open about when it tortures, and as in Abu Graib, punishes the torturers. In some other countries,it takes years to even get an acknowledgment of torture.
America is much better than most other countries anyday.

9. "Conservatives" have become the greatest nanny-staters of all, thinking that the Bush Junta is protecting them from those evil, dark-eyed, Muslims.
There haven't been any more attacks here because the Bush-Cheney Junta knows you pansies are still scared witless from their last false-flag operation.

11. So a bunch of north of the border, maple syrup swilling liberal hacks found something new to wring their hands about. Well....I..I..Well, I gotta tell ya -- I just can't care any less.
Oh,I'm sure SOME people care. Of course they do. But they aren't like us. No, these are the Kool-aid chugging, yankee liberal, fellow travelers of a gang of Ottawa milksops. PS -For those who think american schools are at their best: Ottawa is the capitol of Canada

13. I'm a patriotic American born & raised, long hired wild hillbilly Yehoo that likes to work, drink beer watch Nascar and really do enjoy life and most people,I did vote for George W.,Damn proud of it as it kept that other idiot out of the bunch of crooks that is American politics, the way our system works a president can't do anything by himself,he has to have a whole bunch of people agree with him to make a move so it aint all GW's fault,it's the best system in the world and if you don't like it move to whereverland as I and probably a whole lot of others won't miss you,but since we're talking about terrorism, torture and other such things I would like to know what others might think about a group of religious extremists that are bent on destruction
of everything that they don't believe in? This would even include people in their own religion that don't believe exactly the same exact way, what are you going to do with someone like that? Give them a candy bar and a Coke, maybe a teddy bear and a hug? and tell them it's gonna be ok? These people are murderous animals, and I don't mean all Muslems it's just a very small percentage but they have big plans and want to make big shows and scare the whole world to prove their point and untill a whole bunch of you get this picture and let it burn in hard no one anywhere in the world as we know it is safe from them,I don't advocate useless wanton torture of anyone but this is a war and I believe it will escelate in to the dreaded WW III that has been predicted by Nostrodamus and I believe the Bible as well,as far as I'm concerned whatever has to be done has to be done to stop these people or the world as we know it is going to change drastically and the most of you probably won't survive it,I will,as Hank Williams Jr. says a country boy will survive!!!!!!!!! 14. If I am to follow your logic, Ironblueeyes, Bush must have really opened the door for us to be attacked in the first place. Maybe there was only one attack planned and it was successful.

15. I'm sure the rest of the world will abide by the "no torture" laws. I mean I know no Americans were tortured in Vietnam or Korea. Now, really, who gives a crap about what Canadiens think about us. You just keep your asses up their and do what we say. The French were cowards and couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag and we bailed their ass out time and time again and this is the thanks we get. Nothing's changed.
